The Cypres cutter has a life time of 15 years. It must receive a check every 4 years in order to stay airworthy. The 15 years life time info comes from a factory tour I did in 2011. I can't find any written info about that, so you can consider that as a"rumor"! I am going by memory but I believe the Collins Lanyard is not available to license separatelt from the Skyhook. Yes, trap is a terrible name for anything involving a canopy. Nobody will pack it until some instructions are available. I don't think it will take long before that patent expire. I could be wrong of course. What I don't get is why the other manufacturers are not building their rigs with spit housings?! That is almost correct but not really. It is false! The flap fits between the handle and canopy material. The handle is attached on each of the handle ends. There is a flap size slot for the flap to pass through. I have one at home but I'm a day away from being able to take a picture. If none are posted before then, I'll take one and post it. If my info comes from the manufacturer, could it really be "false" ? And is it possible that they have changed the design at some point?! So we both could be "wrong" or "right" at the same time! Hi Jerry, From the manual: Smart 99, 110, 120, 135 are listed as 220lbs max. exit weight Smart 150, 160, 175, 190, 220 are listed as 265 max exit weight Smart 250 is listed as 300 lbs max. exit weight. Based on those numbers, the dummy weigh should've been no less than 264 lbs. on the small sizes and 318 lbs on the sizes till 220 sq ft. Am I correct, or did I miss something? Hi Jerry, I posted the numbers the way they were written on the data label, so people can see that even something so simple like writing data can be left for interpretation from the manufactures. Here is what's written on the Techno reserves. The only missing size is 98, but I have never seen that size reserve in my life. Decelerator reserve from 2003 ( I think) it's TSO C23d tested , but doesn't have any average force written on the label. Maybe there are more TSO C23d items without that info printed. That's correct Bill! But as far as I know, all of the canopies listed in that document were measured the same way in order to get the most accurate info on how big/small certain canopies are in regard to packing volume and surface area. Since we are talking about reserve canopies here, I'd say the chart is quite accurate. My point was, everybody is saying that certain canopy is smaller than what's written on the label because is measured differently than the PD canopies! Well, PD it's not a standard The canopy is as big as the company that made it say it is! The only way to find out if you like it is.....jump it! Speed 2000 square footage is measured differently from PD/Icarus and is misleading. That 190 is substantially smaller than a 190 Opt or Nano. Anecdotal evidence suggests it may be smaller than 176 as well. Similar to how a Pilot 190 is larger than a Safire/Sabre2 190 because the square footage is measured differently. Can we reverse that and say that the canopy size info from PD and Icarus is misleading, giving the customers the wrong idea about their canopy size?! Because the PDR 176 is actually 189 sq.ft! A bartack doesn't add anything to the strength. It just keeps the line fingertraped when there's no load. I don't know anyone who can do 30+ stitchless fingertraps faster than a person hitting the pedal on a bartacker...... I've done this fingertap magic once on a field repair... on my canopy... on a lower st. line. Worked out fine. I don't have experience with this on the cascades.
