  1. 367 jumps and yet to have one. I could go either way. I want a mal just to get it over with and to KNOW that I know what to do. But I use to be scared shitless of one, now I just wait.
  2. Can't wait to see everyone this weekend... Looks like we are in for some GREAT weather!!!!! High is 88 low is 61
  3. You are in the exact situation I was in at your jump numbers. I started on a Sabre2 190 and downsized to a 170 at about 50/60 jumps. I didn't care for canopy flying either, I LOVE freefall! I am 135 (exit of 155). I decided to go for the 170 and I am glad I did because I learned to fly that boat in all conditions and it made me a better pilot. When I downsized to a 150, I could see the difference. it wasn't drastic, but it is noticeable. I believe that you should master the canopy size your on before you decide to downsize because if something happens, a 170 is going to be more forgiving then a 150. What about canopy flight don't you like? Is it the speed? Is it the landings? What specifically? I was on my Sabre2 170 for a little over 200 jumps before I downsized.
  4. Send it back to PD. They have people who specifically go out and jump canopies that have been said to have certain problems and they figure out and fix the problem. If they can't fix the problem, they will usually send you a new canopy. I would see if Kim has a demo for you to use while your canopy is being fixed. Just call PD and tell them your problem. They will help, they are an AWESOME company and stand behind their product.
  5. I have to fucking WORK!!!! why does work ALWAYS get in the way of jumping??????
  6. I was on a Sabre2 170 loading it at .9 for about 200 jumps. Then I downsized to a 150. I don't regret anything! I learned how to fly the 170 in ALL conditions which made me a better and safer pilot. Even though I sometimes ended up landing backing up or just coming straight down, it helped me to really understand my canopy and how to fly it. If it was my choice, I would choose the 190 because it will be more forgiving if you have any problems. I would NEVER buy a smaller canopy when I haven't mastered the larger size.
  7. I lost three friends my first year in skydiving and have averaged 2-4 a year. It SUCKS!!! Then again I have been to a lot of dz's and swoop comps.
  8. Not really sure where this came from. I never said anything about compressing the pattern. All I said was while the OP was spiraling, a swooper is already in the pattern therefore this person is spiraling in someone else's pattern....hence....he is not the ONLY one in the sky!!
  9. Where do you jump? I want to make sure I am NEVER on a load with you!! maybe you should realize that other people are in the air and that you DON'T always have the right of way! Just because your on a larger parachute doesn't mean YOU can't cut someone off. I am willing to bet you HAVE cut someone off and you probably weren't even aware you did. Your statement of: "If I am on top and coming down on you, I will watch out. If you are on top coming down on me (the more likely scenario) then you had better watch out for me" NEEDS TO BE RE-EVALUATED!! If I am reading it right, you are basically saying the only people you need to watch are the people below you. This is how fatalities happen...people NOT watching each other, ABOVE AND/OR BELOW!!!! There is a reason we put people out with space, so we don't all land at the same time. Do you not realize that some swoopers start their turns before you even enter the pattern? You enter the pattern at say 800-1000 ft. A swooper doing a 450 degree turn or higher starts at MIN. 800 ft. How do you expect them to know, that once you stop spiraling until your eyes pop out of your head, you will then enter the pattern and straighten out? That is THE PLAN, but once you skydive long enough, I think anyone can tell you that not everything goes according to THE PLAN.
  10. It looks like it is around 45-50 worldwide. I may be a little off I have a question for the veterans and people that have been in the sport for more then 5 years. I have been in the sport 4 years in December and looking back at everything I have known 14 people who have passed away.... is this normal?? If I stay in the sport, and I will, can I expect that in a given year I will lose 3 friends on average?
  11. Well put Ghost47. I just want to say ditto. To Freeflymickey: Since you seem to have "everything" figured out, I am surprised that your profile isn't filled out......
  12. yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!! I was getting worried there, I guess those membership dues finally paid off.....and who said the USPA doesn't do anything? Can't wait to see everyone......TIME TO PARTY!!!!!!
  13. Don't forget..... some of us will be at canopy nationals over Labor day so you can't have TO MUCH FUN!!!
  14. Papa Dopp in Hawaii had around 10,000 tandems when he took me for my first tandem in 2004. I know the guys and girls in Hawaii average at least 1,000+ jumps a year. It is a tandem factory out there. There were days, when I was taking AFF, that Skydive Hawaii would do over 100 tandems in a day with something like 5-10 TI's. edited to add how many TI's
  15. We had a blast everyone!!! Thanks for the awesome weekend everyone. Without a doubt, one of the best 4th. Lets do it again, maybe we should let Ian come this time
  16. I use a protrack in my helmet and a neptune as my alti. they work great together and I can download everything to my computer
  17. Some of us HAVE to bring our dogs or we don't jump!! I can do one of two things when I go jump 1. Take the dogs with me 2. board them @ $44 a night I have to drive 4-5 hours, depending on if I go to The Farm or Deland. I am NOT going to stop jumping because of my dogs. They are a part of my family.
  18. Has anyone been able to find a rental car for under $60 a day!???? I know it is the convention so the prices are sky high, but $60????? What is everyone else doing???
  19. I don't like the idea of landing in the pond either. Things may end up in places they shouldn't be.
  20. I will do a topless jump, but no naked jump. I haven't landed on my feet at the farm in I don't know how long!!!
  21. we were at the Farm this weekend and had great jumping!!! 3:4:4 I FINALLY GOT OFF 3 DAYS IN A ROW!!!!! Hell has frozen over
  22. Sabre2 190 @ .71- 1-28 jump Sabre2 170 @ .94- 28-210 jump Sabre2 150 @ 1.2- 210 to now I am probably the slowest downsizer in history. I believe that to "earn the right to downsize" your canopy has to be holding you back and I have a very overprotective boyfriend!!!
  23. come on, Sunman was just hot....what else do you expect from him??? Were you on the bus thursday night.....when he smothered the pole with his ass crack and balls??? All I have to say is its Sunman.....he is always good for laughs.
  24. KEVINLOVE without a doubt is the sexiest skydiver on dz.com (even though he doesn't post a lot) A close second........ Ian, love you. Annie is one lucky girl.
