  1. that's an awful lot of words to use to say "no".
  2. just because you buy it at that price doesn't mean you have to jump it immediately. you could even get another canopy and put inside if you need to. you didn't mention what you're jumping now so we have an idea of how far down you will be going in this move. that also make a difference, as going to a 170 from a 190 is much better than from a 240. but after considering this, wendy is right. what i would do in your case is get it and put a 190 in it, but i don't know you so ask someone who does first. just another option to consider.
  3. you're feeding the troll again. of course this one has no idea what crt is, that is more than obvious from the beginning, but more so after the last comment. go on, ask him what crt is and see what he says. the fact he groups it together with blm is telling, and as much as i hate to call folks racist, this one sure is acting a lot like it. hard to tell them from the trolls though, what's your thought on it? of course, i already spelled it out in one of my comments, so he has the chance to actually get it right, but he won't. trolls don't act like that and racists can't admit the truth about it.
  4. thought so. now i know. troll it is. and not very good at it really if this is what you act like when asked one time for some supporting evidence to support what were obviously lies. enjoy the rest of this whatever you're doing here.
  5. then provide a few examples of actual things being taught that are wrong in your opinion. or one.
  6. the point everyone is missing completely about critical race theory is, once again, the name. i am inclined to believe the democrats are sabotaging their position on purpose at this point, as it doesn't take a genius to figure out that these divisive names are not what you want to throw out there if you actually wanted to implement the programs. take the defund the police movement that has everyone in an uproar and that has no intention of actually disbanding or taking the funding away from the police, but rather has an agenda of taking away the military equipment and sourcing other agencies for response to calls that don't involve crimes where an armed intervention is not needed, such as mental health calls. they could have framed that in a very different way making it much more acceptable to all involved, but no, they had to go for the sensationalism. same with critical race theory. they could just as well call it teaching the accurate history, which is the only thing that it involves. then, rather than idiots arguing over what the meaning of the material is, it is rather simple to conclude that we are just teaching facts instead of the whitewashed history most of us were indoctrinated with. the us was founded on racist principals, and they have been revived over the centuries in one way or another and now, when enough folks want it to stop and the facts be taught, everyone is stuck on the terminology and not the actual content. i know for a fact that one particular commentor has no idea what he/she is talking about when referring to crt, as there is nothing specific pointed out that is factually incorrect, or any other attempts at pointing out the flaws in any of it, because there is nothing personally known about it. that is a textbook definition of trolling.
  7. website yep, calling you buddy was a poor attempt at sarcasm, as you are definitely not my buddy. maybe i needed the "/s" in parentheses. you may or may not be aware that buddy is only half a word, but i doubt that too. and as for being wrong, you're getting pretty good at it, no matter how you dress it up with flowery language. a rose by any other name and all that. and no, you don't have a right to be willfully wrong, and i can show you a website that underscores that. last point, i would have definitely been banned to call you out on what you really are. it's not so much calling you a name as it is placing you in order in my head. it ain't all about you, no matter how much you think it is.
  8. quick question buddy, did you make that statement billvon quoted or not? it looked like he just quoted you, but then you said you didn't say it. i don't feel like looking, but inquiring minds want to know... then you go on to expound your statement with another contradiction. this time you said, and i quote, "Such familiarity as I have with the tenets of CRT, BLM, etc, I pick up from such sources as NPR, interviews with and publications by the founders of these movements/isms and published espousals of these movements. I take second hand accounts with a grain of salt - if at all." which seems to me like you just said you got some second hand accounts and listened to them, then in the very next sentence you said you discard second hand accounts. now i may not be as well read as you (but i probably am) nor as well educated (thank the gods of that), but i have been able to read since i was four years old, and some members' comments about my writing style aside, i can understand almost anything you could think to put out there, but this is pretty obvious to me, and also the reason i called you a troll. unless you have a good explanation or will try to change the meaning of some word or another, then my assessment stands. go on, i'll wait. skies look pretty good today, i may get a few jumps in.
  9. again, as if i forgot tom mention it before, i did not call you a racist bastard, you're a troll, plain and simple. you're obviously well read, and possibly well educated, but beyond that i will refrain, since i am tired of getting banned. you have no concept of trying to understand any of what crt means, otherwise, you would know that it is just removing the whitewash from the history and teaching that we had flaws. good evening.
  10. if i thought you were a racist bastard, i would have no qualms pointing that out. if you are racist, it's one of the passive ones, but whatever. the reason we can't just all get along is that some folks need someone to put down in order to justify themselves, so they invented race and the rest is history. just like denying science when it says the earth is not flat, but round, you can deny all you want, but it is a thing and some are still suffering from it. i think you should not be so hesitant to allow folks to examine their history openly and honestly and not be so quick to judge critical race theory until you actually understand it. cheers.
  11. too bad my internet is spotty at the farm or i would have been able to participate in this shit show when it was recent, rather than now. anyway, the information provided by you in this paragraph is worthless, as it does not describe people any longer, but it now describes groups. not only is the premise flawed, it is well known that groups of people do not behave as people do. i can't recall the information supporting it, but there are so many examples someone should have that handy, i would look it up but have to work shortly. after reading this whole thread, i expect that sort of deflection from a racist spouting obviously racist comments. after carefully parsing all of the comments for a third time, i decided that you were just trolling, and i hope i am right in that regard. some people just use terms and phrases like that which have been crafted by propagandists to contain just enough of that grain of truth to appeal to folks and get them using said racist terms. it looks like you may have been deceived by that, and there is no shame in that. those guys are good at what they do. take the stereotype of blacks being lazy for example. notably, it comes from slave owners in the south who would classify them as lazy since they didn't do the work they were thought to be capable of. well, they had no incentive, so of course they didn't work as hard or as fast as they could. so it stuck. similar thing with the fried chicken and watermelons stereotype. that came from reconstruction when those were the items that blacks could sell which had the least overhead and were easiest to grow and raise, therefore getting more profit and/or food from the least amount of effort. it turns out that when viewed as individuals, blacks are not really any more lazy than any other race. there is a huge range of individualism in every race or group of people, and some stereotypes are not rooted in reality, but perceived reality. they are very close to the same thing, as my lazy example shows black folks not doing as much work as they are capable of, but the reasons for this lack of "work ethic" is not only wrong when viewed under the right lens, it is also a sign of the "systemic" portion of said racism due to the way it was formed. the only other point i have to add to this discussion is that i could have sworn that lens was spelled "lense". took me a bit to accept that part.
  12. i didn't read the article as i don't have an interest, but the paragraph you have in bold does say exactly what you reworded below. the court has discretion with sentencing AFTER consideration of the sentencing guidelines. depending on how good the lawyer arguing the case is, or how much money the plaintiff has, he may well plea down the charges with mandatory sentencing guidelines or be found not guilty of them.
  13. now i am not a doctor, but i jump at a cessna dz. when i asked about the lower ceiling we had last weekend that was holding up the tandems, i was told last weekend that the regs for tandem say they can't get out lower than 10k. also, don't the aircraft that go above 14k msl carry supplemental oxygen so they can follow the regs for that? i know that our dz couldn't offer oxygen if they wanted to, but not sure if a dz would even want to assume that level of liability. as far as not descending with a full load of jumpers, i doubt that anyone would go ahead with jump run with a medical emergency on board, but someone could be that money hungry out there. people are strange sometimes, and greedy most of the time.
  14. hell yes! i was shopping for a new container anyway and love web design.
  15. it took me 22 years to get my a license for various reasons, mostly not having the money and time to devote to it full time to get good. you got lucky as hell once, don't push it. some don't get a second chance.
  16. that's how it is for me also, and i would bet that there is a flaw in the website code that allows for some injection of some sort. the code should allow each individual comment to contain all the code put in, not to carry it on for the entire page as it does now. i haven't looked at it though, not nearly enough time for that with everything else going on. some of the websites i visit have a function to make the code not work at all if the closing tags are not there, sort of a failsafe that stops injections, but i'm not sure what they call it, not my area of expertise. maybe sanitizing input would cover it.
  17. i read something about it last year. ifly had some problems with folks getting out of the tunnels and dislocating shoulders. can't recall how long it was, may have been longer with losing last year and all. i wish i could recall the details, but it didn't pertain to me at the time. i was curious and did a quick look and found that most of the ifly locations don't say you can't fly with a prior shoulder dislocation, but all of them mention it. not surprisingly i can't find any of the stuff i read about previously.
  18. i don't think i would not tell them; they can pull your arm out of the socket very easily if they didn't know it was injured and were trying to guide you. i would take the doctor's release and they can add it to the waiver and let you fly. also they can make sure not to pull on that arm, or maybe even stay on the other side while guiding you around. but i am not a doctor or a tunnel instructor, so...
  19. i found another page with bold covering half the post.
  20. oh, i don't know. i jump old raven reserves because i like them and they are cheap. maybe a new market for used mains?
  21. that would be a benefit from the litigious society we have evolved into. it is also the type of thinking that sets limits towards the bottom of the curve in order to save as many lives as possible. sure some can jump a camera at under 100 jumps, i have seen it. some may not be able to until 210. i just noticed last weekend that my jump numbers are inflated in reference to my skill. it took me 22 years and 61 jumps to get my a, and when i took the course for my coach rating, i had a 1306 from the military and got 19 static line jumps under a round added to make 100. now, at 130 jumps, i have way less skill than someone who has 130 jumps in a normal progression in a few years. i have great canopy control and awareness, and have actually done night and water jumps, along with jumps of more than 500 people at a time, so that aspect is safe, but my flying skills pale in comparison to some. i'm not one to stifle progress, just one that advocates doing it safely. if that means that you can jump a camera safely at 120 jumps (or whatever number) and demonstrate that to an s&ta and get a stamp on your license, so be it. actually, having endorsements on license has been done with driving for a while. maybe we can come into the times and start doing it with skydiving.
  22. i did read it, and that's why i threw in the part about facebook. even those who don't look at fox news can be influenced by it there. instagram and twitter also, and a few others, but facebook is bad.
  23. you also failed to realize that what they are getting bombarded with, if they consume fox, is propaganda. that is hard as hell to counter. it's also all over facebook and most other social media sites, and is very convincing when it confirms your preconceived notions.
  24. at least i know you're trolling and not an idiot now. sorry about that assumption previously. i am going to need you to think now, this is hard to understand, even for those of us who are a tad smarter than average. when you have a newborn baby, one right out of the mom, you can lay it down for a few hours without touching it and it will live. when you take one earlier than about 26 or 28 weeks, you cannot do that. therefore, before that time, it is not alive, or more precisely, it is a fetus and not a child. if you can lay it down and walk away for a while, it is a child. now, carry on with whatever is amusing you currently, as none of it makes any sense in society at large.
  25. you know how you can tell the gop doesn't care about anything other than controlling women in this abortion bullshit? they try to use "christian" values, but totally ignore the fact that the bible says a child has no soul until it takes it's first breath. so a fetus has no soul, at least according to the bible. to me, it isn't a child until you can leave it alone for a while (a few hours) without it dying. like at least 27 weeks or so (not real sure on when they can). those premies that they put in incubators don't count, since they can't live more than a minute or so without the machines. but then again, i prefer leaving my wishes or desires out of a woman's business. her body, her business, period, no exceptions. piss on anyone who tries controlling them through ANY method without their consent.
