  1. Hi Outlaw, It's kinda like skydiving,"Hours and hours of boredom but without the few brief moment of sheer terror!!" Unless someone tries to blow the place up or something?!! It's not free, you're suppose to get paid $$$ for your time!! (Good Part!) As someone else said, bring along some jello shots and snacks. It's also a good time to catch up on reading all the back issues of your skydiving pubs. Wear your best "Sport Death" T-shirt and hook a pull-up cord to your belt loop to set yourself off from the whuffo's!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  2. Hi V, Tip, what tip? It's the DZ, not a resturant!! I never got no tips when I was Instructing or Jumpmastering!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  3. Hi Windy, Hungarian on my mother's side and Hungarian/Yugoslavian on my Dad's side. Both sides turnof the last century immigrants from the "Old Country!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  4. Hi Breeze, I prefer the last person down rule myself. Me and my Stilleto 190 usually out float all the postage stamps on the load and after I watch all of them crash, I have a good fix on wind direction and turbulance and I adjust my landing accordingly. By that time, enough time has elapsed that I am the "First Person Down!!!" My landings are nice and conservative. If you don't believe me, then just ask Kate!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi Fly, Just let your own enthusiasm do the job. When confronted by a whuffo about your jumping, with all your cool and debonaire just asy,"Why yes, I skydive!!" You don't have to "talk" anybody into jumping. Your lifestyle will do it all!!!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Spec, I'm just me, but I fly with my buddy "Sam Skull," His Majesty the Reaper's Royal Scribe!!! You can see us when I am under canopy and fly my "Joplly Roger" flag. Beware the Reaper! Is he friend or foe? Someone to be revered or feared? An adversary or an interloper? You're a skydiver and you can care less, go up to his door, ring the bell and run away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He hates that!!!!!!!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Linny, What do you mean "Hairy???????????????" I thought from a couple of previous threads that every body is into shaving "IT" as smooth as a baby's bottom????? Are we going the "Dirt Road" route here????? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  8. Hi flight, GW without a doubt!! We are in it for the long haul! Kinda reminds me of Viet nam when a lot of people were against it!! I lost contact with a whole generation of my family behind the "Iron Curtain" because of the Commies and now we have the Islamic pieces of shit killing our families!!! My bayonet is on the front of my rifle and I am taking no prisoners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  9. Hi pilot, "Who in the HELL do they think we are???!!!!! Do they not know that we will never cease to persevere againt them until they and the whole world will be taught a lesson that they will surely will never forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! History WILL repeat itself and---------- we won the last time and we will win again!!!!!!!! Remember, AMERICAN ends in I CAN not in IRAN!!!!!!!!! YOU are either on our team or theirs!!! Wich is it people????????????? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  10. Hi Chuck, 10-4!! BTDD case closed! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  11. Hi Chelle, Fresh Water eel eh!!! I catch them all the time here down the road from my house in the South River! They are fun to catch! Cut them up and use them for catfish bait!! Also catch big Blackfish (bowfins) with them too. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  12. Hi Sky, Yeah, ya' gotta be fast!! Sometimes they see it comming and "DUCK!!" Then someone else gets it and the fracas insues!! 'Was walking back to the packing area at Scare-Us-Valley by the "New Dimensions" trailer and was wondering what's going on?? Jan and somebody else were trying to clean the pie off Gloria's brand new silver-black-and red Vector!! It was Dan's 1000th or something and he saw the pie comming and ducked!! The rig got it!!!!! OOOOOOHHH the pain, the terrible, terrible pain!! I mean like the rig was "Brand New!" Beware kiddies!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  13. Hi Fish, 'Been around a while, there is NO Standard! If there is one it is "Jungle Rules!" Some people think it is "Cool" to get pied. Others don't. If you are the pie-er than beware of the consequences! You pie somebody and get pie on their rig (I've seen it happen) can cause bloodshed!!! If there are any un-official rules to pie-ing I'd say that anyone can get pied for anything!! Numbers or events are just excuses. The pie-er should at least be "senior" to the pie-ee, as in pie-ee get's it for 1000 jumps, pie-er should at least have 1001 jumps! If the pie-ee is a jumper than the pie-er should NOT be a Whuffo, that's tacky! Although whuffo's can be used to run "interfearance or distraction!" Beware of the type of "ammo" you use! Back at Ghoulidge a few years ago, someone got pied for something then all went up on another skydive. During the dive, the pie-ee eye's became extremely irritated and watery to the point of danger on the dive! The event was atributed to the nitrous propellent in the whipped cream of the pie!!! Being in the middle of a dive and all of a sudden,"I CAN'T SEE!!!!" can get scary! I always thought that if you really want to get it right, you have to be wearing a "Keystone Cops" costume and use a real "Lemon Mirange" Pie!!! Anything else is tacky!!!! 14. Hi Bert, Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyrie" without a doubt!!!, right out of Apocalypse Now. The Hueys making the attack run on the Cong beach head, add the sound of the choppers!!!! Oh yes, and,"Charlie don't Surf!!!" (He doesn't Skydive either!!) It's always fun during a dirt dive when someone starts humming "The Valkyrie" and everone else chimes in!! 15. Hi Weege, Why else does smoking suck?? Well, it will kill you, S-L-O-W-L-Y!! Like in the big CA! My wife quit smoking then started again, then quit, then started again, (this goes on a couple of times) then she goes to her Dr. for her usual physical and he does a chest x-ray because of her coughing!! Typical responce, HMMMMMMM, I don't like the look of this dark area. Several te$t$ later he decides it's benign. My wife quit smoking......that was a couple of years ago. I think that gave her the big scare, kinda like a reserve with a bunch of holes in it at 500 feet!!! I smoked in High School and quit, smoked in College and quit, smoked in the Navy and said when we get back from Viet Nam I'm quitting. That was Dec of '68. Havn't smoked since. For what it's worth, if you want to quit, you can say that smoking was part of your past, but not part of your future. Good luck. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  16. Hi 29, Well, at least you got your "B" and Uspa has a record of that! As for your log, it will be a hassle but considering that it hasn't been too many years, try getting in contact with the people you jumped with and go thru their logs and re-record the jumps you made with them. I like to keep detailed logs, (who's on the dive, formations, "video") and have helped some of my unfortunate friends "re-remember" dives we made together. Good luck!! 17. Hi Nick, OMG!!!! The Strato FRYER!!!, The "Nylon Hammer!!" The canopy that won't go away!! Red Beard came over one night and wanted to "Give" me a Strato Flyer! I didn't want it, but after a bunch of beers, he went home and left the Strat. at my place. I couldn't give it away!! Anyway, one night later, Matt McKillowatt came by and after some beers I got him to take the Strato Flyer!!!! Finally, it's gone!!! Used to cringe when I'd watch Geno Johnson's Strato flyer "landings!" He'd dive at the ground then flare for all heck and pound the ground!!!!! He said the landings were fine, but why were there cracks in the hardpan where his feet hit!!!?? Tried a couple of jumps on a Paramount 160 but only in 10+mph winds. Even then the landings were dicy!!! Too much FUN!!!! BTW remember when you had to get "checked out " to pack ram air reserves!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  18. Hi JB, 'Used to drive truck OTR Long haul glass. 'Been to lots of different "Hooters" from Canada to Florida, The Atlantic coast to the Mid West. "And" one or two in Jersey too! The wings were Great, The Ladies were Great, and whatever dippin sauce I got was Great too. It was "Hooters!!!" not the Waldorf! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  19. Hi Supv, "Funny thing you should mention that!!!!" My realestate agent and I would usually stop by Hooters after looking at a batch of houses....... I got a house......... Agent calls and wants to go party........... We go to Hooters......... That was a couple of years ago.............. We're married now and "Hooters" is still our favorite. 20. Hi Flyer, Like tight within reason should be good enough. Remember it's the "Snatch force" (the grabbing power of the pilot chute at bridle stretch, NOT the all girl skydiving team!!!!!) that's extracting the pin. If you want to get your rig a bit more freeflyfriendly, you can get a BOC pouch installed for not too much and as for the bottom corner curl under, here's a tip. Your rigger can sew a piece of T/XII webbing or the like to the bottom corners of the container in an "L" pattern from the bottom by the backpad and up the side then fair it in to the corner of the side flaps. Inastant curl under and then you can sit fly all you want without having to buy a new rig!! Tacking the bottom corners of the side flaps where they meet the bottom flap for about an inch would also do. These are just some ideas, each rig would require its own engineering. Have fun! 21. Hi Flyer, Like wendy said, Horney gorilla's have been around for longer than free flying or free flying gear. The classic gorilla dive is roll a tube out the door, when it goes over on its side, everone lets go of the high grip to a upside down donut, then let go-reform a round and do the horney gorilla! Get a copy of Norm Kent's video, "Freak Brothers Convention" and you will see a bunch of "Freak Flying!" in it. Like Roger Freak Flying with one leg crossed!! Oh yes, check out the "Tea Cup" dive too!! I was in on the 24-way "Tea Cup" at Freak Brothers '84, good fun! (not in that video though) No body had any freakin' freefly gear then, just good old Vectors and Racers and Wonder hogs and what-ever! My Mirage touted the curl under of the side flaps to make it more "free-fly-friendly!!" (that seems to give the butt-to-earth gang more warm fuzzies) however, my old Vector and prior to that Wonder Hog didn't have that feature yet held together in any aerobatic gyration!! Now if you have a loose pack tray or a loose closing loop, freefly rig or not, you're asking for trouble no matter what body attitude you're in! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  22. Hi-Jahk, I like the"Crunchy", and don't forget the jelly or honey on the bread with it!!!! Now ya got me goin'.... back in the early 60's (maybe late 50's??) the Coasters came out with their hit song "Peanut Butter" !!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  23. Hey Blind Baby, "File under reconstruction" and 51 weeks and 2 daze says it all!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must have really pushed one of their "Lets see what we can do to fuck with this guy" buttons!!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  24. Hi Mike, When I got my Senior ticket in '71 in San Diego, I got two letters and a number. I've seen several similar since and know of a few guys who got three letters also. Maybe there are still some loose three letter combos left? I wonder who got "SEX" Right before I started jumping in Louisiana, 3 local jumpers went to the DPRE in New Iberia, La. to get their Senior tickets. The symbols were, "FUJ" "FUK" and "FUL". The jumpers were Ben Seal, Jr., Charlie LeBlanc and Neuman Gill. Charlie got the "FUK!!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  25. Hi Tony, Got to jump the Mimi a couple of times before it got 86'ed from the DZ. Got a pix of it somewhere in my archives. Fun ride, ya' just had to watch for the hydraulic oil drips!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
