  1. Sure I didn't say it's not funny to make light of people who perpetuate the serteotype of any subculture, but I guess looking at that kind of behaviour objectively you have to wonder why kids do these kinds of things? I can imagine it's because they're growing up and trying to fit in, they're finding their feet and looking to belong or looking to associate with something and sometimes that means dressing a certain way because they think it's cool or they identify with it... It's a learning thing and not everyone can be self assured at a young age to forge their own style and still fit happily into playground society. I never dressed emo, or sat around and cut myself but I did listen to the music from about age 15 when emo wasn't really as popular as it is these days and it definitely wasn't something you choose to listen to to fit in when everyone else was listening to grunge and poppunk or rap and rnb. I think with every wave of music there will always be one that appears to insight violence or sadness or harm, and people will go ahead and blame it like they blame emo or goth or punk or whatever, but the people who act upon the violence or sadness are doing so because something else is wrong... They just identify with the music, I don’t imagine it to be the cause of their issues. There are plenty of people who have grown up with that kind of music and haven't gone to extremes. Of course I'm sure I'm not saying anything here that people don't already know... I think people trash stuff without any idea of what they're trashing.... Now if anyone wants to talk about how bad rnb, western music and metal is and how it's degrading our society and killing our youth... 2. Hey, where is my PM mister Lazy McLazy Face McGee? i've had to resort to actually reading and replying to the forum And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  3. ugh, people are so judgemental... you can actually listen to the music and really appreciate it because it appeals to you, without wearing black and having a floppy fringe and too much eye make up. just because some people choose to dress a certain way doesn't mean everyone who listens to emo is a cry baby who wants to cut themselves. I couldn't be happier with my life but i still like the tunes... anyway sounds like another ridiculous scapegoat, guess marylin manson just isn't around so much these days to take the blame for the behaviour of others.
  4. I always have the say the little rhyme: Thirty days have september, april, june and november. All the rest have 31. (except February - 28) yeah i know the last bit doesn't rhyme, i can never remember how it goes, but the first bit gives you pretty much everything you need. At least this way you don't look like a goose with your hands together counting your knuckles every time you're trying to work out the days in a month eh squeak And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  5. Not private, but I never accept anyone as a friend unless I know them or they've made a decent attempt to know me through sending messages. I don't really care about who looks at my page, that's what it's there for. I've never had any problems with weirdos because of it, and I have nothing on there that i'd need to hide from anyone... well not anyone who would be using myspace - don't think my family would bother to negotiate it anyway. 6. Happy Birthday Jafaman! I hope you have a most wonderful day.
  7. haha she was pissed and fell over or maybe not, but that's what I'll go with until told otherwise you are completely right squeak, i was running across the road at night in the rain, drunk and slipped, tore a bunch of ligaments/tendons/muscles. FUN! it's on the mend but i'm still not jumping for another few weeks. Anyway thanks everyone!! I had a top birthday
  8. Really sad for his wife and two kids. You kind of think of characters like him as invincible because they seem so animated, but I guess when you constantly put yourself into a situation with potentially deadly, unpredictable creatures something is going to happen eventually. Apparently the occurance of being killed by a sting ray barb is so rare that there are only two previous deaths on record in Australia - and the last one was in 1948. That's bloody unlucky. But who knows what the interaction was proceeding the sting. And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  9. Merde, Merde, Merde! Not the result I wanted. I'd love to know what was said to provoke Zidane into such an out-of-character act. Horrible to reduce yourself to that on the doorstep of retirement (or anytime for that matter). Full points for playing on with a dislocated shoulder before that though, gosh that magic spray they put on everything does wonders! haha Ribery was the man of the game for the french in my opinion, every time I saw him he was running and making an effort to create chances, but with nobody up front to finish them it's all wasted effort. What is with Henry though? seriously what kind of 'world class' striker is left pouting midway up the field while his team mates are attempting an attack in the box? at least twice, maybe three times he was completely out of play when they had an opportunity, and would it kill him to run or defend a little? Was he missing a leg? What was going on there? Ah well, the penalty that wasn't a penalty and the one that went begging that was... the diving and face clutching, the shirt pulling in the box, the potential offsides (how amazing was that free kick and header from the Italians that got denied though). The boring defensive play on both accounts... Anyway over again for another 4 years, shame the theatrics and questionable ref-ing plays such a big part in the cup. I'm pretty dissapointed overall with the quality of goals and attacking moves, seems more teams are playing the defensive game and opting to gain the easy free kick or penalty... I guess that shit wins in the end, whether it's deserved or not ...Lowest count for a golden boot winner ever I believe? Where have the ideals gone? Can I ask people... I've been watching the world game for longer than I can remember, I grew up on it, but were the diving, cheating and theatrics always this bad? Did I just not understand because I was too young? or is it getting worse? I mean there have always been nations who are notorius for that kind of thing but it seems like more and more players are going for the low moral road... 10. I will only ever add someone if they've taken the time to message me first, it says this in my profile. Maybe this person is the same? Drop them a message and say hi, i'm sure they would add you after a quick chat, you seem like a nice guy. Of course you may have already done this, in which case, ignore me --------- And on topic: I'm pretty sure I already posted my link in this thread at some point. 11. Sigur Ros, their album Takk. It's one of the best albums i've ever heard by any artist. And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  12. hahahahaha NO WAY! i'll be at the Agincourt again in the city near UTS on George St. Only 2 mins walk from my place and not packed with Italians who could potentially be celebrating infront of me were we to GOD FORBID not kick their butts! Not that we won't... just doing some personal pre-emptive damage control in the event of the unlikely situation And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  13. Thanks. One hell of a showing is right! and it could have been an even better showing if the ref was not a complete and utter moron, FIFA should sack his sorry ass... i'm not usually one to complain about ref-ing but seriously I think Simunic became the first player in WC history to receive 3 yellow cards in one game! just a disgrace, how does that shit happen? Not to mention the two hand balls, the rugby tackle on Viduka, the foul up on the final wistle and that sorry red card for Emerton. argh Graham Poll, what a jerkpants! BUT all in all what a game. I woke up at 4am, walked to the pub and had a beer in my hand by 4:30am. So painful to be at work today but the headache I have is totally worth it! To finally have my country in the finals is just amazing, i've been watching the game for longer than I can remember and all these years i've had to support England! Bring on the Italians!!!! 16. Didn't make it out on Saturday, made the call from the shire at about 1pm that is was too windy, stayed inside in the warmth and watched dvds instead Planned to go out on Sunday but a sleep in and another windy day kept me away. Hopefully i'll be there next Monday but that's not confirmed... Anyway plenty of time for all of that, i'm sure we'll run into eachother sooner or later! Good luck for the A exam this Wednesday, i'm sure you'll do fine.

    Fatality in Norway

Lying next to you exactly one month ago today before falling asleep we had this conversation… you were about to head to Norway for another summer in Lysebotn and I said please be safe because I don’t want to get a call in a few weeks at some dumb hour of the morning telling me you’ve come off second best with a cliff… you just smiled and hugged me till sleep came to us both. This morning I got that call… I wish I’d had a bit more time... Coombesy you were one hell of a great guy and will be missed by so many people. I’ll look out for shooting stars when I’m peeing in the bush..xxx And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  20. www.myspace.com/malstergables I created it about a month or so ago but I get over things pretty quickly so my message replies are kind of slow. p.s not sure if I got that clicky-making thing right? 21. Well it's Monday here now and i'm at work nursing my wounds from putting myself over the handlebars of my mountain bike whilst downhilling yesterday. Just some scrapes and cuts and a sprained wrist. Was a whole bunch of fun though! I'm now frantically trying to re-grow the skin on my palms before next weekend haha. (yes yes, invest in gloves!) 22. I love my work, I love the people, I love the open plan office, I love all my little trinkets and stickers all over my desk, I love that I can wear sneakers and jeans to work each day in the office, I love that we have a ping pong table in the middle of our office for afternoon championships, I love how on fridays sometimes we'll just put a musical dvd on one of the big macs and sing along to the old songs, I love how we have morning tea cake for anything and everything possible (we celebrated with cake, the birthday of someone who had already left the company last year), I love how sometimes I have to spend half a day sourcing waterpistols or pens on lanyards or baby seals that make a seal noise when you press them, I love when I have to write copy for a promotion, I love choosing who wins a competition and then telling them they've won $5000. I really do like my job... there is nothing I really hate about it. And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need 'Cause you knew you were finally free - Death Cab For Cutie
  23. Wow for some reason I always pictured you as short. Dunno why, I have a skewed perception of height. I'm 5'5" and I always think i'm taller than I am. Whenever I see people who are my height or a bit taller I think, holy crap that person is short, then I stand next to them and think, oh yeah that's right... I think maybe it's because I have two really good short friends that I hang out with often. I'm used to being tall! 24. I think there is a difference between being self-centred and being selfish. I'm a self-centred person in the fact that I do like my own company a great deal and sometimes I don't think about other people around me, not in a malicious way or anything though, more like I just don't think it's my business a lot of the time. It's not like i'm only focused on me and I expect others to be, it's more like i'm focused on me because I don't consider it anyone else's job/right to be. Does that make sense? I still go out of my way to help people and spend time with my mates, but I do think i'm pretty self-centred. However I think a selfish person is all about themselves in order to gain something from it, (attention/possessions/status etc) denying other people to improve their situation. That is not cool. I don't think you're selfish at all Jef, I have no idea whether you're self-centred though. That's something you should probably know, I don't necissarily think it's a bad thing though.
