It shows the altitude you are currently on, so you know when to separate, deploy and set up your landing pattern. Just for comparison the smart phone on which I'm writing this post cost 200 €!!! I fully understand that there are people who want to have the newest and coolest before anybody else and that's fine. Let them test it for you. Meanwhile buy the cheapest altimeter you find and a tablet. You will appreciate the second one during weather holds. 500 bucks for an altimeter phhhh! What's wrong with you guys? Both products haven't been released and you are staking up to prepay for something no one has seen. And we are not talking about 100 bucks. Hmm, I was just about to say, all those reserve deployments would be considered out of sequence.... unless you somehow artificially exclude them because of a spring loaded PC, maybe because it "it is out of sequence but isn't out of sequence for that long so I won't count it because I want to say that pull-outs are bad, without saying that all our reserves are bad too". You summed up pretty well. Spring loaded or not, doesn't make any difference. When you are belly to earth, pull out has less chance of hesitating because it's not in the burble, so that statement " it's out of sequence because it's not spring loaded" is pretty inaccurate. The whole discussion is how to prevent PCIT. In my opinion, considering that specific malfunction, pull out is way better than throw out. Can you end up with a total if you can't find the pud? Absolutely! But anyone in his right mind will choose a total mal vs PCIT. Bill mentioned many people dying because they used pull outs in the 70's. But why did they die? Because in the 70's people were pulling at 2500' ,didn't have AAD's and didn't make as many jumps as the weekend warriors now.So when they end up at 2500' still in freefall and search for the pud for 10 seconds, well it's their last jump ever, right? In 2017 majority of jumper have AAD's and don't pull lower than 3000'. If you have as many jumpers using pull outs now as there were back then, I bet you, you won't have as many fatalities! One more time....the discussion is not which deployment system is better. It's how to prevent PCIT. All of what you've said is true! However, you asked how the PCIT can be solved. On top of that floating handle is way better than PCIT. This is the most common misrouting mistake on soft links. While it should not be like this, the chance of the link failing because of it is practically zero. I've seen reserve canopies open at terminal with a mistake like this.... Once again, I'm not advocating bad rigging. Just sharing my thoughts! Well, if the next size up (V319) lists Speed 120 as a tight fit, it's logical that no Speed reserve should fir in the smaller container since 120 is the smallest Paratec makes. I do have speed 2000 120 in a V306, it's a perfect fit... One thing worth noting is that UPT provides info for speed instead of speed 2000, the second one is true low-bulk reserve and first one is standard fabric.... To my knowledge, there's only one Speed reserve in size 180. Designed in the late '80s and certified under the German DFV?! No span wise reinforcement. All other sizes are Speed 2000. FAA and EASA TSO certified. I'm pretty sure Stefan will clear this up at some point. Now,... Paratec will make you any size Speed 2000 from the regular 0-3 cfm fabric upon request. They have about 10 colors available. The low bulk however, comes only in white. What is the chance that Paratec will send reserves with the normal fabric to UPT for sizing?! I'd say zero. The same reserves went to Rigging Innovations (and I believe VSE) for sizing as well, and if you look at the Curv sizing chart, you will see that a Speed 120 goes in the same rig as Optimum 99. Bottom line, you(or your rigger) shouldn't trust Vector sizing chart in regards to Speed reserves! Stefan? Those Compass Rules are doing a good job at what they were initially designed to do.Which is reducing the chance of killing yourself under an open canopy, until you gain some experience. What I still don't get is how you are allowed to make your first skydive ever under a Sabre1 170 with WL of 1.0, but the following week and 20 jumps later you are not allowed to jump a Silhouette 210 with WL of .81 And at the end of the day, it's an activity for adults and if you want to play games and break the rules, you probably will go under the radar, unless you start telling everyone how awesome you are and how much shit you don't give....then you gonna get what's coming! Oh, and oddly enough there's no rule on how big your reserve should be. Recently I refused packing a PDR143 for a guy who said that he upsized his main to 190, because we was not current. He was told by the person who sold him the gear that PDR 143 will fly and land the same way his Sabre 2 190 will.... Let me tell you a secret that will blow your mind...but don't tell anyone ok?! Infinity is the only rig on the market that was used in a super sonic freefall jump. Furthermore, ask any speed skydiving coach about containers and my bet is, 10 out of 10 will say "stay away from magnets". So maybe, if stiffeners are good for speeds above 500km/h, maybe they will be good for the speeds of a regular FF jump? Dunno! I'll take Infinity above any other rig on the market....and if I have to jump a Vortex 2, I'll quit skydiving ! I have a customer with exactly the same problem. Wings suggested to replace the reserve pin cover flap. That's a major repair and if you choose to go this way, make sure you pick an experienced master rigger, or send it back to Wings.
