1. You are right it is because it has a higher mass but then that acceleration is offset by the drag forces from friction. Which goes back to your coeficient of friction. I will draw a crude free body diagram tomorrow and show the Newton equation. We had to do a bunch of crap like that in the Calculus based Physics cousrse I took. I barely got an A but I had an easier Pyhsics prior to that one which helped me out in a bunch in getting the A.
2. The formula is this: Sum of Forces = Mass * Acceleration Now the only forces acting on the body in freefall is the friction forces from the air flying over you body. The coeeficient of friction can vary based on your clothes, the density of the air, and your body positioning. You mass is you mass and the acceleration is 9.81 meters per second squared. All that really does is get you in the ball park. Also realize i have only had college pyisics required for my Engineering degree. I am not a BASE jumper and I don't have any jumpsother than some AFF skydives. The reason the shot put hits the ground first is because it has a different coeeficient of friction compared to a tennis ball. "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."

DAVE I am sure you have probably seen this video before. Here it is: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3110&string=base%20female edited to add: They are probably meaing the whole video. NRG on NPR

I have no good information but a contractor stop by my work the other day. All I know is that he saw my sky diving pics and said they were planning a development down there. He claimed he lived in the area. This was the first I ever heard of this until just reading this. Jason... If I win the powerball... you know therest.... "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
8. How high up in the air were you guys when you are at the top? Also when he jumps down from the top was he flying/hovering up there or was he standing on the tunnel itself? Finally what speed is the air set at when they are flying. "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
9. I never met her before but we had chatted a few times online. I always thought she was cool as hell. Here was some random hot chick who took her time to chat with me. Heck she was looking for an original 1st edition copy of Groundrush for me one time. Who else would do that for a stranger? "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
10. I agree with the Phot and Animal song. Although I will save Saving Me kicks ass. All time NB favotite song is Smoeday. I will say this! I say them live once and they put on one of the best concerts i have been too! Check them out! "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
11. I am 26 and still a student sky diver. I made my first sky dive at 24. It will be awhile before I get to do BASE. Hopefully I will get to do a BASE Camp soon enough..... "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."

15. I am just curious if that was the house in that Science movie. It is the movie with Val Kilmer and the guy who lives in the closet. Well anyways they put a big popcorn ball in the attic of that house and a plane with a laser pops the corn in it. Is that the same house? Where was it at? lol DBR "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."

BASE game

You guys stole my idea! Well i think we all had this idea.... I definetly like the "adventure" aspect of the game. Make it so the BASE jumper could travel around the world doing all of the famous jumps. Jumps like BD, TF, Maylasia, ect... The option of gear for trackign is a must too. Also make it so thta you can do TARDS, CWADS, and McConkey's as well. You need a tester, Iam all yours. Looks more fun than GTA! DBR "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
17. Is he going to go for the most in one day record again? I say 701 since I would like a 701 cc Yamaha Super Jet Stand Up PWC. Man if I was just rich..... And the Container won't do me much good since I am on my damn AFF jump still... :( Again, if I was rich I could afford more jumps... But I could sell it for beer money or a sky dive or two. "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
18. Cops? Yeah I think BASE Jumpers are good enough to out wit them.... Hey all in all it is showing the sport in a positive outlook! We need more comercials like this. And more magazine articles of that hot Red bull chick I posted about too! :) "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
19. I have been seeing this commercial a lot as well. Try the Discovery or History channel. I would agree it looks a lot like Moab since of the color of the clifts. What I like the most is... main stream media attention! It is geting there folks. One day BASE will be accepted! Just the othe day a friend of mine who knows I am into sky diving and wanting to try BASE gave me an Audi monthly magazine. Low and behold in it was a multipage article on Karina Hollekim doing BASE jumps for their spread. So I google searched her. Is she hot or what? DAVE "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
20. So where can I get a copy of Groundrush? My darn mom didn't get me one for Christmas like I had asked! SHE DIDN'T EVEN GET ME ANY SKY DIVING GIFT CERTIFICATES EITHER! I would like to have one of the 1st editions too. I guess I will just keep looking on half and eBay. Jake, I get one, can I mail it to you for a John Handcock? DR "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
21. I had to reply so I could find this thread again when I get home from work. lol DAVE "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
22. Well if you find some good ones....lets us have the links. As far as Jason's site....I am majorly bummed. I left my spot on the bridge and was spending my money buying aligator beef jerky and "Jokely's" sun glasses from the vendors. I was right next to the fenced off area and would have been the panoramic photo of the bridge. :( Oh well maybe in a year or two.....I'll just get a pic of myself actually jumping from the Bridge! DR PS, I kinda hope I get stuck in a tree on my next sky dive it that is the propper way CPR is preformed "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
23. I don't know how much I would pay......Seems being a skydiving student while you are in college is expensive enough. But I was commenting to a friend the other day that if I ever won the lotto, I would bulid a BASE jumping park. There you could have all 4 objects open or a small fee for jumpers to jump. Say a yearly membership. Of course this is all just an idea and would be very hard to build and maintain due to law suits and the cost anyways of buliding all 4 objects. DR "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
24. I got to say it was my very first experience seeing BASE Jumpers first hand. Bridge Day 2005 makes me want to get the sky dives in and eventually try BASE. Besides, I want my BASE number as well. By then, the numbers will be in the 2000's. I just wish I hadn't left my spot and I got my picture in the panoramic photo. Oh well, next year! Besides, I was out spending my cash helping out the local vendors! As far as the video costs, just look into any extreme sports video. They are all around that cost. Pay up, or do without. I grew up in a family that "tried" to be economical to the point that it cost more being a tight wad then to just pay up. Example putting off vehicle repairs or taking it to a backyard mechanic. Another exampleis buying groceries on sale and freezing them. In theend, the food always got thrown outbecause it was never used in a timely manner. Like I always say, "If you want something nice, you are going ot have ot pay for it, besides, nothing in life is free." DR On the Video "... and I'll jump off that bridge when I get to it...."
25. Jeff, Nikky, Cush, Mike, Susa, Cindy, Ed, Dan and everyone else are very nice and friendly. I am sure I missed a few names but it happens. I have made 3 jumps so far at Sky Dive PA and I am making several more this weekend. I did two tandems and then started the AFF program. My best advice when doing AFF is to go get your training and come back later on. It was raining the day I received training. I feel like I got a better, more personal training. Also there wasn't the uncertainty of when I was going to jump. Also I was more apt to learning since there weren't as many people running in and out of the building as when it is a normal jump day. I came back the next week and did my first AFF level 2. I can't wait until I am through with the program and I get my USPA A license. Another fun factor or tid bit of info is that the P.Porter they use is the identical pink plane from the movie Drop Zone! To everyone at Sky Dive PA, thanks!
