  1. my advice would be that it is much easier to read when you use paragraphs. also, it's wives not wife's, since that denotes possession i think it's called, like belonging to the wife. you may think this is just being smartassed, but that is how much your fuckups matter. it took me 22 years to get my a due to life getting in the way, and me not learning what my feet were doing, because no instructors used video that long ago due to huge cameras. bottom line is keep it up, and keep your feet and knees together when you land preparing for a plf, don't slide in. our manifest person has a broken back from sliding in when she should've done a plf. welcome to the sky.
  2. read the comment above this one. damned near forever it says. i jump a javelin made in '94. has some stains on it and you do not want to freefly with it, but it is airworthy, jumped once yesterday.
  3. have you tried their facebook page? that last picture will likely be the key to returning it. skydance is a cool place to jump.
  4. i don't think anyone is calling for thought control and i'm not arguing, just stating a fact. everyone knows that language changes, and it does so when it needs to. ask anyone about the 2d amendment to verify that. i don't particularly care if anyone accepts this as a fact either. it's ok to be wrong, but in this case, it will never allow the problem to be solved if it cannot be accurately defined. this is part of the definition, and some can't even accept that there is a problem at all. i almost said, "good thing i'm white", but that does nothing to help anyone else. i've always been ok and always will. i have friends who need help though. and i also care about all people, not just the ones who live in the us and look like me.
  5. if it were my idea, i would see your point. i didn't make this shit up, i am repeating what i have learned from others. i didn't agree with it when i first heard it, but when it was explained to me, i got it. it makes sense now. again, your call to learn it or not, i am not able to explain it to you, just point out that you're wrong. it's part of the reason that it will probably never get fixed.
  6. dude, i don't care if you believe it or not, that's what it is. it took me years to accept it, and not until i had a particular discussion one time did it click. prejudice is in everyone, but racism is only there if the power to oppress is there with it. that is the definition of prejudice, not racism. the guy in china that hates asians can't do anything about it systemically, just individually. it makes perfect sense. everyone is prejudiced, some towards skin color, some towards other things. not everyone is racist, even if it is whites hating on blacks. that would depend on the circumstances surrounding it. why is it so hard for folks to accept that things change? one time, giving someone the finger meant "go to hell". sometime that changed to "fuck you". not many recall the go to hell part, and some have argued with me that it wasn't true.
  7. you have to bring what they ask for. if they don't ask for the social security card, you can write down whatever you want, and for a 1099 worker, that means no filing tax returns to pay the money to the govt. has happened many times that i personally know of.
  8. man, you're missing out on all the fun if you're not driving around yelling at folks. you should try it sometime, just be careful what neighborhoods you enter at what time.
  9. it would've been a short one anyway, i have to go rescue my son's car that broke down last night. 18 and learned a hard lesson: listen to dad when he tells you to make sure you have a charger for your phone in the car. phone was dead and he had to walk 3 miles to call me last night. i could've gotten to him in 30 minutes had he texted. too bad i had already started a beer. aaa took significantly longer.
  10. it's ok to be wrong. language evolves, unless it is in the constitution for some strange reason. everyone has prejudice, totally natural to our evolution. race wasn't even a thing until almost 1500 or thereabouts. until then, our tribalism was almost exclusively nation based. i hate mincing words, but they need minced in this case. two separate words with two separate meanings. since i don't really care if you accept it or not, i am done with this one.
  11. turned back individually or by the boatload. there was no official immigration policy in the us until the late 19th century. since it has been a while, i will look into it further, as i could have mis-remembered something important.
  12. power is what makes it racism. you need to research a little more on this subject, as i had to. i had the same arguments you have now, it took a long time for that to sink in to me for some reason. what you are describing in all of those communities is prejudice, not racism. unless they are in their own land, such as asians in china acting in a racist manner towards white folks, or black folks in zimbabwe discriminating against asians. you don't have to agree with the people who wrote the article i linked to in the comment, but that does not make it any less true. without the teeth, it is the same as any other prejudice.
  13. let's see...italians aren't white or slaves, nor are irish, or most eastern europeans as well as most asians, all of which had no restrictions on immigrantion, that i recall until they started with the chinese around 1870(ish).
  14. i had to work yesterday and didn't have time to find any precedents, but i believe that the school loses 1st amendment protection when the student left, did not have any school identification on, and didn't mention the school name or any other identifying things. no school to id, no school 1st amendment protection. but i am not a lawyer of supreme court justice.
  15. no, that would be prejudice, and it does exist in all of us. racism only exists in the folks who hold the power of the system so they can oppress others, in the case of the us, old rich white folks, but the poor stupid white folks have a tendency to be led by the rich ones. then there are the other white folks who just stand by and say nothing. they are racists also, and there are a lot more of them than there appear to be. it took me a while to accept this, but it makes sense when you use an open mind and think about it.
  16. she had a mental defect, dementia. that makes her sub-human, like when the abortion survivors are out of the womb and no longer count.
  17. so no on seeing the contract and having any specific knowledge. noted. why not? if i recall correctly, we had no immigration policy at all until the late 19th century, and for over 100 years did let everyone in without controls.
  18. i don't think the school is considered an agent of the state in this case. there goes my day now.
  19. in this case it doesn't have to trip her, just distract and/or hurt her enough to stop moving for long enough for an officer to cover the ground. of course that would have to be something intended and not just spur of the moment, and it may well not have any effect at all. and it could have been thrown at her body or arms and actually work better than trying to trip her. but again, it has to be a tactic, not an afterthought. we need better and more non-lethal options for police, or training to use them in every scenario with no exceptions first. then when it is habit, introduce lethal means to the training, as a last resort and last in line. something like 5:1 non-lethal v. lethal. when you practice something a lot, it becomes your go to action. right now, they practice shooting a lot and look where it has gotten us. and again, it all may be a pipe dream and may not work in real life, but something needs done.
  20. oh yeah, i recall hearing about some who were pandering that back in the early days of christianity, like 200 - 400 ad. interesting story from years ago.
  21. i disagree with one thing in your assessment, the no other options part. i suppose the other girls could have frozen and not turn away, nor stick out a hand, or anything else and just get stabbed in the chest. it also takes a great deal of force to shove a knife through in that location, unless you get lucky or are skilled enough to miss the ribs. all of that comes down to training. when folks are taught to shoot, and not anything else, that's what they know how to do. there are ways folks can be taught how to disarm a knife wielding opponent, but as i said, some of them hurt. this is where we need to focus the police training, NOT using deadly force when ANY other option is available. hell, throwing a baton at the girls feet accurately COULD have tripped her up and allowed the other girls to dodge or her to miss. all of that is armchair quarterbacking though and doesn't add much to the conversation other than presenting other options. your last concern is the really important part, and i didn't notice that when i watched the video. i've only been in a few, and that was decades ago when i was young and stupid. i don't have any special training, just cat like reflexes and a very high pain tolerance, combined with no fear of dying. that made me a hell of a person to pick on back in the day. these days, i'm old. that's what the pistol is for. i also carry a combat lifesaver kit so i can assist anyone in need. most concealed carry advocates miss that vital part of the social compact regarding weapons and protecting people and themselves.
  22. no, i don't think so. i wasn't remaking on the plan, i was wondering what your thoughts on some mitigation would be. i value the opinion of operators more than regular soldiers in regard to weapons, and former military more than civilians with no experience with them. in the video, it shows the girl getting shot. that happened, so it's hard to take that out, but try since the question i responded to was along the lines of what would've happened had he not shot her. my scenario is a possible outcome, and of all the knife fights i have been in, i have never once saw anyone stand still and get stabbed. they usually move out of the way, but the really crazy ones (like i used to be) lunge toward the assailant. it may hurt a bit, but i can take a knife from most folks. if i were a cop, and had special training instead of just a three month course and a gun, i would have had a much better chance at not getting hurt. if i ever saw a person holding a knife with the blade up, i was more cautious, as that meant they were trying to kill me and had a clue how. it hasn't happened often, but often enough that i know what to expect and how to respond. running away is usually the best choice, although not as fun and sometimes not an option.
  23. i highly doubt that, the interest part that is. i have been hearing about the "last days" for almost 51 years now, and have heard about it going on for millinea. end times? that just ain't gonna happen like you think it is.
  24. but op can't give up when a paycheck (or whatever) is on the line. looks to me like at least two folks working that account, based solely on the differences in language and grammar. some have no spaces, some have them. words and language is different as well. i wonder what the objective is and who is working the account?
  25. you mean like some sort of controlling the guns? like, maybe requiring extensive mental health reviews for assault weapons? or just patching the existing loopholes and make it mandatory for background checks in every single gun sale, even personal. the term well-regulated has been debated, but militia has not. for you to be in the militia, there are all sorts of requirements. why not extend some to the idiots who want to own their weapons?
