I'm of a similar size and weight to you so was in your predicament when I had lower jump numbers and was thinking about a suit... your screwed!! i would, got to a wingsuit event, save all your cash, and fly as much as possible on as many different wings as possible. Then buy a v4 :)

I've flown my electra for a couple of years, at a 1.6 wingloading. The canopy has progressed along with me 180 jumps upwards, and been awsome... I Demo'd / owned a safire 2 190, Saber 2 210, and a spectre 170, before buying this canopy, and felt that for consistant openings, glide, and flare an electra wins hands down. It opens without a massive 1000ft snivel unlike the safire. Has flare power at both the top and bottom end unlike the saber 2 Has Better Glide and swooping responce then the spectre. I have put around 350 jumps on my Electra, and its been awesome, Its been a great choice, and PDF have made an awesome peice of kit. Highly recomended!!

Just looking for a bit of information on PAC, I need to get my PAC rating, for a Job option. They use PAC instructors rather then AFF, would i need to challenge the course to be able to take students?? Or would my AFF instructors rating be fine to use if i were to take an AFF instructors course?? Second question are there any centers which offer the pac course in america or europe with english speaking instructors, my french is good but i would prefer not to have a launguage barrier when trying to pass my instructors course.

I think its your accent!! I have never met DSE, but i like the fact he's willing to offer positive instructional tequiniques which may or may not have been thought of or used, him describing in 8 lines his 3 instructional wingsuit jumps and debriefs is clearly not going to give us a clear picture of what went on during the skydive's. I understand that you wanted more detail, but becoming monomaniac over his statment about breathing seems rather pointless, and detracts from an instructor who has helped a student relax in freefall and fufill his catapedamania, a win in my book, Maybe you could just say well done i like the thinking outside the box, or give me a reason why you would not have let the student jump a 2nd time in that wingsuit from watching his flight on the video?? in hinesight possibly!! now we have more facts??

You disagree with using training aids, thats all the gum was IMO, this attitude is stuck in the 90's, training people has progressed way beyond what you seem to grasp. That in itself is probablly because you have never been taught how to teach... You were clearly smilling when spot took the dock with you, i would say thats pretty relaxed for a first flight, and not a reason to halt progression in a suit, you had a stable exit, alti awerness, i presume you pulled at the correct height after waving (kicking) off. I don't get the issue.. i really don't. Rhys I don't believe that you have never had a tandem student who said to you they could not breath in freefall.. I must have had 5 or 6 in the last 200 jumps. I like the fact that different instructional aids are on this site, I like that people are thinking out of the box, and not still all in the mind set of if they don't do it right; shout at them, belittle them, make them feel they don't belong in the sky. I'm the worst for speaking my mind on these forums, i also don't react well to snide remarks or comments which i may misread or misunderstand.... However it would be great if being shitty to one another could be left off the instructors forums so we can still take ideas and experiance from around the globe. I missed the 6 hours bit in my email. OK so lets say with a small person, thats 400 jumps if there jumping at a turbine dz going to 14k. Is that enough to start teaching AFF, i'm usally the non conservative person here, but i still think this is a low ammount of jump numbers. It seems ironic that in the same email it states that more people are dying under canopies then any other way, it seems slightly backward to then having people with great air skills, which is either a eceptional flyer or more likely a tunnel rats, to then teach basic canopy skills when at 400 jumps they are still learning the basics themselves. Or maybe i'm just getting old, maybe 400 jumps is plenty. Even when writing this i feel like an old fart, god that's depressing.
