  1. It is on the Sun Path Web site: http://sunpath.com/web_en/index.php?menu_level1=3&menu_level2=5 If that doesnt work it is under support and then container sizing chart. Hope that helps.
  2. When under your tandem canopy press onthe small ring to see the pressure that is put on the white loop. It will surprise you, there is really a small amount of pressure on it. Further, doing exactly what it is supposed to giving the mechanical advantage.
  3. I agree with you. I will not monday quarterback the TI, he did his job and landed a good parachute. That being said what the hell is he trying to get out of line twists with one hand? Who cares about the video. I didnt see the left hand help out at all. using both hands to twist the risers could have gotten that thing spinning inthe correct direction. When I have line twists like that youbetter believe I am using two hands, two legs, and anything else I can to get is untwisted.
  4. I do not usually like to bash in a public forum, but you are 100% on the mark with this guy. I gave him a pair of brand new tandem pants to alter 4 years ago. Yes 4 years. They were never jumped. Never heard or saw him again. Stopped at his house, spoke to his wife, emailed, called, left messages, threatened law suit. He is no longer welcome at our DZ. When I did eventually hear from him I was promised he would make it right. All BS. Caveat emptor!!!
  5. Great vid, I never saw that one. If he were in the actual path of the skydiver with mal there is not much that could have been done.
  6. oh I wish it were that easy. +1 for the thought though.
  7. Hey, The weather is expected to be perfect this weekend and the Casa is coming to Skydive Long Island in Calverton. Thursday through Sunday. July 29-Aug 1st. Fri NIght-Party in your Pants Sat Night-Luai (Spelling) Stop on by.
  8. +1, for me it is simple, NO.
  9. "or get the S+TA to waiver them" Do you think an S&TA would want to take on the liability of this decision? I wouldn't. If something happens and I waivered it, I hope I can defend the decision in court.
  10. Wow, Is this what we have become? I dont know Amy but that fact this is even being spoken about on here is not very fair to her. How about if it bothers you so much you call up Amy and speak to her in person about her post. A good tactic before making allegations about her behind her back and in front of the skydiving community. Maybe we can give her the benefit of the dought being we have no idea what the background on this situation is. How about we get all the facts before we act. Especially if a Instructors reputation is at stake.
  11. +1 I have been using the one handed method as well, and only once had to assist on a hard cutaway due to ciolent spin. In fact one on Sunday, brake fire into a helicopter main, one hand release it fairly easy. Tandem procedures are in sinc with the one handed as well. To each their own. I see pros and cons for each method.
  12. Skydive Long Island (Calverton)is at the end of the island and seems to be clear more often then most. Although, the Ranch, Cross Keys, and Skys the Limit are good as well.
  13. If this helps one student brought home made cookies, brownies, every time she came to the DZ. I loved it until I realized she was sabotaging my wing loading.lol After complaining about my caloric intake, (ie,my fat ass) she has since brought tuna and turkey sandwhiches...lol
  14. I am very shocked to hear that. I am satisfied with them.. We have strong winds most of the season.
  15. ***I think the calculus is more simple: if you skydive, you're more likely to get hurt than if you spend every weekend sitting on your couch scratching your balls.*** I actually read this whole post and the only thng I got out of it is the concern that I can get hurt scratching my balls? Maybe if you had long finger nails, or a prostetic. What about if you scratched your balls while making a tandem, or your passenger scratched his balls. or for some of you if your passenger scratched your balls.
  16. I have brought this topic up with USPA, and the information I received was that is is completely up to the Tandem Instructor. Although with a law suit youwould have to explain your thought process.
  17. I have jumped icarus 330's and 365's for 8 or so seasons. Never have set the brakes, they open in full flight great. Also, the main toggles have two lines and the flare has 6 lines. It seems to make it easier to fly around if you are doing many tandems a day. Just dont forget to pick up the flare toggles.
  18. ***The point of buying beer is that you'll meet up to 23 (24 in your case) other skydivers.*** At our DZ you will probably only meet two, but you will get to know them well.
  19. Fuel to Fire: If freddie made a tandem jump 3 years earlier, went into a coma for three years and then started, he will meet the time in sport for a tandem I rating prior to completing his first jump class. If there was an avg. jumps per year issued each year with your rating it might help.
  20. Every DZ is a bit different. Our DZ one case of beer after (graduating to solo status and first solo). One case at A license with of course a nice stamp on the forhead. If the older jumpers are making you buy beer for everything you do, tell them to go pound salt. search the threads about beer rules, I am sure you will find numerous conversations about this. As for tipping search again, it had been beaten to death.
  21. +1 Good Luck. Let me know when you get tired of hitting your head on the brick wall, we can have a drink.
  22. FYI, I am having a flashback here. About ten years ago, I took a costume character with a very similar head piece (A large nose). As soon as we left it acted at a rudder and forced us onto our side. All attempts to get belly down resulted in us both ending up on our side. The passenger was an experienced TI wearing the costume, so it was not his body position. Needless to say the drogue may have come out without being in the best position.lol It all worked out but it was a fairly scary demo. Glad this one worked out as well.
  23. Finally, An upbeat, positive, motivational post. Thank god, I almost had lost all hope. Congrats on all the accomplishments, and Yes you met a great man. Jay is just as inspirational as a newly minted A license skydiver. Blue Skys,
  24. Hello, Dave covered it great but to add a little. I had a student who was 267 and in top, top shape. In fact he was a Dr. of Physical Therapy. He purchased his own rig and had a local rigger construct it meeting all requirements for his out the door exit weight. This took a bit of time but he was not discouraged. After he had a rig that was rated completely to include the main and reserve specifications we started him on AFF. Both instructors had to wear some weight, although it turned out due to his flat body position he really did not fall that fast. He finished AFF perfectly and has gone on to compete in relative work around the country. Point being it can be done if you are determined and have the time and money.
