  1. >This brings up another question. Why is it so important to have the bridle ring contact the bag gommet? Is it just to keep from burning the frabric on top of the canopy?< When the bag is pulled from the container, and line stretch is happening the pulling force of the pilotchute will be on the bridle. If you leave slack between the grommet and the bag stop inside the D bag it will try to pull to the stop on it's own. This is an uncontrolled action that can cause burning on the canopy. If your pack style does not allow you to pull all the slack out, add a closer inside bag stop to your bridle. jumpervali
  2. Your right on all points. The pre-camp is good to get you into the groove for camp, but don't expect to learn to be an AFF instructor at pre-camp. I did over 50 training jumps with AFF instructors and evaluators after the precamp I attended. There is a formal way to react to what your student is doing. Your flying skills must be good, but "levels of response" is the key to passing the course. AFF is the coolest most fun skydiving you'll ever do, have fun! jumpervali AFF-I-02,SL-I-02,tandem-I,Pro,S&TA e,i,e,i,o.....

  5. From what I've been told (from an otter pilot) the plane was a rebuild with one thing in mind...hauling jumpers. When it was pieced back together the builders set it up to operate efficiently. Take jumpers up quickly and safely. The pilot said "the builders culled all the not needed stuff out of the rebuild." I think of it like a hotrod with doors that don't match. jumpervali
  6. 7. I've been wearing black hightop Chuck Taylors sense I was 11 years old. They've worked for me sense the 70's. I've got flat feet, so their all I can wear. Wow their in style again too for the 5th or 6th time. jumpervali

    chopping?

riggerrob you just gave away your age. Hand feeding out your reserve sounds pretty cool, way to go! jumpervali
  9. I like to let them lead the tempo of the canopy flight. As soon as the canopy is open, and side straps loosened, we together fly the canopy. That way their eyes and inner ear mesh with what is going on. I have no way to explain getting peed on.....it just happened I guess. jumpervali
  10. I pack F1-11 very fast, Z-P a little slower. Normally about 5 min. for my fury, and about 10 min. for my 105. I think because it's new, and doesn't like to get in my xrs bag without a fight. jumpervali

  12. Some ladies need to wear a vest that has the pockets available above the belly. They look like front pockets on a "T" shirt. The reason for this is their center of gravity is lower than a mans. They tend to fly chest high due to their mass being more in their hips than their chest like a mans. If you think you need weights, Are you wearing a tight, slick jumpsuit first? I'd try that first if your not. Choices, choices, choices. jumpervali
  13. The packing data card should have: Harness mfg., s/n, and date reserve mfg., s/n, and date If you have a cypres it's a good idea to list its s/n, and mfg. date on the card also. Then the first repack line on the card should have "assembled by " If there is no info on the card, is there a seal on the reserve pin? Your manuals should show where the pocket is for the card. Some have them behind the mud flap, under the reserve flap, behind the tso on the back pad. ect. jumpervali

  16. Reserves are tested to open in 300 ft. @ 200 mph. 10 times before there put into production. jumpervali
  17. So Clay, you can still aspire to the rank of GRAND pooh-bah. It's a good thing to have goals. jumpervali
  18. As much as I hate to admit it. I thought I had the same problem with my 105 too, but I just had to uncross my legs. Ooops! jumpervali
  19. Yes, you can deploy from either side for them.On the main side you pull out the P/C. On the reserve side you open the pouch and brush it into the wind. It works rather well! Remember I'm talking about the Instructor pulling for them, they are to always use the right side. jumpervali
  20. For a BOC on an AFF jump you pull out the P/C and let it go from the main side. From the reserve side you pull the cable that opens the piano hinge on the spandex pouch and flick it, or tip the students hips. jumpervali
  21. Most canopies you see with the pocket have had a "fix" done to them to stop hard openings. Not many of the new sabre's need them, unless you want one. A lot of canopies when they first hit the market may get a retro this or that, but then the production line begins to ship tweaked or redesigned chutes. Any zp with a slider packing error will SLAM you. Been there. I saw a canopy explode 2 weeks ago from a packing error, he let his tail get unfolded and the slider creep out 2 or 3 inches, then shoved it in the bag anyway. $950 to replace his main. jumpervali
  22. You can get the flaps changed over to tucks. I don't know their cost but I've seen it done. jumpervali
  23. A person from each state with our proxies is a good idea. The 3 balances of power is the way to go, if that's the level it needs to go to. jumpervali
  24. Thing is it doesn't stop with this one topic of regions. You may be giving the popular vote to the board for any topic they address. Would you send even your trusted friend out with your credit card as long as they only bought things they "KNOW" are what you need. If the B.O.D. can ask for this proxy so could anyone. Would you trust YOUR vote to someone without the title of board member? It's a blank check book with your name singed on all the checks. I have faith in my equipment because I control it. "Faith in people," well I'd call it more like hope that their of a good natured, but trust has to be earned. jumpervali
  25. You can pull the main ripcord from both sides on any standard AFF rig. Only if a student is in AAD range should you pull their reserve. Its a very red area! Reserve pulls on a student is an extreme measure. jumpervali
