  1. this guy is commissioning you to take pictures so he can make money from them...standard library practice is 50/50 split of all sales...the copyright is yours dont give it away...a half page shot in a big magazine can make you a lot of money. i would charge him a daily rate of say your normal day job rate plus about 35% then put your photos in his library and take the 50% share of sales. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  2. I do equal numbers of jumps on both types of system...prefer pins for the sub 250 range just because i dont like too much hang time on low jumps...something that i always "feel" i get with a velcro rig. i was a victim of my own laziness/stupidity with a velcro rig a few years ago when i did a running exit from a 360 foot E and my velcro burst as i was at the point of no return..seven months later i was back jumping...the velcro burst due to its age and my vigorous sprint...so now i get it changed every 50 jumps. Gear checks on velcro are a good idea too but not infalable...on that jump i asked someone for a check...he said i was good but on examination of his video some time later the velcro was already seperating and he didnt spot this even though it was right in front of him. if you think your velcro is good for a few more jumps then it probably should have been changed already. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com

dont believe the hype...the video you see makes it look all nice and fluffy...it aint...keep skydiving for a bit and get at least 450-500 jumps under your belt before you even entertain it. Read and digest the world BASE fatality list, get more current (133 jumps in 2 years isnt)Read all the knowledge threads...speak to experienced jumpers in the UK..do some groundcrew...save your money and go and do a course in the states... then write a will. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com

  8. there is a guy operating at your home DZ but you should speak to other jumpers and gain a more rounded idea on what course suits you before you go opening your wallet. go to www.basejumper.org and see what answers you get on the forum there. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  9. speak to a lot of other UK jumpers...have you any prior experience...having a rig doesnt mean squat...it could have been bought on e bay...be careful who you jump with...some people have little or no ethical values in the UK so to avoid jump buddy limitations and a wide and varied circle of BASE friends do your research... http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  10. try train surfing...its about as big a buzz as you are ever gonna get...BASE was only dangerous a few years ago when people didnt know what they were doing... http://www.extreme-on-demand.com

    Base numbers...

i chuckle to myself as a relative newcomer to this...i was at the elsinore DZ with my dad in 1977 as a 9 year old kid watching everyone jumping the DC3s and the Howards...even stayed at the other end of the lake at one of the campsites there....Got a ride to altitude in the DC3 strapped into the 2nd seat with some static line and thought that was as good as it got...wish i had known who was there and what they would mean in the future...wouldnt have been so keen to go to Disneyland or swim in the lake....talk about suliminal messeging..i think theres recognition needed for both sides of the pond in all this....The US for the gear, the big walls, the technique and sheer number of buildings you all jumped and the UK and europe for the low altitude angle, good beer and and the extension of what our US bros had started...(oh and maybe the fit women...have you been on the piss in stavanger?) heres to the next 27 years.. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com

  25. hey Tom,seppo...there's been a lot worse in here than me pulling her up about that...as it happens i was highlighting a shortfall in her grammar as a sign of her immaturity...harmless fun...if you look elsewhere in the thread someone else does exactly the same...it is ironic....and sarcastic...something we English live and thrive on...hardly grounds for a public rebuke...anyway...i wish her luck...a lot of it...Karma will take care of Jimmy if she dies...but as he says hes prepared to live with that...I must be such a boring, staid run of the mill human beiing because i couldnt live with it...not one iota. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
