  1. Post: Hay Shawna, I know you said you would not post again. This thread has grown to 8 pages already and I just found it so I won't read the whole thing it would be pointless, every one has an opinon. I also understand why you came here defending yourself. However it would have been more constructive to explain why you chopped the main. Also it would have been more constructive why you havn't explaned that it wasn't a double malfunction. I'm taking it for granted it was pilot error. That is the sinsational part. Skydivers are a close knit community, if you want to be part of us you will have to learn how to defend us. You medical bill might as well be 2 million, you only have to pay what you can afford each month. I hope maybe you can get a credit card to buy teeth. Oh and wing loading is out the window when a student is on ZP or other high performance canopies. A 170 is too small for student jumps. Regardless of what you weigh. I saw the video of your jump. The part in the beginning where you were answering to Rick about your dive flow, he never asked you about you canopy dive flow. Isn't that where you got in trouble? I don't think any skydiver will blame you, other than if you just plan gave up! I think everyone is blaming Rick! Stop defending him you do not know what you are doing.
  2. Javelin student rigs with Mantas, and Falcons, Raiders and PDR's Fun jumpers rental may have triathalions or other type. I do not think we have one canopy under 190 sq. ft. The landing area is HUGE, an entire airfield with a 1/2 mile poured runway down the middle. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
  3. I wonder what the FAA would say? What about your medical card, do you need to check with anyone on this?
  4. That the hard one, and keep in mind if you find one that fits, will you be able to fit the canopies you want in it? _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
  5. Yeah, I was nervious doing that, I had to do barrel roll's and then 360 turns on heading, pitch the droug before 11k. Exit alti was like 14k. But it was actualy easy, doing all that. My biggest challenge was learning to fly Tandems canopies I had never flown before, in a pattern at a new DZ I had never jumped at before, with other T-I's I had never flown with before either. Ha! I almost landed my wife in the pond at Z-hill on a tandem jump there. Boy that would have been sweet, huh? HA!
  6. That and a camera helmet and camera with it. Another useful skill to have.
  7. I know what it feels like, the pull to cut-away. It sometimes feel's like the "dark side" is calling to you, the desire to leave behind all of your real world responsibilities. Start a new life in the Skydiving industry. Looking forward to sleeping in a tent, eating cheap, only being able to afford sandals, and staff t-shirts. Surviving only because you get discounts on stuff like re-packs, food form the concession stand.
  8. This raises and interesting question, if you are gonna do drogueless RW on a tandem. How long can you wait before throwing the drogue?
  9. How many jumps do you have? How long have you been skydiving? _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
  10. Well, I just got the news a few hours ago, I'm going to be a grandfather! My little girl is 3 weeks along, and apparently from what her mother said, her and the boy are in love, and will stay together. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
  11. I don't feel that this was an unsafe thing to do, or put me at an undue high risk. Yes, I was going faster than if I was under some huge boat. But I think the benefit of learning to fly a "real" canopy from the beginning outweighted any increased risk. We were taught how to fly and flare it properly, and the instructors were very concious of the winds and grounded us often.
  12. I like it! IT's gonna get moved though, this place is hollowed ground, I understand why the other are upset. That was funny _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
  13. Shayna, re read this statment. This is the bottom line, and I think it is worded perfectly. This is what everyone one is in an uproar about. Your one post could have been more constructive with details, instead you came on here trying to defend yourself, and as you can see you have accomplished nothing: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Am I the only one that doesn't understand why people are making such a huge ordeal over this topic? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She was put out on inappropriate gear, without adequate instruction to operate the gear in a manner that allowed for a safe landing under an open parachute. The interviews give the impression that the gear failed (the main did not malfunction), or that she was the only person at fault. She was set up for failure by her instructor before she exited the aircraft. Her interviews skew the facts in hopes of obtaining handouts. g! _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan

  15. Post: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So you don't think that Gays are asking for a redefinition of marriage? Have you always thought that marriage was not defined as a union between male and female? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the 1967 Loving case, when the Supreme Court outlawed any bans on interracial marriage, Warren's decision closed with these words: "Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival. To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discriminations. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State." It says person, not person of the opposite sex.

  20. To get my "A" I took a trip to Eloy. I did 5-6 jumps a day and spent 10 minutes a day in the tunnel. I'll bet i'm a much better skydiver than someone that did 2-3 jumps a day for several weekends. I think the more experience you get the better. Especially early on. That has been the case for me. I saw another guy in Eloy who traveled from canada. Finish ASP (AFF) in a day. I saw him in the tunnel that night.. Looked pretty good. The way to go is total submersion... If you can afford
  21. After Iraq becomes a Shiite dominated fundamentalist Muslim state and merges with Iran, what will the new country be called?

  23. If a woman can through a drink in a mans face for advancments in a bar, and the bouncers through the man out. Can a man punch the everliving shit out of a gay man for the same? Politicaly correct? or should all of us "straight" guys learn to give in to the minority. So you want to run aroungd in a G-string waiving a rainbo flag screaming "look at me", "look at me".
  24. I don't think I could if I wanted to, I just wanted you to understand that I wasn't trying to. I want you to understand your WL may be a little high for your experience, your getting gear you did not want (170 instead of 168) no AAD, almost exceeding budget. You state your gonna have 400 jumps next year, are you sure that "well I'm going to grow into it" is a good/safe statment. Did you read what Remstrer wrote? You asked for advice on used gear I gave it with a smily face and stated I don't want to flame. Why would you ask me too? Enjoy your purchase, have fun. I hope to see you in the sky someday. Big Nelli out...... _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
