  1. This whole anti-gun political correctness has gotten to the point of stupidity. many years ago I was in a class and I mentioned to a buddy that I was going to go shooting on the weekend and all the conversation stopped as the class let out a shocked gasp. People looked at me as though I had just proposed enforced sterilization of minorities!! A girl looked at me with disgust and said "I am VERY disapointed!.. I thought better of you!" It started with smokers, now it's gun owners..who's next. I am not a gun nut but the anti-gun lobby need to lighten up a little. Richards. PS I hope the anti-gun gestapo don't arrest me for using the word gun on the internet. 3. Most of the traditional superheros do not fit me. Are there any heros that suit a professional student who has no life and is a lazy ugly good for nothing with BO and a beer belly? Please inform. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

  5. It is not neccessary to throw an incumbent out just because; however in Canada we have had Liberal domination of our country for so long that it was unhealthy. A country needs at least two viable alternatives for government if the interests of democracy are to be served. A monopoly is a monopoly whether it be a store or a government. For example if there was no real Republican alternative in the U.S., Americans would only be able to choose WHICH Democrat they wanted as President rather than choosing between a Democrat and a Republican. In this case it is also worth noting that for the first time in my life we have a PM who is not from Quebec. Nothing against Quebec but the unwritten rule that Prime Ministers can only come from Quebec also raised serious questions about whether or not the interests of Canadians were being served. Imagine if for example as a result of Civil War bitterness there was an unwritten rule that a President could not be from the south, or for that matter couldn't be from anywhere but one northern state. I think in THIS case it was healthy to throw out the incumbent regardless of the job they were doing (which was a bad job in this case), however you are right to say that such an act should not be automatic. 7. I have my A liscence and was about to get my B liscence ( passed the test but my medical had expired and I was too lazy to do anything about it and procrastinated for too long so I couldn't get the B). Unfortunately due to circumstances I had to take a hiatus from the sport 3 years ago. I am planning to start jumping again this year however I am uncertain of my status. I think that your COP's are non-expirable but I am not sure. I realize that I will of course need to renew my CSPA and have a safety check on my gear which has been in the closet for 3 years but does anyone know if I will be sent back to student status or if they will still recognize my A? Please let me know. Cheers, Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  8. I might try sending in troops to grab him if I thought the risk to those troops was reasonably low, but only if they had shitloads of air support. Otherwise I would have the airforce drop a Daisy Cutter and it would suck to be anyone in the general vicinity of Mr. Terrorist. 9. Good riddance to Paul Martin and his corrupt cronies. I look forward to more accountability in our government, better relations with the U.S., actual funding for our military (or whats left of it), and a government that is willing to put criminals behind bars for more than five minutes. It is a good day for Canada, and for democracy. Hoo-ahh!!! 10. These figures indicate that there are roughly five times as many murders in the US as in Canada however they have ten times our population. Proportionally ours is twice theirs based on those numbers. Our politicians in Canada love to make comparisons to the US and feed the Canadian superiority complex by twisting things to make it look like things are better here. In reality while the US has historically had a greater crime problem than Canada, theirs is on the decline while ours is on the rise. In the US politicians came to realize that they had a problem and were willing to make hard decisions even though those decisions would be unpopular and might lose them some votes. The Canadian courts and government lack the stomach to make some of these hard decisions, because they are afraid that special interest groups will take offence to any real anti-crime initiative and might not vote for them in the next election. Our politicians seem obsessed with continuing to apply useless feel good crime fighting measures like;...Sending cops into rough neighborhoods to play basketball with local youth...Lamenting about how more basketball courts and community centres will make these gangsters put down their guns...etc. It has become ridiculous here. The thugs on the street are laughing because they know that our authorities will do nothing to them. Every time these thugs commit an act of violence, our authorities remind the public to be sympathetic because these thugs are apparently "poor disadvantaged misunderstood victims of exclusion". Yet should a Canadian act in self defense in any effective manner, he will have his life ruined by the courts because Canadians are not allowed to defend themselves. So if you are a thug and you know the courts will not really punish you but they will throw the book at your intended victim if he/she hurts you in self defense WHERE IS THE DETERENCE???!!!!! I would not mind being unable to arm myself for defense if our authorities would do something to ensure my safety but they won't. Therefore it should not be a surprise that our crime is on the rise while America's is on the decline. We are merely reaping what we have sown from years of extreme left wing liberalism. Perhaps if we get our heads out of our asses and stop acting like the snotty Anti-American Euro trash of North America we might actually be able to come up with a sensible solution to our problems. I like to think that the upcoming election will bring about some change but perhaps I am being naïve. Canadians fear progressive change and would rather let Uncle Paul make their decisions for them. 11. Don't know him very well but he seems like a nice enough guy from the few posts I have seen. I am too new here to have an opinion that holds any weight, but I do hope the guy does get another chance. Wish you luck Alex. 12. If you haven't already realized this, you are going to love it. Texans are some of the most wonderfull people in the world. I went there for a visit once (San Antonio) and I was amazed that you could find such a freindly culture, particularly since it was a reasonably large city. In particular if you tell a Texan that you are from out of town they will bend over backward to be hospitable to you (this might be a general southern thing). A freind and I were walking around downtown and did not know where to find a good bar. We approached two women and explained that we did not want to bother them but we just wanted directions to a good bar. Once they found out we were from out of town and that we weren't trying to harras them they became our personal tour guides ( If we tried that where I live they would have told us to piss off). I have a very high opinion of Texans and would love to have the opportunity to live there. I know you will love it. Cheers, Richards. Not sure what to make of that. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  15. Hi peacefuljeffrey, You clearly are mistaken here. Don't you realize that it is not racist when black people make remarks like that? It is only racist if white people make remarks like that. That is because everyone who is not white has been soooo victimized by us that it is their inherent right to make comments that would be deemed racist if white people made them. 16. I think it is unrealistic to expect it to not happen in a war. I do however think it should be used sparingly and only with certain high value enemy personell. Randomly doing it will turn civilian populations against you and is counterproductive. 19. I think the concern comes from the fact that Iran has spewed some of the most hatefull anti-Isreali rhetoric in the middle east lately. I recall the president of Iran stating something to the effect that he wanted to wipe Isreal off the map. I can appreciate that both the US and Isreal have a strong desire to limit Irans capabilities so they are limitted to mere threats. It is kind of a shame because I was under the impression a few years ago that Iran was becoming one of the most progressive countries in the middle east. Can anyone tell me what caused this sudden relapse into "I hate the world-Jihad" mode? 21. Sounds like a good idea. Let the community know who he is so they are aware of the risk he presents. It also will encourage people to contact the authorities at the first sign of trouble from that individual. This will pressure him to conduct himself in a socially acceptable manner. In addition to this I also support collecting DNA from violent criminals (not everyone)to create a data bank. This would further make some of these clowns check their behavior. 22. I don't think they are praising the act of becoming an addict so much as the act of overcoming the addiction. I am sure that reformed addicts are aware of how they have hurt their loved ones and will carry that guilt for a long time. I feel that people are merely acknowledging that it must have seemed hopeless when the person was at rock bottom and that it must have taken incredible courage to tackle the problem. An addict will feel so much self hatred that he/she may not want to go on living. Instead of continuing to destroy themselves with drugs or commit suicide they choose to fight a seemingly impossible battle knowing that they may never be forgiven by their loved ones, may never be accepted into their former social circle and may never lead the same quality of life they had before. That takes a hell of a lot of courage and I imagine the praise is just a way of saying to the person that we recognize the magnitute of his/her accomplishment and encourage the person to not lose hope. Remember all addicts are at high risk of relapse and can use every bit of support and encouragement they can get. 23. I don't think I would ever want to spank my kid. I realize how spineless that sounds but I really would not want him/her to fear me. I think there are many other effective methods of punishment that do not require the application of physical pain. In fairness I have never raised a child so I am speaking in ignorance and I don't want to sound as though I am judging those who do spank their kids. I am sure they believe they are acting in the kids best interest. 24. I used to do it all the time up here, however after September 11 they wouldn't let me anymore. They did not say that it had anything to do with the attacks, I just noticed that after that they kept making me check it.
