  1. I've always thought that the benefit to prayer is completely internal; if you believe god is listening, whatever you pray for is within your own grasp. I can believe that the health of the person praying would improve. Now that would be an interesting study. 3 post-surgery groups: one that prays for their own health, one that prays for something else (say, world peace), and one that doesn't pray at all. I kind of hope the second group's prayers come true, even if it is at the expense of the first group. 6. Three guys are riding horses on a dude ranch in Texas -- the Texan dude rancher, a guy from Chicago, and a guy from Wisconsin. The Texan, showing off, pulls a bottle of whiskey from his bag, takes a swig, throws the bottle in the air, pulls his gun and shoots it to smithereens. "Why would you waste perfectly good whiskey?" the other 2 ask. "In Texas, glass is cheap, and we have plenty of whiskey!" replies the Texan. Not to be outdone, the guy from Illinois pulls out a bottle of champagne, takes a swig, throws the bottle in the air, and shoots it to tiny bits. "Why would you waste perfectly good champagne?" ask the Texan and Wisconsinite. "Well, in Chicago, glass is cheap, and we have plenty of champagne!" he tells them. They ride for a while, and the Wisconsinite is deep in thought. Finally he pulls a bottle of microbrew from his saddlebag, chugs the whole thing, puts the bottle back in his bag, then shoots the guy from Illinois dead. The Texan is in shock. "What... why... why did you do that?!" demands the Texan. "Well, in Wisconsin, the beer is good, we recycle, and we have plenty of people from Illinois." Pretty lame, I know. 12. I have owned 3 Stilettos over the last 2400 skydives and don’t believe rolling the nose has anything to do with the rate at which a Stiletto or Saber for that matter inflates. The moment the canopy leaves the D-Bag the pack job is shot, the body position at deployment time and slider regulate the rate of inflation. Of course that is just what I subscribe to, I could be wrong... All I know is, when I don't roll the nose in, I get slammers. I never rolled the nose on my sabre2. So at least for this particular canopy, I've developed a technique that works. I've jumped other stilettos that don't need the nose roll to open ok. It seems to me that the second it takes to unroll the nose before the cells can inflate makes a difference. I knew it was only a matter of time until someone said Lolie. Kind of makes me proud to be dating her. Kind of makes me nervous, too. 20. I have to ask, what did you do? Was riding my bike with no hands and the front wheel went into some sand. I fell sideways, and the curb was right there. So when I put my hand out to break my fall, I had less room than I thought I did. My arm bent the wrong way, and jammed straight up into my shoulder. The weakest point was my elbow, which basically exploded. I have a distinct memory of my arm bending full range the wrong way. The doctor said the surgery was like picking pieces of eggshell out of me. They were really worried I'd broken my growth plate and would have one arm shorter than the other. I didn't though... I guess I'm just lucky. I ended up with two surgeries, three pins (red white and blue for the 4th... cute, huh?), and six weeks in a cast. The worst part was how they got the pins out -- pliers. That was the closest I've ever come to fainting. To this day, the smell of isopropyl alcohol reminds me of that.
