didnt the pilot at Loveland Co in the 80 live after the midair w/ a commuter that killed a bunch?? Dave something was the pilots name. Got tossed from the plane then opened.

Some 4-way dude @ Skydive Houston named "Johnny Skydive" has a kit w/ white canopy....black bones & Scull. ... word has it,,,his 4 way team mate want to jump w/ a Ski Helmet ...Kool Eh.

It is much easier to go to a boogie "USPA less" and renew at a boogie than to prove your USPA membership is current and in the mail.

Back when the earth was still round...... and i was Studying Engineering. 1) Find the Cheapest Rent possible (i was paying 90/month plus utilities....just turn the heat and ac off! 2) Pack at the DZ.... i used to do about 10-20/day @ $each to pay for jumps. Didnt like throwing students out much....they are not safe! 3) Ive never had a car payment. Drive the most fuel efficient auto u can find , 50 mpg vw rabbit at the time. fixed everything myself. Hithhike when possible... (Tom Pirus gave me a ride on the way to the the boogie at Us Nationls once..they yr the Air Bears Won 4-way) 4) Eat Ramen noodles, pb&J. Mac/cheese. Hot dogs. 4.5) Camping is cheaper than a hotel at a boogie. If you dont have a tent...sleep in ur canopy. 5) When going out to eat/drink ...... just eat the leftovers on ur friends plate:) or eat before u go.... sneak in a beer... to fill ur glass:) 6) Do anything u can at the DZ for a free jump.... I cleaned the restrooms in the morning for a free jump or two. 7) Demo Jumps were free too! 8) move in w/ mom:) when possible. Married now so i cant:( 9) u dont need a tv etc. (never owned one till 28... and i still have it) 10) work for a buck or two when u have the time..... 11) all these can be done today.....

I jumped with a guy from OK ( Mark Herndon) in the late 80s early 90s, he started base jumping before he ever made a skydive froma plane..... He started as a climber. When he was climbing a cliff (maybe in CA??).... canopies from base jumpers were opening around him ....which sparked his desire to start base jumping. A while back...someone mentioned that he quit base after 99 jumps...... Mark...u still alive??

I was president of OSU Skydiving club in the 80s.... hit the school up for cash...for ur skydiving program.... give em ur budget (include practice jumps and trip to nationals) we ended up w/ about 2-4 k per yr in funding...that was in the 80s! mm [email protected]

last time i posted in in "gear and rigging", they wanted more technical questions... Thread tensile strength, harness hardware fatigue life.....funny that this post was transfered. I think the general public might answer this better....oh well...i guess some people in this forum have run too many off. anyone know how many cubic inch volume of a batwing 116.... ill take the answer in any unit of measure.......thanks in advance

i have a couple of pack volume chats but they do not show pack volume for a batwing 116 anyone have a clue, i dont. "drive fast, take chances...pass around blind turns"

There will "always" be someone better than you (unless ur the best). If you have 1, 10, 100, 1000 jumps...there will be someone talking trash. Its like any other situation when someone talks trash....trash them or take it:) mm

Just find another DZ...when i started jumping... a Guy "burned In" where i was training. The DZ closed. Ended up buying a used rig for cheap. (a friend of mine purchased the guys rig that "bit the dust" for really cheap!!!!) Check with the DZO and see if he is unloading anything. Its like moving, its not the location, but the people you meet that will make the situation fun!
