  1. Wow 77%! I was flying off the net at 85% this week and I could finally 'feel' the air and what little movement I needed to come up off the net and move around. How much do you weigh because 130mph is really slow?? Yeah I know what your saying about bailing out at high speeds and I've been able to transition to a sit and float back down to the net at any speed. Its just a slower progression for me compared to me sitflying in the tunnel. But I just recently got a good coach whos doing A LOT more with me in head down, like double legs back and switching up my daffy, so once I can fly off the net proficiently Ill be able to fly all those different positions easier instead of being stuck in one leg position.
  2. Im curious to see that, do you have any videos on youtube you could post?? For some reason Im am having one hell of a time getting comfortable flying off the net, its been a long road for me!! Im thinking around 2-3hrs so far. Im a stalky 5'9 195lbs, not sure if that has a little to do with it.....
  3. If the weather is good that week Ill come out and play. Start praying to the weather gods!!!
  4. Ive got the optima for freefall and canopy audible and the viso for a digital visual altimeter which is my jump counter. Ive had a pro-track before too which worked great! You didnt mention anything about wanting a jump counter so I would either go with the optima or solo IMO
  5. Hey happy new year to you too....Lets keep it a safe year too. A lot of newbies think the way your thinking and it has come to bite them in the ass because they thought they were different and could handle a little bit more speed.... With that said I would wait at least until your cleared to jump solo and you've talked to your AFF instructors about proper gear for you. They could give you some good valid advice about gear that you never considered. Your instructors are going to have a better idea on you as a student handles the stress of adrenaline. So my advice is to error on the safe side, but thats my opinion
  6. MMmmmm I love new skydiving toys!! NICE looking rig.... Have FUN!!
  7. The pic is from one of my photo shoots and yes, I was on the bed. 34D will work just fine. All in favor of the REST of the photoshoot being posted, say AYE! AYE AYE AYE!!!! AYE!!! AYE!!!
  8. Im with him, why dont you go to arizona. You split it up, 2 hrs of tunnel and 35 jumps??? And I bet you could use a world class coach that could coach you in the tunnel and in the air..... I personally am learning to fly HD in the tunnel by flying weekly there but I do jump (weather permitting) in between the tunnel sessions
  9. mm Hard to tell. 3 of us have been working as instructor since mi-april 09 but im guessing between 8 and 12 hrs of actual flight time. Nice, yeah I was going to say 10 hrs..... Im on my way to there, I dont work for a tunnel but I do fly weekly.....
  10. sweet vid I love to see progression!!! How many hours did you put in that year?
  11. Well Dashe, I heard that if you land in the grape fields you have to look out for large creatures lurking around. One of my buddys caught a quick pic of one before he had to run for his life
  12. Jesus H Christ I hate to hear this shit. I got my rig stolen almost 2 years ago and my buddy just got his stolen this last summer. IT SUCKS!!! I WILL KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR YOU
  13. That is some really great flying and I like the size of that tunnel too!! Have you spent much time at a tunnel before?? The reason I ask is there are usually tunnel whores or teams training that you can witness flying similar to this
  14. I was sit flying after 1 hour of tunnel. Did about 2 hours of sit flying then they let me get on my head. Now Ive got 5 hours total and I work on all body positions Hd, sit, belly & back. Im still not off the net on my head yet but it will be soon. As far as financing this other addiction well I just set money aside for it on the regular and keep and eye out for good deals my tunnel offers occasionally.
  15. So Im kinda of curious of your opinion skybytch, If I know of some unsafe, unlawful things going on at a DZ i jump at. Is it my responsibility as a skydiver to report these things to the higher authorities??.... Or should I just turn my back on that DZ and hope for the best...
  16. I notice a difference in my stamina and soreness level when we reduce our session time from 2 min rotations to 1.5 min rotations. Also when we fly with 6 or 8 people rather then 4 people so there is more rest time in between rotations. And i get more used to the tunnel the more consistent I go, Ive been flying once a week for the last 2 months so now my stamina and soreness levels are way down. I dont really see how Ibprofen is going to prevent soreness and Ive never seen a shoulder wrap either. What kind of flying are you doing? freeflying or belly?? maybe learn to fly a different style that wont irritate your shoulder??
  17. Just off the top of my head, 400-700$
  18. Did you talk to any instructors or coaches that day about things to think about prior to manifesting?? DId you get a gear check from head to toe before boarding the plane, not having goggles isnt the end of the world but misrouting your chest strap wouldnt be good ... Those are a few things that come to my mind that I would do.
  19. Landing a parachute is a visual muscle memory thing. You can have all the knowledge and take all the canopy coarses in the world but you wont actually know how to land a canopy until you DO IT!! A broken ankle is a possiblilty for all of us, so does the risk of braking your ankle again outway the fun of skydiving?
  20. Do you freefly in the sky?? I think the same concepts in the sky apply to the tunnel as far as moving forward and backwards As far as body position and stability go, it just takes time to get those things down. I notice from my tunnel videos that Ive sometimes used my butt as a surface for flying when Im docking, Im not using enough legs or back to compensate for my hands being forward. Dont beat yourself up over it, all its takes is more tunnel time!! MORE, MORE!!
  21. See the only thing I didnt like with starting my GF in the tunnel before AFF was that she was taught to turn a different way in the tunnel then what her instructors told her to do in the air so she had to repeat a level while going thru AFF. And the tunnel instructor was a skydiving instructor too With that being said Ebusto about covered it. All the instructors Ive flown with have been good, some better then others but all of them are competent, it sounds like Busto is going to give you the update anyways. San Fransico is a big city so take your pick on what you want to do, its fun there...
  22. 0:9:2 Two Dz's and 9 jumps. Awesome freefly jumps at both but I owe beer for my first SPACEBALL jump!!! And led my first big tracking dive, that went pretty good, could have been moving forward faster
  23. First off please dont be in any hurry to down size. You can still kill yourself or badly hurt yourself on a 170. Any of the container manufacturers will fit one main size up and one main size down. So when you order your rig, talk to wings and tell them you want it to fit a 170 but with the ability to go down to a 150.... Ive even seen people put a 135 that was made for a 170, so that rig will last you a long time with those capabilities. On reserve sizing, Im a fan of the saying that bigger is better, so as other people have said, be willing to land your reserve, after having a nasty malfuntion, in a persons back yard.
