  1. it sounds like you're the one doing the "bitching and moaning!!!!"
  2. I learned on the "dope rope" also.
  3. (my DZ) doesn't take skyride certificates due to being screwed by Skyride refusing to pay and Skyride's odd tax practices< ----------------------------------------------------- Yeah! , apparently our DZO is owed quite a few thousand from Skyride and is having trouble collecting. He most definatly wants to stop using them, however he is scared they may not pay him if he suddlenly cut them off,,, he is a stupid man and has come to the conculision that he will only take a few every weekend until he is paid off. It is over due by severial months. So we can add does not pay their labor to the list of lie, cheat, steal.
  4. tandemreserves have been designed for tandemterminal openings!
  5. keep in mind your position will change from freefall to "in the saddle" of your reserve therfore the chance is your alredy cutaway main d-bag will fall between your feet ywords the ground. not up as you say.
  6. Do they still give jumper who jump the beach free beer? We used to get pitcher, after pitcher of free beer, then go around and make total asshats of ourselves. It was a lot of fun
  7. The real fight is actually ahead... it can be a long and protracted fight, and I know Mike is going to need our help every step of the way if he is going to win. Keep the faith!
  8. I tracked for the first time and it was amazing. Great......Leg awarness drills on Cat-B tandem jumps will totaly help prevent you from backsliding when you go AFF.
  9. Anyone with a stake in this issue can fill out the form at https://rn.ftc.gov/...rtup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01.
  10. I'll try to get the video to you, at pull time the video guy goes to a sitfly to video the opening so he was still with us in free fall. Trap door, ofcourse you know this already, but.. I consider the feeling to be of two parts, first the drouge collapses so the pair speeds up, then the D-bag deploys from the tray an rapidly decelerates the pair and I feel like we sorta swing under the main canopy. This is not what happened, There was no swinging feeling as the D bag decelerated us, it just Slammed open after hesitating at pull time. The video revealed the D-bag stayed on my back and rolled around causing the linetwist. I believe there was a problem with the drouge, it was switched out and the rest of the jumps that day went well. Thank you for posting Bill.
  11. You do not breakaway after you have pulled the droque-release
  12. Funny story when I went through my coach course several years ago. On my second evaluation jump, at the 20 minuet call I went to find my evaluator. He was hanging out and talking with some other jumpers, not wearing a rig. He looked at me and said "Ok, lets just say the first gear check is done, I meet you at the boarding area. Later when he arrived he was not wearing his rig, instead he was test jumping another jumpers rig who was complaining to him it was new and had a built in turn. Also my evaluator was a rigger. So I started with "time in". I reviewed the winds and where he should be at 1000 ft and proceeded to give him a gear check. First thing was the seal was broken on his reserve. He said your kidding, I said we were going to scratch the load, he said no if everything else was OK with the rig. He jumped it like that, no big deal to me either I thought it was a test, but it turns out it was not a test. He actually didn't perform a gear check on the rig before putting it on. Nothing eventful happened on the jump, except for the fact that I learned even evaluators with thousands of jumps make mistakes. " do as I say, not as I do"
  13. Agreed. Got my Tandem with Bram, excellent teacher, going to look him up when ready for AFF.
  14. There is a high probability your going to learn how to teach using principals of adult learning.[ 80-20-8 ] More than likely your going to have homework to include a presentation out of the ISP cat G or H. Familiarize your self with Cat A, G, H because that is the role of the coach. Since you have the IRM now would also be a good time to look up the answers to the test. The coach test is in the IRM and if I remember correctly it is an open book test. Know where to find the BSR's and FAR's in the SIM's. I took mine over 3 years ago so it all a little fuzzy, but I remember the examiner I had for the jumps misrouted a legstrap, and folded under his cutaway handle, so figure a logical way to do gear checks for students. I use top to bottom, back to front. Good luck and have fun. hope this helps.
  15. It happened to me on a Vector 2 this weekend also. I was considering posting it but then I decided not to. At 5.5K I pulled the main drouge release and no trap door! I always gear check before donning and the release cables were routed correctly and not doubled through. As I put my hand on the second release handle the canopy slammed open, wait I mean it SLAMMED open! My audible set for 3.5 started ringing as I was looking up at about 6 linetwists. So that 2000' in about 5-6 seconds. I believe the drouge was collapsed after I pulled the main handle, why I didn't get trap door I don't know. The video revieled the contianer opened but the bag stayed on my back kinda hung out there.
  16. Second point: DZ's are supposed to comply witht the FAR's by law. BSR's have no legality to them and are purely voluntary and most DZ's violate them with impunity. Since the DZ is no a GM DZ, they haven't 'pledged' to follow the BSR's. Since it isn't an FAA requirement for a AFFI, IADI, or S/LI to be rated, the FAA doesn't care a bit, they aren't violating the FAR's.
  17. To protect yourself, start by refusing to sign any junior jumper's logbook and making damn sure that your name never appears on any paperwork vaguely related to any student
  18. Back onto brakes again held the canopy stable. Check of altimeter and we were at 1000ft. I thought about cutting away but didnt as the canopy was stable in half brakes, and I was concerned that if I let up prior to doing my EP's the canopy would collapse in on itself, losing valuable altitude.
  19. The fact that the DZO nor the rest of the jumpers or Instructors have noticed this point. They say its "ok" cause he is under the care of the S&TA, and his proficiency card is almost filled out. They miss the fact that there is an Instructional rating course that goes along with that card. HE [this non rated I] is now suddenly transitioning students to BOC, deciding to lower wingloadings, and deciding when students are ready to take longer delays (S/L program). Training them for there next jump, and I'll wind up as jumpmaster sometimes. I fell uneasy about it cause I do not know what, or how effective the students training was.The dz is non group member. I am afraid someone might get hurt/killed[which is always possably regardless if your an I or not]. So I ask One more question to the group of very well informed Instructors. If I continue to jump there, [ I'm a S/L-I and a T-I] but do not work as staff, just fun jump, and a student is injured, is there a chance I could be held responsible for allowing the BSR and FAR violations to continue with out ever narking the DZ out? Who do I nark to the USPA or the FAA. Note: I do not plan on narking. Thank you for your contributions and answers.
  20. EXAMPLE: No instructor has shown up for work at the DZ, there are students waiting to jump. Can an S&TA allow a non rated individual to act as Instructor for the day?
  21. I don't think a coach should be allowed to hold a static line. I have seen to many incidents already because the DZO and the S&TA DO NOT understand the role of a coach, and probably believe they are the new and improved jumpmaster. As a CCD I do not believe a coach receives enough method specific training in a coach course to act as instructor. That was my $0.02, opinions may vary.
