  1. well, climbing over the fence in the first place could conceivably put bystanders' lives in danger (especially when security guards start groping and throwing off your exit) so it might not even just be attempted. However, if he and his lawyer admit that on a national broadcast, how hard of a time do you think they will have when trying to convince the court of the contrary later on? -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." 2. How about Yosemite? That would be a great burden lifted off their shoulders I'm sure or maybe the NRG?

    ADD/ADHD

haha, thats probably the best way i've heard it explained! excellent job :) as long as you have the ability to get yourself excited about a project and start pulling it together you'll be ok. Its all about inertia... if you are working, you'll keep working... if your being a lazy POS (like I am now) you'll continue to do so unless acted upon by an outside force. I've actually considered hiring a secretary just to breathe down my neck and make me work (and maybe breathe down my neck in other ways... err sorry wrong topic) but then i'd probably get irritated and fire her within the first week for being a nazi. -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." 5. i live next door to starbucks and about 3-4 nights per week i'll go over there and get 14 (yes, fourteen) shots of espresso. Black coffee tastes like water to me now, espresso is quite tasty, and i can drink it all and still go to sleep. Or sometimes 2 shots will make me jittery... strange how that works. -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." Web Design Cleveland Skydiving

    ADD/ADHD

Don't be too excited. When you get meds, its not just going to solve the problem, it'll just give you one more mental state in which to struggle with it. All ritalin/adderall (for me) does is increase focus. The problem is that it doesn't affect what you want to focus on. I can sit here all day and get absolutely nothing done at all without adderall, or i can take adderall and write a 15-page theory on gravity and design a new canopy in 3ds max but still not get my work done. Either way, the bills dont get paid and I'll have clients calling me tomorrow morning breathing fire down my neck. I started reading this thread thinking "okay theres no way i'm wasting all the time required to read 4 pages of this..." and here I am replying to it.... The good thing about adderall is that if i do actually start working and get focused, there is no stopping what I can do. I've tried using incentives to motivate myself to get work done. i.e. i'll watch a BASE video and be like "ok brett, this is the kind of fun you can have if you get off your lazy bitch ass and get this website done by tomorrow and get paid! You will have the money to go to norway this year!".... but then i just end up watching more videos and pacing around my house thinking about base jumping and getting nothing done. I think marz is onto something with that whole 'hunter' in a 'farmer/gatherer' society thing. I do incredibly well as long as I'm genuinely interested in what I'm doing, and if what I'm doing helps me progress to an extremely challenging, hard-to-reach goal. I guess that's the main thing that attracts me to skydiving/BASE. There are many paths to take in both, they are very challenging to master, the risks are high, the margins are small, and when you finally accomplish a goal you've been working toward for months or even years, the feeling of accomplishment is incredible. And then there's always something even higher to shoot for. It's like spending days or weeks tracking down a mammoth and finally slaying it, rather than just sitting around planting seeds and watching corn grow and following a routine every day. OK enough of my rant... now i'm off to work... but first myspace.... and then maybe i'll go get some food.... -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." 7. I see, so maybe laminar flow has nothing to do with it and i'm really talking about the boundary layer separation. You mentioned that an increase in surface roughness delays boundary layer separation. Is this due to the fact that a rough surface creates more turbulence in the boundary layer, hence having a similar effect as the deflectors? Or is it something else?
  8. Just a question for robi or anyone else: Deflectors are intended to create a turbulent flow that will stick to the wing longer, resulting in the separation point being closer to the tail. This results in more lift. However, in doing so, it converts the laminar (smooth) flow to a turbulent one, which produces less lift. But it sticks to the wing longer, which is good. By adding deflectors, you are sacrificing that efficient, laminar flow for a "more sticky", but less efficient, turbulent flow. How do you know when that trade-off becomes worth sacrificing the laminar flow? Or is the flow always going to be turbulent due to the fact that wingsuits typically aren't very smooth surfaces?
  9. Sweet, my skydiving birthday is april 3rd too! We should have a cake
  10. I dont really remember seeing any useful info in that post. maybe i just didnt see it through the thick sarcasm and the whining about being banned for whatever reason...
  11. hey vid, stop bragging about your mcconkey, because: http://www.clearviewstudios.net/cartoons/Care-Bear.jpg Haha just kidding! Nice job to ya both :) Too bad I couldnt be there, but hey, it wouldnt have been RUSSIAN BASE then would it?
  12. From the List: Another reason to not have a bridle longer than 9'?
  13. I dont know shit, so dont listen to me In the left pic, it appears that the brake setting is in front of the ring. Something doesnt seem right about this, because it looks like it could potentially just rip the pin right out of its keeper with enough force. In the pic on the right, it looks like the brake setting is behind the keeper ring, allowing the ring to keep the pin in place. Anybody else see this as a possibility?
  14. what about the video!?
  15. Just found that it's on the "Two Sides" live album, on the "Right Side" CD. Still cant find it online anywhere. Anybody got it?
  16. Hey, I'm looking for the live version of the song 'Candy Raindrops' performed by the buzz poets. Not one one on their 'Angel Eyes' CD, but some other live one that I used to have but cant find it now that I'm looking for it :/ If anyone has it or knows where I could find it online I'd really appreciate it
  17. This should have been taught in your first jump course, but it takes 8-10 seconds to get to terminal. You shouldn't need any airspeed at all to actually get belly-to-earth though. Regardless, you should have enough airspeed to do this by simply arching after about 4 seconds. (i think?)

    QUESTION

You can always tell the people who are addicted to internet porn: their shift key is always sticky. -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." Web Design Cleveland Skydiving
  19. Ask them if they'll bring you a TV with a PS2 hooked up with GTA: Vice City. Then you can just ignore the doctors and base jump all you want I'm really sorry to hear about your accident. That rope jumping documentary that you made was uttery breathtaking. You guys really know how to have fun! Deal with the nazi shit (easier said than done im sure) so you can heal and fly again, bro! -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." 20. I can imagine this... Two jumpers with magnetically suspended canopies get close to each other and suddenly everything goes haywire, the canopies stick together, the jumpers stick together and separate from the canopies, and suddenly you have an accidental tandem with no drogue . Or (more likely due to the polarities), the jumpers accidentally switch canopies. -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." Web Design Cleveland Skydiving
  21. That's right, and it's a lot of fun, too! It uses VR goggles, but the jumper's view also displays on the computer's monitor so spectators can watch. You can choose from the older canopies like cruislites etc (no velocity 98's ) and can choose from various wind and weather conditions as well as landing areas. You can land in the jungle in a rainstorm, on an aircraft carrier with 30mph winds in sunshine, on top of a building at night, etc. The jumper hangs in a real harness, and you can give them malfunctions to cutaway from, or ones that they can clear with 2 pumps of the brakes. Ripcord/cutaway cables go to a box in the back of the rig so the computer knows when you cutaway etc. Its alot of fun, its a shame that people rarely use the simulator. Last weekend at safety day a few of us had an accuracy competition which eventually turned into a low cutaway/low pull contest Oh yea, it also tells you stats about your landing, i.e. distance from target, vertical descent rate, horizontal speed, etc. The person sitting at the computer has the power to do lots of things unexpectedly while the sim is running. For example, cut away for somebody when they are at 100ft about to nail the target dead-center It's fun to give somebody a baglock malfunction and a round reserve during an accuracy contest The only main drawbacks are that you can't use riser input (no sensors) and the choice of canopies is from the 80's. -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." 22. Sorry, I was thinking of a different incident as Tom pointed out. I saw the video of that and it did not look good -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." Web Design Cleveland Skydiving

  24. That wasn't actually during bridge day itself, but at an 'extra-curricular' activity around the same time. edit: not to mention from a different object. From what I hear, it wasn't very fun for any of the parties involved. -Ghetto "The reason death cannot frighten me, is because life has cured me of fear." Web Design Cleveland Skydiving
