  1. You know, I've trained all season for a comp and had another team beat me. Was that disrespectful? No. It's the rules of the game. You have no 'right' to a record.
  2. Call up a big DZ near-ish to you in France, and ask them if you can do some work over winter. Pas de problem!
  3. I think Nataly lives in SE France. There's heaps of scooters here. Driven by teenage boys, low CC, revved like fuck. Sound like an angry leafblower. See the opening 5mins of the movie Taxi (not the US remake) for an idea.
  4. All those options kinda suck for jumping. Canberra's probably your best option - 2hrs to Picton and 2hrs to Moruya. That said, if you're only coming to Oz for a couple of months, living in a country town like Wagga would be very different. Block 5 in the 8-way pool used to be called Wagga Wagga. All the Charles Sturt campuses you mention are in mid-sized countrry towns. Remember that Australia is the size of the USA, but with 23m people. Western NSW is pretty sparsely populated.
  5. The short version: neither jumper was flying a pattern. What was the agreed landing direction?
  6. Where I grew up, your parents had to be born there for you to be a local.
  7. Maremma? Gorgeous dog with a gorgeous coat. Hope you enjoy brushing ;-)
  8. At the risk of moving this to SC, please define intelligence.
  9. C'mon, it's 2013. Why would that be surprising?
  10. Should've mentioned that the Iyengar I've done has been amazing for my shoulders / back / biceps. Lots of holding arms out for minutes at a time, lots of shoulder and headstands.
  11. Naaah, this is an Old English: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/1zboec11i60lym8/KrwS7iJF0J https://www.dropbox.com/sc/eci7q2ebu9me02e/LqdvhAdHxn
  12. Iyengar yoga. Strength, flexibility, body awareness, and calmness.
  13. My first thought was "pull down that bloody left rear riser!" If you'd done that in the first couple of seconds, you'd have saved yourself a cutaway. Reason I mention it is that I've had multiple brakefires on a Samurai 135 loaded at 1.6 or so, and it looks really similar. Not that I'd recommend getting that much practice in; I'd recommend maintaining the toggle holders on one's risers instead .
  14. On my Nexus 7, I'm seeing JS popups for Candy Crush, being served by Yieldmanager. See attached. Could you go kick your ad provider in the nuts please? More details: Device: Nexus 7, running 4.2.2 Browser: Firefox Aurora pre-beta v24.0a2 Region: France Action: opening dropzone.com while logged in.
  15. Out of curiosity, anyone know why the rule isn't phrased as 'must be fully open by'? Pitching a Sabre1 with a big PC at 2500ft will have you open (and sore?) well before 2000ft, but pitching a Crossfire2 with a worn PC will have you around 1500ft before you're ready to collapse the slider. Seems like the rule as written will add more safety margin* for those jumpers on faster-opening canopies. * if you've been jumping over 20 years, feel free to change that to "goddamn pencil dick bureaucrats taking away my right to pitch down and dirty"
  16. You would be completely and utterly nuts to not get coaching. Do as much tunnel as you can afford. If you have the cash+time, you might find that an hour over 2/3 days works out significantly cheaper per flying minute.
  17. In my head, a variation is a specific way of tackling a single point from the divepool. Continuity is the set of variations you will consider when engineering your dives. And don't worry about whether I might get offended if you choose different nomenclature. After all, there are only two hard problems in computer science: naming, cache invalidation, and off-by-one errors .
  18. Variations. One of the variations should be tagged as the standard 'straight-up' version.
  19. What hand are you taking the grip with? Simple

  21. Is she scares of fucking up? Is she scared of the reports? Is she scared of you? Any of those could be an issue. On another note, does she understand the report output format? I'm guessing not, or she wouldn't have so many obvious errors. Maybe you could have your report output in two formats: a sensible format which this lady can use to cross-check her work, and separately the format your investors require. That way, once she's happy with the data, it's just a matter of a new visualisation of already-correct data.
  22. I had about 500 jumps before the door fear subsided. It's still there whenever I'm uncurrent.
  23. Yup. As well, have Tail take the left-hand grip and hold onto the plane with their right hand. Means that Tail is more likely to leave with OC and not block IC by waiting until their right-hand grip takes them off the plane. I hope that makes sense outside my head
