  2. Yes, I believe those to be a pretty basic human right. I believe those are more important than a gun. ***What about transportation, Internet access and weed? Nope. I think I get where you are going here and let me explain the difference in our opinions.... I believe rights are there to allow you to take care of yourself. You seem to believe that everyone has the right to be taken care of. In my belief, I may not always have everything I need, but I only have myself to blame if I don't have it. If I have all of my afforded rights I should have the freedoms to find a way to go get it. In your belief, you have everything provided for you. In doing so however, you will have to do things that your provider wants you to do so that way he can provide. This may mean not necessarily having all the freedoms of me, but you know where your next meal comes from. So how does it feel to be a pet to the government? 5. We can't know if you passed until you give us all your qualifying factors for your "Privilege Points." Are you straight, gay, white, black, asian, bisexual, transgender, or mentally handicapped? 6. Hi Wendy! Where did you find that information? The only thing I could find was that if you did something that raised suspicion (say, bought a one way ticket to Syria) you could get your name added. Mind you, I also don't think anyone knows what the actual triggers are. Can you assist? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 7. From the video I posted above I guess there is a process, but no, there is no due process. Rumor has it you can petition to have your name remove, if you can figure out how. Sounds like an awesome thing to attach your constitutionally protected rights to, doesn't it? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 8. If only the 2nd amendment was treated like voting rights. To exercise my constitutionally protected right to bear arms I had to pay the government a fee, get finger printed, have my information ran through several data bases, show a level of competence and training, and then had to wait several weeks for the results. Mind you, my process was expedited because I'm a veteran. Yep, if this process is OK for one constitutionally protected right, it should be OK for the rest of them. Here TK, lets also put this level of scrutiny on the 1st amendment. Wear a ball gag until you pay a fee and are properly vetted on the off chance you might yell fire in a crowded theater. You can take it off in the privacy of your own home as long as you don't post on the internet... As far as the "one" person on the know fly list, I'm not sure where you got that information, but we all know it's a flat out lie. Seriously, does anyone know what criteria lands you on that thing and how to get off of it? Seems to a secret shrouded in mystery wrapped in an enigma... or enema.... your choice. 9. In his nation wide call for "no fly, no buy" he forgot one little detail..... Trey Gowdey is the man! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNDcd1Fe5lg Keep in mind there are over 700,000 on the no fly list. Half of them are on for arbitrary reasons like buying one way tickets like Journalist Steve Hayes. Others have included, toddlers, high ranking officers in the US military and members of the DHS... 10. Uh, yeah. That's exactly what is being suggested. If you want to change the discussion, fine. But we're talking about a total ban on Muslims entering the US. Weak as shit. When the best you're got is "I know a lot about this, so don't bother disagreeing with me" it usually shows that you haven't examined your thoughts on the matter with any criticality. Nice try shutting me up without actually saying anything. Unfortunately, the tactic is obvious. As my 2nd grade teacher told me, if you can't explain it to someone else, you don't really understand it yourself. Any meaningful rebuttal to my points? Don't worry, I don't really expect anything, but if you'd like to respond, here is your chance. I gave you an awesome starting point to learn about who they are, what motivates them, why they do what they do, and how they attend to accomplish it and what is your response? "I don't got time to look shit up, read, and learn." It's not as simple as what Obama would make you think. Oh well, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. 11. Why do you think that these are the only choices? What about better screening? Is it so hard to ask people to provide us with some information and then we verify it? Come to find out Tashfeen gave a wrong address and was talking jihad for 2 years before the attack. Oh wait a minute, we are talking about the Federal Government...... 12. I've fought side by side with Muslims. Your Troll-fu is weak. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  13. First of all, your premise is flawed. The proposal isn't about keeping terrorists out of the country, it is about keeping Muslims out of the country. You assume that Muslim=terrorist. You also assume that terrorists are so stupid that they would self-identify as Muslims. If they are dedicated enough to spend 2+ years going through the refugee approval process, don't you think they might be capable of claiming to be Christian? Secondly, by banning Muslim movement into the US, we confirm what ISIS has been saying all along, that the US is at war with Islam. They can legitimately say, "Look, the US hates all Muslims. They have been killing us over here for decades because they want to destroy Islam!" Anti-Muslim legislation is the best ISIS recruiting tool possible. And you know who the most valuable recruits are? Young, disgruntled Muslims living in the US already. They won't need to send Syrian ISIS fighters off to spend 2+ years going throug a rigorous screening process, hoping not to get caught. They will just up their US recruitment and we'll have more of the same kind of attacks like San Bernadino. For someone who claims to have a military mind, you sure don't understand insurgency tactics very well. I should have known better than to ask you that question. Your responses are so .... liberal..... First off, You think that I think that all muslims are terrorists. That is your first mistake. As has been pointed out in the media over and over again we have over 600 on going ISIS investigations in all 50 states. We have done a shitty job screening people coming in. No one (Even Trump) is suggesting a complete ban. Just fix the screening process. As far as why they Jihad when they get here, it's not because they think we don't like them. That is your second mistake. You are following Obama's misguided notion of Islam guided by some romantic notion of his smoke filled "Dreams of his Father" that has been wrong at every turn. First learn about the Sunni Muslim's Pilgrimages to Mecca, Wahhabism, dhimmitude, the core tenants of Sharia Law, and the life and times of Muhammed (concentrating on battle strategy and how ISIS has been applying it), and then you might have the basic required knowledge to talk to me on a meaningful level. Your above post proves your not quite there yet. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 14. I keep hearing this and I just don't get it. Explain to me how keeping terrorist from entering the country makes us less safe. I can't wait to hear this logic..... 15. The betting odds disagree with you... http://www.oddschecker.com/politics/us-politics/us-presidential-election-2016/winner No matter what the odds are, it's really hard to run for president from jail. 16. I'm pretty sure that a Trump nomination would pretty much guarantee another Clinton Presidency. Even with a good Republican nominee she is going to be hard to beat. Against Trump she would attract at least some people who would otherwise vote Republican, and Trump will not draw any crossover voters at all. At least that's my read from way up here in Canada. My track record in predicting election results is not that good. But as I get older it's getting better. No, Trump will beat Hillary. Hillary is trying to be Obama 2.0 and I ask you who is more crazy; the guy standing in a pool of blood from 2 attacks from Muslims saying "this is not a Muslim problem," or the guys saying "lets not let any more muslims in until we figure out what we're doing." Like I said, with the backlash we are seeing against the politically correct, the low information voters, and the people who are tired of normal politicians, Trump is what we are going to get. And make no mistake, I trust Trump as much as I trust Hillary, but Hillary is a part of the establishment. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 17. Hey!!!!! Watch how you talk about our next president!!!! Seriously though, he will be our next Prez. A couple of things to consider: Low education voters: People know his name. Our current politicians: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Trump is different. Political Correctness: He doesn't have it. He is saying out loud what a lot of people think in private. The more he says the more media he gets, and when you are an entertainer, there is no such thing as bad media. And has he even had to dip into his own money yet with all the free press? Don't get me wrong, I hope someone else gets the nominee because in all honesty, I don't trust the guy. He comes off like a snake oil salesman. But with our current politicians sucking so badly the best way to describe him would be a "market correction." Anyone else got a better way to describe the Trump phenomena? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 18. Really? I thought you had posted something about a "Battle of Athens", in which a bunch of WWII vets staged an armed uprising to affect a political change in a small town in Tennessee. It seems to me that resisting political corruption is a very different situation than dealing with an armed terrorist who is trying to kill you on a train. By conflating the two, you seem to be arguing that armed rebellion is an appropriate way for people to express their dislike of political leadership. I have simply pointed out that it is possible to accomplish significant change by non-violent means. No-one has argued against defending oneself against an immanent threat, such as a terrorist attack. It's more than a little disturbing that a member of the US military cannot see the distinction between politics (albeit a corrupt small town political system) and a terrorist attack. It almost seems as if you are advocating armed rebellion as the most appropriate way to eliminate political perspectives you dislike so as to impose your own. FYI, Democrats are not terrorists. Don While you see it as an insurrection I see it as using the 2nd amendment to protect the integrity of the process to bring accountability to the government. They didn't over throw anything. They just insured a fair and open count of the ballots. And as pointed out before, the state and federal governments were not going to help. If you read the details, this has gone on for several election cycles. All appeals for help were ignored. Which brings us back to the original question. How many beating would you take before you had enough? At what point would you take action, or has all since of standing up for something been bread out of you because you are "civilized" now? What would it take for you to protect yourself? Or are you of the mind set to sit back and take it? As for the rest of it, I would never advocate for the overthrow of our government. I've been around the world and I whole heartedly believe in American Exceptionalism. I believe in it because I've seen pretty much all other forms of government in action and they all suck compared to America. While America has it's problems, it's form of government is best equipped to deal with them. However, the Democratic front runner is the one that said her number one enemy is Republicans. You can't name half the country as your enemy and expect zero back lash. I'll work with anyone who will work with me, so maybe if she tones her shit down, we can come together. And be thankful that a lot of members of the military have take an oath to never follow any order that tells us to turn our guns on the civilian population. It's called standing up and doing the right thing and not "going along to get along." "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 19. Not only is that one of the more obnoxious statements I've seen in SC for a while, it's also patently false. The US does not have a monopoly on courage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Thalys_train_attack Kind of sucks that I didn't hear to much about "Danom A." I wish he would have stood up and didn't want to remain anonymous. I stand corrected. At the same time, there are still lots of people who believe it's better to sit their and wait their turn to take a bullet to the head. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  20. Absolutely! If only MLK and Rosa Parks and the rest of those civil rights agitators had realized that the only way to fight back against oppression is with a gun, maybe we wouldn't still have segregation and Jim Crow laws in the US. Silly pacifists never achieve anything. Or not. Don Your conflating two issues. There is a difference between a protest and defending yourself. Back in the day, the NRA fought hard to ensure African Americans were able to exercise their 2A rights also. Democrats didn't like it because it meant they could defend themselves from a lynching. Or are you suggesting that a black man should just let himself be drug behind a truck? This thread is about standing up and defending yourself when needed, and not just sitting back and letting bad shit happen to you. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  21. OK, so the thing that hasn't changed about the Democratic Party is that they take action, like the American and French people who stopped the shooting on that train. Wait, so the people on the train didn't defend themselves? This is getting confusing. The Democratic party always has been and always will be the party of big government who wants to subjugate the people. They were doing it then and they are doing it now. As for the train attack, the only reason a few frenchies got up and acted was because Americans lead the way. Otherwise they probably would have lied there waiting for a bullet to the head like they did in Paris. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  22. Where I'm at right now I don't have internet access like the rest of the world, so don't have hurt feelings if I don't respond right away. You are not my priority. Also, I'm sorry you see a flaw in my OP. It's about sometimes having to take action when evil is in your face, like the Americans who stopped the mass shooting on the train to Paris. YOU are the first line of defense when things like this happen. Or you can cower and wait to take a bullet to the head while waiting for a real man to arrive....usually carrying a gun...YMMV But in UK, Paris, Gemany, etc... you gave away your right to self defense to the government. Hopefully your government doesn't turn on you, cops start abusing you, or whatever.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  23. The moral of the story went way over your head. I can understand though if your from Europe. You guys have been conditioned to "Go along to get along." It's better to submit to corruption and tyrants than to risk getting hurt, right? Besides, it's not your job to fight. You got people for that. Never mind if it's the people that are supposed to be protecting you that are abusing you, you got someone else you can call. Just keep in mind that the Mayor knew the state Governor and no help was coming. And yes, I do have a military background and every other issue that those guys faced when they got home I've had to face also (except for going "V" for Vendetta on the town hall that is) to include guys not fitting in, wives and husbands trying to figure out how to live together again, and suicide. I thought it was a really good movie. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 24. Gun Violence? Guns are inanimate objects. I have yet to see a gang of guns rolling down the street causing mayhem. I've seem a pack of Assholes on the other hand causing problems and using guns to do it though. Usually because their is no one their to stop them. 25. I thought this movie was awesome. While the acting isn't the greatest, it's based on true events. Here is the movie on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrR9Ye-Xj_0 And for those who don't have 1 hour 39 min, historical links to the event: http://constitution.org/mil/tn/batathen.htm http://www.americanheritage.com/content/battle-athens It's amazing the negative press these guys got in the aftermath also. Goes to show how little the Democratic party has changed in 70 years. But this story is a must for 2nd Amendment supporters. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
