  1. Don't feed the trolls. I have felt awful on more than one occasion when skyride failed to inform some one of the weight limit, and I have seen them turned down. That really sucks. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  2. Thats funny, both my rigger and Aerodyne seem to think that it fits fine, and I like the extra 15 square feet. My rig looks fine with the 175 packed in it, and it has been repacked by several different riggers. I am not saying your wrong, just wanted to share my experince (and the previous owners experince) "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  3. Does that pack significantly bigger than a smart 175? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  4. ' Afternoon???!!! Pass over what you are smoking. That site has killed a whole semester for me. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  5. You can still get nice gear if you go used. I got a rig with only 120 jumps on it, and now I don't have to cry every time I get the leg straps a little dirty. It flys exactly like new gear, fits like new gear, I just don't get stuck with 2500 dollars worth of depreciation. Hell it even packs better than new gear. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  6. Thanks for the info. And I agree 100% about sharing the air. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  7. That would have freaked me out a little too. I think up under canopy he just has to stay 500 or more feet from you per the FAA, but being that close to jumpers that low to the ground doesn't sound like the best idea. Please correct me if I am wrong since this is second hand info!! Did you mention it to your pilot? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  8. I love this thread it is all too true. I went from zero jumps, to A licensed jumper in about two and a half months. Aff took me about four weeks. If you can condense it I recommend it, when I was able to put more jumps in a week I improved at a much quicker rate. It helps to stay current instead of forgeting the feel of free fall all week long. I have easily dropped 7 grand on skydiving this summer. 4 grand on gear, 2k on AFF and jump tickets, and at least 1k on beer, takeout, and extras. It has been worth every penny. 9. I don't think I will need to post one for you... "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  10. Are you planning on posting a new thread the next time you fail to properly do a gear check and you kill yourself? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  11. I just lost my goggles and eyeglasses yesterday. They stayed on for the whole jump, changed head position to track, and poof gone. If I keep doing that this is going to seem like a cheap alternative. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  12. Is it still going to be both an audible and a visual. Obviously it can't function as an audible while in free fall, and still be viewable, but I wonder if it will do canopy alarms like the optima? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  13. It was more of a case of typing out the voices in my head, I was certainly not trying to disagree with you. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  14. Would you agree that students also have a moral responsibility to know that ultimately their saftey is 100% in their own hands? I look to my instructors for knowledge and information, I look only to myself to keep alive, I know they can kill me just like everyone else. I just don't think it is fair for a student to have the belief that their instructors are the end all be all for their saftey I don't care if Bill Booth hands me a rig and tells me it has been checked over and good to go, I check every single rig that has left my hands and was out of my sight, or was touched last by some one other than me. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  15. There is a way to gaurantee that a packer will not pack you a hard pull, pack it yourself!!! In my opinion if you don't check that your pilot chute is cocked, and that you don't have monkey fist, then it is your own damn fault when you have to go silver. The jumper was negligent. I would be more sympathetic if the jumper had a situation attributed to odds, like a tension knot that led to the chop, but this problem could have been solved on the ground. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  16. Booo hisss. You have a lot of professors who can't teach any more so instead they sugar coat everything with the last 5 years of practice exams, and bonus points out the ying yang. It is hard not to breed lazy students under those conditions. So back to the subject of the thread, are the B and C license questions about all the different categories in the SIM, like my A license exam was? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I can tell from reading this thread fruitlooping is not pulling some one cutaway handle. That was just an accident that was mentioned above that happened when some one got fruit looped. I don't think any one with a right mind would find that acceptable, in any conditions. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  18. Zig, can you please elaborate on the ***Line of death*** Thanks. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  19. You're cracking me up. If you find time where you aren't busy shot gunning lawsuits at people I would love to have a beer with you. As far as the tooth ache goes, come on over. A 5th of jack, a 2lb mini sledge, and I will have your tooth ache fixed in no time. On the flip side if I get sued, I will be sure to call you and admit that I was a fool. I think I will try and keep my big yap shut for the rest of this thread. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  20. no, i am simply going to tack all of 1 inch of pile velcro on it, and away I go. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  21. It is just the internet, and most of these people had some very good points, even if I think they are getting a little worked up and are exaggerating the legal risk. You should let things roll of your back, especially internet comments. Check this bad boy out. iespell.com I still would like to know how many of u have your own lawyer drafted waivers for when you do jumps that don't fall under DZ business. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  22. I guess it depends on your dz. I have most of my jumps at a small c206 drop zone. I spotted through AFF, and my first jump on self supervision I spotted for myself and two tandems. I talked to others students that are at a twin otter dz and they don't have nearly as much exposure, but how can you with such a big load. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  23. Scissors? Damn I didn't consider that, you are pretty clever. Allways a thinker. Maybe I can chop the end off with a sharp rock. I don't want to lop the excess strap off my new 300 dollar altimeter. I don't think I would be able to hem? the newly cut section well enough to keep it from fraying at the cut. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  24. Hey Mick. I don't have any beef with Aerodyne, which is why I asked the question. I think the ICONS that my college club/team uses are excellent, and I love the pilot that I jump. It was an innocent question, I think my gear is at the top of the bunch, but I had heard from others that it wasn't at the top as far as gear goes. Obviously there are different quality levels in gear, but that doesn't mean the lower ones are unsafe. Chevy versus bmw. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  25. I am going to tack a piece of pile velcro on the outside of the strap for a solution. I am afraid the excess strap is going to prick important stuff when I am gathering up the canopy, or stowing my brakes. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
