I paid $150 plus slots to mike turrof in 2000 at skydive Houston. 2005 Todd Spillers from Aggieland was asking $175 plus slots min. 3 students. I offered the staff at Spaceland where I was employed at the time $50 bucks plus slots to "hook up" friends, the only requirment was to have up to date books.(within 2 years) NO ONE applied for a course! Fuck, I then learned to stop trying to give myself away, no one in this sport will appricate you for it. If I were to teach a course today it would be $200 plus slots, no exceptions. You can hate me for it, or not care about it, but skydivers dont appricate kindness. Period!

My cypres just expired, do I turn it on to jump ?
NelKel replied to buzi's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'm not going to debate you on AAD's or RSL's for that matter. I think, but have no proof, that it might misread or malfunction possably due to a weak battery and misfire. -
It's cajun. 'What- far dem jump from planes". Atleast thats what I have always known about the term Whuffo. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan

What's the point of the Incident/Fatality Thread...
NelKel replied to skykittykat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wouldn't start a thread in incidents unless I had all the facts, and was a wittness having first hand information. Who (out of respect may remain nameless) What When Where How Why Often these are not included in the first post. Sometimes posters are asking about an incident they heard about, and think others may have the answers. Sometimes threads never reach a conclusion as the facts are never known. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan -

Did you scope out the landing strips they showed? -------------------------------------------- No, but I could not believe the short take off and load capacity. I think this might be the BOMB for jumping. Unfortunately it will be 15 years before there is one old enough on the market I could afford.

My cypres just expired, do I turn it on to jump ?
NelKel replied to buzi's topic in Gear and Rigging
Topics of this type are what somtimes lead other fourm reader, and poster to call Troll! I am not accusing this poster of being a troll, I just want to use this as an example. For a skydiver who needs to follow the user manual and manufacture guidlines in the use of skydiving equipment, to knowingly break the rules and post it here on a worldwide fourm could be mistaken by others as trolling. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan -

NelKel replied to buzi's topic in Gear and Rigging
IF you are going to jump, leave it off. Just cause, not that an expired cypress will cause a premature activation. BUT realize you are breaking a few rules if you were to jump that here in the USA. I do not know what the Canadian rules are. I am also not condoning your actions, please be smart. -

I PM'ed all the moderator's to lock it cause YOU are makeing the skydiving community look like a bunch of insunificant little bitches. If you want to argue about insurance, or driving start your own thread, but hijacking this one for your own pleasure makes you a troll. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan

Yeah, I had the same shit. It is not so much the tuck tab, as if you will notice the blurp or the hump your reservce causes at just below shoulders. Your rigger is not placing the canopy in the D-bag properly thus leading to the D-bag not being placed in the tray properly.I discussed this at length with Ankie and Collin. Basically what we came up with is ( Tell your rigger to stop packing Wings like a Javilen), and read to the wings manual" I brought my shit strait to Collin in Z-hills, I swear I have never had an issue with it since! Strait up! I always tell the rigger to look how tight my shit looks, and to take note. I think it is worth mentioning I had a cut away and reserve deployment in this configuration before, it worked fine! _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan

Have you ever cut away from a slider up
NelKel replied to NelKel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Kewl! I was on the ground in about 2002 when a military JM was landing his personal gear. I noted that his slider was kinda up to the rest of the group of jumpers watching. The JM later stated that "no shit, I thought I was coming in hot". We Later realized while packing that a silicon bumper was inavertently brought up with the slider from the last pack job. I mean the silicon bumper was trappen in the slider grommet. IT was inadvertantly brought up the lines from the last pack job. It caused the slider to hang up about 1/2 way down. The JM landed unevently. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan -
Have you ever cut away from a slider up
NelKel replied to NelKel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think I know what your asking, but define a "hung" slider. I don't think any amount of pumping would clear that. The only thing that would clear that would be to reach up and grab it, and we both know that isn't possable _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan -
Out of curiosity, how old are your little girl and her boy?

Have you ever cut away from a slider up
NelKel replied to NelKel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have found that flaring all the way, holding, and then stroking the bottom end of the flare to be more effective at clearing a slider up mal. _________________________________________ Someone dies, someone says how stupid, someone says it was avoidable, someone says how to avoid it, someone calls them an idiot, someone proposes rule chan
