  1. Riser disconnect = repack. Don't diddle around with gimmicks - be safe - who wants his canopy on backwards?
  2. Get the "B". It will "force" you into some training and paying attention to requirements. It will also open some doors for you vis-a-vis jumping opportunities.
  3. My half braked landings are like that. As soon as I put my Orthopedist on speed dial, I'll try the no-brakes landing when the winds are right. And I thought I was the only whacko out there to do things like that!
  4. You don't know the restraint I showed in NOT making that comment.
  5. Well, you can but you won't like the outcome.
  6. I have not intentionally tried for altitude gain but I certainly have hovered a few times! Rate of descent is, of course, dependent on what I am doing with (to) the canopy, but it is slow regardless. One of these days I would like to try landing it with no flare. Half braked landings are easy if I pay attention to business.
  7. 2,600 plus jumps -I'm using a 370 sq.ft main & reserve (MT-1XX military canopies) loaded at .63 : 1.
  8. Does anyone know if the Quantico, VA parachute club at MCS, Quantico is still in operation?
  9. In physics, acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity of a moving object. Therefore, it can mean either speeding up or slowing down.
  10. My ParaGear obtained press says "Amer. Casting & M Co, Plainview, NY Made in USA" No other identification on the press.
  11. Wait a minute....your 28 year old seal press still works, but is poorly made? What else do you have that is still working after 28 years? BTW, my ParaGear seal press is still working after 35 years and I do not consider it poorly made.
  12. Loaded firearms may be carried openly in a vehicle by any person qualified under Federal law to possess a fiorearm. Concealed carry is limited to those individuals who possess a Louisiana license to carry. Such permits are granted by state authorities on a "shall issue" basis. Open carry of a firearm in a vehicle may be interpreted to include carry of a firearm in the glove compartment. Louisiana permits open carry of a firearm on foot except while on school grounds.
  13. Remember, on E-bay it is buyer beware. Send no funds until the rig passes YOUR riggers inspection. There is much hyperbole in some of the descriptions I have seen. Remember it is priced that low for a reason.
  14. I agree - ParaGear sells a good quality rubber band. One pound of bands will last you a LOOONG time.
  15. Broken femur - 8 places - on a military jump on Taiwan with an MC-1B. (Do not land on the side of a dry rice paddy.) Broken ankle & fibula with a CruiseLite. (Do not flare too late.)
  16. Would not the French grounding of the Odyssey fall into the category of better safe than sorry? As in "let's keep an eye on this until we find out what, if anything is wrong"?
  17. Does anyone have an in-the-air photo of a Pioneer MK I ParaCommander - specifically the "Church Window" color pattern - black with multi-color keyhole? Thanks in advance.
  18. Is that a $.50 increase or a 50% increase? A big difference. Gas prices here are up about $.25/gal in the past week. More to come, I'll bet!
  19. Can't beat that! THANK YOU, Bill!
  20. I store mine unpacked in a kit bag until I'm ready to pack for the next jump. Loose, in a cool, dark place is the way to go.
  21. Has anyone ever heard of anyone being struck by lightning in freefall or under canopy? Yes, I know we shouldn't jump when the conditions are amenable to lightning, but stuff happens. If this happened, I would assume no survivors, but as I said, stuff happens.
