    BURNING SITES

my mommy used to give me stickers when i was a little baby...i stuck them everywhere and then got an ass whupping for it... read into that what you will how about take only altitude leave only wake turbulence... http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  3. no not at all...its aimed at the more responsible newbie who wants to stay alive when they get back here...so the idea is to let people know where to get in touch (most of them dont know) who to get in touch with and how to go about keeping sites open and staying alive once they have finished falling off the perrine...we have 150+ BASErs here and the number is gonna be nearer 200 by december...that needs addressing so that sites stay open and people dont die... mind you if i did nothing and let privacy and confidentiality prevail that would be better i guess... you tell me.

  6. try doing another 481 jumps on a big 7 cell (220 square feet or bigger)...in those 481 jumps do some balloon jumps.CRW and accuracy...whilst doing all this do a top rope and abseil course as well as a first aid course (look on www.basejumper.org for details on first aid) read the BASE fatality list....read it again...and again... make a will...talk to your freinds/family talk to other UK jumpers specifically ones near you...book a course...buy your rig then talk to other UK jumpers when you are done on the course...(www.basejumper.org) that should do for starters
  7. this post is a reminder more than anything...if the links cause a problem then i will remove the post...
  8. To all the non UK manufacturers/trainers out there...if you are taking anyone from the UK on a course can you please let one of the moderators at www.basejumper.org know and help us manage the cat herding a little better...just so we dont have people blazing a trail and getting killed over here for the sake of a few emails.... To all potential students from the UK...please post on www.basejumper.org to let us know your experience level, when you are doing the course and MOST importantly where you are in the UK...that way you wont compromise any sites and you may live a lot longer if you can get some freindly LOCAL advice. Can Tom or Sangiro make this sticky...please.
  9. it will always be that way..people historically do not contact 'the community'..its probably down to the insular nature of the sport especially in the uk...we have no program in place for pre schooling newbies and for looking after them once trained... maybe a stickie with the UK base board url for the newbies and a polite request for all the trainers to let someone in the UK know whos doing what...then again confidentiality may be an issue.. who knows
  10. hope you brought some good weather matey...its been shit here for a week....lower winds forecast for tomorrow in London...sabre210 should be on your case soon...i may pop down for a beer tomorrow...pm me a fone number
  11. never let the truth get in the way of a good story..if you dont have editorial control dont talk to them....
  12. you are welcome up in Oxford when Sabre 210 has finished showing you the sites...we have plenty up here to play on

  14. read getting into BASE...then read i again...then go away and then read it again...then when ouve done 1 or 250 more skydives come back here and ask again. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  15. you have a zillion gallon fridge not far from you if the ones in the chalets arent working...take a camel bak or similar hydration bladder... even in July i would take full wet and semi cold weather gear...factor 15 sunscreen, lip balm, compedes for your feet if youre not a hiker and khazi roll..a medium size bum bag is a must and do some practice jumps at the dz with it and all the gear you might put in it... a camera and a sense of humour too
  16. talk to the UK BASErs about your trip and let us know when you get back..it would be nice to know whos gonna be jumping and where in the UK you live. good luck http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  17. so long as you are high enough...looks very similar to a pair of morpheus ones ive had for some time...glad to see they are being made elsewhere...ive never used mine in anger but im glad i have them... http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  18. hey Martin...whats the budget?how much editorial control will we get,why use a hotmail account for what sounds like a big payer for you?You a freelance journo? Why does it need to be a UK B?Why dont you use your journalistic clout to get us acess to somewhere nice and hi and we can do what Felix did and fake it? just a few questions for you...
  19. in what way? http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
  20. he has been here and done his thing from the big scottish road bridge and not long after cameras were fitted and laws passed to enable arrest for jumping from ANY of the big bridges here...he does well for his sponsors but does the sport no favours with the whole bandit style of his broadcasts he makes every man jack look like we areout to bust the rules and give the man a poke in the eye ...the trouble is that's how Red Bull want to be seen and legal permitted jumps wouldnt be good brand positioning...they are an extreme sports company so they want and get extreme. he is ostracised by his fellow countrymen for being an arse...i know ive spoken to former team mates of his...even fellow red bull sponsored athletes of his think he is a prick...i for one have never met him so as a person i cant judge him but as a BASE jumper i think the guy needs to read sabre 210s post and try and sort his act out... my two pence http://www.extreme-on-demand.com

    Polar Safari

if you have enough takers they may be able to sort a chopper for a portion of the trip...shane will probably have more idea on costs than anyone...we looked at a chopper for our trip there and in no way could four guys afford it...would be a lot easier than what they are suggesting with the balloon...there are very few places to pack at the top of the cliffs that i went up and when you get up there you wont want to be spending *insert packjob time here* at the top because you will start to freeze...literally. http://www.extreme-on-demand.com

    Baffin Island

we spent 17 days on the ice...could have done with more...if you go to the obvious place that red bull went to you will be about 20 hours from medical help...if the weather is bad it could be like you said ...and you will more than likely croak up there if you do anything too drastic...get hung up and youre dead...dont anticipate doing lots of jumps...you will be very lucky with one a day...climbers in your team are a must...some of the exit points there need ropes and some take anything up to 16 hrs of mixed route mountaineering to get to..let me know if you have any questions and ill give you all the info i can... http://www.extreme-on-demand.com
