Thanks for the advise all - Thanks for the advice all – I have grown a bit since buying this rig second hand. I will be having the old rip cord back on which had plenty of slack. Given this, other then being a bit uncomfortable is there any dangerous aspect of the short laterals. I would love to run out and buy a container built for me however that is going to have to wait a few months. Thanks again

Thanks for the info and advice – the more I look at this the more uncomfortable I am with it. I have sent the pictures off to Sunpath and will see my rigger this week. Is it possible to swap out this handle with my old handle without repacking the reserve? I am looking to get some skydives in on Wednesday after noon and am hoping this can be done quickly by my rigger. Thanks again np

I have had a low profile reserve handle installed on my Javelin this weekend, with a repack, and I have a suspicion that the cable on the new handle/pin is too short. I ordered the handle from Sun Path and provided them with size of my container – so speculation is that it is sized to fit. Perhaps I have gotten a tab bit big for the rig? Here are three pictures 1. Though there is no noticeable crack, my cypress unit has a small amount of black “bleeding” on the display. Once discovered it seamed to be working fine, my rigger could find nothing wrong with it, and it has since been sent out for the eight year check up and came back with an A+ bill of health. One note to make - the black “bleeding” has been the exact same shape and has not increased in size etc. since its discovery. For what it’s worth. neilp

Said batteries are 4 months old and have less the 60 jumps on them. Yeah batteries are cheap but might as well save a buck or two given the opportunity.

I have a cypress that is going to expire soon, as well as a used replacement that I will be having put in my rig this week. The expiring cypress has newish batteries in it and my new (used) has old batteries. Will there be a problem if I ask my rigger to take batteries out of the old cypress and put them into the new? thanks neilp

How does one measure out the initial break setting on a new canopy with no factory made marking? Can you just pull the canopy taught and then pull out a little excess for the break line? Once you have figured out where to set the break how do you insure that both sides are the same length – measure down from the cascades and make a mark? I understand that once the initial breaks are set and the canopy jumped there might be some adjustments to be made, I am just curious how riggers determine the initial setting. Thanks neilp

I’m hooking up my new canopy, which I’ve done before under the supervision of a rigger; however I have never installed toggles before. Looking at PD’s main owners manual I see that they suggest an overhand knot, thread it though the grommet, and then thread the toggle through the steering line loop. What do you do with the excess steering line, leave it hanging as depicted in the manual? My last canopy had no access line hanging out. Thanks np

I’ve got 200+ jumps on a Sabre1 170. Ehh I got slammed a few weeks ago at skyfest, I think I must have been rushing my pack job. For the most part I can get it to open soft and on heading. I think the flair leave a little to be desired at least as compared to the sabre 2’s I’ve jumped. I would trade it in for a sabre 2 170 any day, but it gets me down safely, It gets me down where I want it to go, and I don’t have the fundage for a new canopy at this time so all is good. Other then the rare slammer (like 2-3 in the 200) I find it to be a VERY consistent canopy. neilp

Well Though I’m no baby boomer, I grew up listening to my fathers records and I’ve also seen Dylan a few times in my young life. But um yeah I guess I’d pay $50 to see his show; however I wouldn’t expect a great concert. I think the best Dylan shown I’ve seen was in Austin, 1992, I was 15 or 16 it was the whole packaged spectacle and also my first Dylan show. The few I’ve seen since were lame/mediocre at best. But yeah if Dylan was coming through Texas I would be there for 50 bucks, why not. neilp
