  1. A skydiver on our DZ had that hapen once, so yeah, a PCIT on a pullout can happen ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. That was quite the interesting skydive would be even more so if the link worked. Link works for me. It shows a mr bill tandemjump with drogue-rider and some other jumpers (2 of which never even come close), plus the most interesting way of mounting 3 camera's on your chin (?) I've ever seen [inline 10.JPG] [inline 11.JPG] ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Since the camera you bought has OIS, it might not be suitable for jumping. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Not entirely true, as both TMs in the attached pics have received dispensation to continue jumping poles with tandems. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Come on over to Teuge and have a talk with the folks @ The Parachute Case
  6. I think there are pretty large differences between vengeances, and I believe they are a canopy for experienced jumpers, ie 500-700+ jumps. I put a couple hundred jumps on mine, still love it. Only had to chop it once, due to the lineset needing replacement a good while back Not even came close on the other hundreds of jumps. Great lift, will float with the best in brakes or rears. Ground-hungry in full flight/front risers. Have had some difficulties with the airlocks after landing, in winds. I did a couple of jumps on some other vengeances, one had a built-in turn and the others were smoooooth canopies, like mine. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Did you eat and drink properly before the tandem? The adrenaline can make you quite nauseous especially if you didn't eat much or didn't hydrate. Other causes may include the way the harness fits/was fitted and/or how agressive the turns under canopy were. Next time, make sure you are well-rested and well-fed before the jump, and ask if you can steer the parachute for a while that may help. Also, jumping yourself will most likely be symptom free The harness will fit better, and YOU are steering. So, consider static-line or AFF as your next jump
  8. Yes, the 300D was known for error99, ie complete lockup that can only be solved with removing the battery. This error seemed to have several causes, most likely a loose contact between the camera body and the battery, CF card, switch or lens. Some lenses (some sigma lensen) seemed to cause a lot of errors, some type of jumps did too (Hercules type airplanes, higher altitude). Other than the above, it's a good camera for jumping. Not sure i'd depend on it for paid work (tandems etc) though. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I've got ~2000 camera jumps (real ones). First few years I used a sight, for filming CRW, FS4 and wingsuit. After that I started filming tandems, first with a sight on both my helmets. Sold the one on my 2nd helmet, found I could do without quite well and sold the 2nd one too. That was a couple years ago. I film mostly tandems these days, sometimes students or FS jumps. Came in 3rd one year in our Nationals, filming AAA, no sight then either. Got plenty of photos published, so seem to be doing alright It's just one less hook on my helmet, and I got a decent price for them CRW I think would be the one discipline I would miss my sight. But since I never get the chance to film CRW anymore, ... ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Try having someone else (a very experienced jumper) jump your canopy. I've seen jumpers pull from a less than optimal position or not slowing down enough after tracking, and get hard openings due to that. Have that experienced jumper pack the canopy themselves too. say what that jumper has to say about your canopy. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. This thread mentions main canopies a whole lot. I don't see any mention of RESERVE canopies in here... Just something to think about since you're not going to buy the rig now (right?): if a 150 main is too small, what size of reserve canopy was in that rig? ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Do not use the harddrive and the memory cards for anything else. Use recovery software. I prefer Sandisk rescue pro, it came free with a number of faster memory cards once, it works and willl handle harddrives as well as memorycards, even though it will ask: is this a harddrive? Nooooooo... You may get a number or all of the files back. Succes mainly depends on whether you've used the drive/card for anything else int he meantime, is it's overwritten with data it's gone. If it was just deleted or simple formatted, you are likely to recover at least a part. Don't use the drive to install the recovery software on. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Does this not cover enough for you? (sorry, couldn't resist) Since we have a good number of rounds at our DZ at times, I could maybe get you a lesson plan, 'm just hoping we have them in English as well (could be, we have brits jumping here sometimes). If you still need it, I could ask around... ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Old thread I know, but yeah, tandems can do competions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjTCpn8Mi9E (tandems @ 0:59 and 1:08, but the rest of the vid is fun too) ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Yup, and I believe yup but not 100% sure on that last one - I think I remember seeing a photo like that but I also think it wasn't a 'regular' passenger. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. I've got a couple jumps on a transfair, loaded at 1.2-1.4 (gained some weight...) Aside from the fact that it doesn't have crossports and therefore can have some endcell closure, I liked mine a lot. Flare is better than a PD-R (and Lightning). ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. The diablo is the only canopy ever that scared me. And I had 800-900 jumps at the time. It is I believe the canopy with the most roll action, ever. Not a canopy you want to make low steering mistakes on. A friend of mine had to cut my diablo away after the canopy opened fine, due to linetwists after undoing a bootie. He loaded it at 1.8~ but you get the picture... I'd stay far away from one at 167 jumps that's for sure. Also the storm is worth much more, given similar condition canopies. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. You're better off filming a A or AA team than rookies. It is much harder to learn how to camera fly FS4 if the team themselves are unsure... ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. You flew a 290? Man, for my progression i certainly do not want to move quickly to a larger WL...but similarly, i wouldn't want to fly a smaller WL too. I commend you for flying that 290!
  20. Some fs4 exits were filmed during the POPS 2012 World Meet since there was a wing-mounted camera for a TV item one load. We had a camera pool, so not our own teams. If I know a team well I usually lead, but trailing is safer during competition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cEjhhPoeq4 trailing exit by me filming a French team: 0:28 - 0:38 leading exit (harder to see because of camera angle) by other Dutch cameraflyer filming the USA team: 1:15-1:40 trailing exit by German camerawoman filming the Dutch team: 1:53 - 2:06 ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. From a videoflyer's perspective, I think it looks nice when you wave or give a thumbs-up from behind or next to the tandem when I'm videoing. You could maybe also point out nice visuals on the plane, or at least tell them to have a good time. Provided you don't show up too prominently on the video (the passenger, plus TM should be the focus) and don't distract the passenger when he/she should be focussing on the TM or the videoflyer. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. We realise that. But you will soon realise that this is a VERY loaded question on this forum, often resulting in flame/brandwars... hence the ducking ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Also, buying a new main means packing it will be more difficult than a main with 100+ jumps on it. For me, that meant I had to buy lots of beer the first 80ish jumps on my brand new spectre... Just sayin' ;-) I for one would recommend a 2nd hand main to most new jumpers.
