  1. Thanks freezone, a 160 it is, ( same as a 170 tempo) the rest of you thanks for your input, I totaly appricate your care for myself being, and so on....... but I believe that all reserves should be ZP I mean that is what we fly now, why go back to student gear? My rig is small, super cool looking, and if I die my whoofo' fly. won't understand any how! The worst caes scenerio, AAD fire low and your over a neighberhood. well your probably already dead if your unconsios anyway, and 1.5/1 on am F111 with breaks set dosen't scare me, now that I have though about it:)] cheers J
  2. I'm 240 out the door! the biggest reserve I can fit is a Tempo 170. Which is what I am jumping. 1.41/1 wing loading. I would like a fresh reserve. The biggest I can fit is a PDR 160 or a Smart 160. both will put me at a 1.5/1 wing load. Is this something that is a " big deal" to step up a . in wingloading? I mean, I already at 1.41/1 is 1.5/1 that much of am increase when considering a beter performing reserve?
  3. Tempo 170, PDR 160, Smart 160.. all tight fit.
  4. HA! What brake stowing with an Icarus tandem?
  5. Find a heated pool, maybe at a spa, or a health club in your area. Contact any Instructor you may know, ask if he will meet you. Contact the owner of the pool and see if he will let you guys in 10 minutes before closing. The book stuff, and the test can be administered before at your house, or in your car. Your going to have to round up an old canopy and old harness, and you should jump in with clothes/ or a jumpsuit. So bring a change of clothes. There is an outline in the sims of how the water training should be conducted. You might be able to extrapolate from there. I did mine in a seaplane water way. Cold, dark, and murky. It was fun[
  6. The girl's rig on the right in the photo is off her back quite a ways. Is this normal in that flying position? Is that what cut in laterals do, keep the rig tight, and close to your body?
  7. thanks guys, keep it comming, no one is here to make fun of you. Obvously we have all hade to deal with what we got! Packing errors seems like, comments are welcome.
  8. Thanks Karlm, I guess thoes rings realy work! I always had speculation about them, but then I am no rigger!
  9. Thanks JP, I have no Icon to play with , but if you have tried it then it is ok with me. You can understand it just look (funny)
  10. Thanks guys keep it up, seems like line twist have the head! Seems like such a simple mal to deal with under an F 111 student canopy, as we get into higher wingloading the simple become the bad.
  11. Is anyone else concerned about the elongated ring on the three ring relese on the new Icon risers? Stated to help reduce the force of a hard pull, I have no problem with the gear but dose anayone else worry about it twisting anf becoming stuck? I am no master rigger and am making no clames about Icon
  12. My first was a linetwist. I was jumping a Sabre2 150 loaded at 1.6/1. I cutaway at 1,800 ft. because I could not un-twist it, I tried. It was on my 450 th. jump at the AOTMB in 2002. I believe it was my right riser trapped under the corner of my packed reserve that caused an unstable deployment......leading to line twist. I have since switched to slinkes
  13. HI all, just wondering with all of us jumping high wing loadings, what was the reasons for your cutaways? If I have left out something please post the reason for your cutaways. I would like to here from jumpers loading above 1.5/1 or jumping less than 150 square ft. canopies. If you post please give us the details.......where, when, why, and what you have learned. Lets make this educational
  14. Mike, So what? your some bad ass rigger in Atlanta. You know more than the rest of us, in our limited knowledge of rigging, that is your excuse for defending skyride? (remember were talking about skyride, and asc is the root) It sounds to me that your trying to defend yourself, rather than skyride! Unnecessary comment removed by slotperfect Where is Ben and Cary to help defend you? We have read the post of your younger jumpers defending your loft, but have herd nothing from Ben or Cary in your defense! You have posted how you write articles for the better of the sport, have you nothing to say about the stolen material from skyride! Its like SID wrote that a moderator deleted...................and it continues to be of no contribution to this thread, and was removed again - slotperfect For someone who has been in the sport as long as you have, don't you know about the rats and the sinking ship story? I have nothing against the jumpers in Atlanta, their DZ is marketed very well, and they should be happy to jump a turbine every day if they wish, or that they have a professional rigger heading up the staff. However they should feel ashamed that all the money they pay for jumps goes to the theft of copyrighted material......I hate thieves! I have written in this forurm that I was out! but you Mike have brought be back into it! Your DZO's are thieves, it has been proved in this fourm, with links taken from the actual skyride websights. I received an email from the management of Skydive centers thanking me for informing them that skyride has hijacked their sight, and thier materials and they have taken steps to reduce skyride. Its not just us ( jumpers) its DZO's everywhere that hate skyride for their illegle practices. You should stop posting in this forum, you apparlently are digging your own hole. I would hate to see you buried in it. Go back to your loft, and ignore this forum, Since you have taken sides, I will also, no more work for chutingstar rigging services from me!
  15. After stoping at Moss Point continue west on I-10 then transfer to I-310 and travel west north west to HOUMA, LA find Thibadoux, La (La or Hy 90) to have a great time at ther New Orleans Skydive Center! Then travel west north west to Jeanerette, LA and make a few jumps at Louisiana Air Sports. The next DZ is in Beumont Tx. After traveling west north west you will reconnect to I-10 in Lafayette La, and your on your way west to TX. Have fun, and try to eat some cajun foods!
  16. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I started a new topic and reposted it. Mike will delete it again, but we can at least be a pest. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I appreciate the extra work you've given me. Of course it will be deleted. Mike You have won my vote, until now I would have called you a nuetral. Now you have joined the fray! I will instruct all of my students to stay clear of chutingstar rigging services in the future. You simply can't be trusted.
  17. HI Cayce, It is always hard to explain to wuffo's about skydiving. They ask why would you jump out of a good plane? the most common skydiver response is " the door was open", Ha, ha! But really, they will never get it! Be glad your in the sport, and try not to look down upon your co-workers for their ignorance. I have tried to tell whuffo's that scuba diving and snow skiing are ranked more dangerous than skydiving, but to them swimming in the deep blue, or skiing down a snow covered mountain is more beautiful picture to mind. Then there is always the question " What if the chute don't open?" question. You have begun a journey, you have started something that is bigger than you, your wife, and all your friends. What you do with it is up to you, but keep this in mind. Hopefully you will never regret and never forget all the fond memories you have, and all those to come, all the new friends you have made. I personally want to be a very old man in a nursing home somewhere, and be able to state this is what I have accomplished in my life. Any ways good luck and welcome to (our) world. Kinda gives you a new perspective on life, uh?( skydiving does) As far as your co workers, stop mentioning you jump to them, and don't sweaty the petty stuff, pet the sweaty stuff!
  18. Hi Jen, I tried calling the phone number listed in the USPA dropzone index, but the number was disconnected Would you tell us what type of plane? Is it a 182? and who is the DZO? I was wondering if the staff was jumpers I may know from Moss Point. Thanks J
  19. I have called all the DZO I know along the gulf coast to give them a heads up incase they come in trying to sell! However I think their going to have to go overseas to try to sell this gear, it's too hot! Anyone on the north and west of TX call your local DZO and give them the heads up> I hate gear theives. If I ever catch someone stealing my gear I'm gonna.....................
  20. Sorry Rhonda isn't a fun jumper, she is a student. The USPA considers anyone who dosen't have a compleated A license card stamped by an Instructor, a student. sorry man. really, sorry. I'm sure Rhonda is a good person, and so are you, but each DZO has the right to charge what he wants. I know you must be pissed about it. If you are an unknown, with a passenger you going to have to expect this kind of treatment. Maybe you might consider buying your own plane, hire your own pilot, file your own notams, and then you still can't do everything you want, you have to follow FAA. I am not sure , but I believe if the USPA say it is this way then most probably the FAA will back it. Skydivers regulate skydivers. and a fun/upjumper means at least an A liscnese.
