  1. Nice car !! Congrats. Don't get too greedy for speed(on the road anyway). DO NOT get into modifying that thing. There is no limit to how much money you can spend on the car. Trust me I know. You are better off though coz you have the cure. You already skydive and will keep that in mind before pulling out that CC. Kris.
  2. The website is now accessible. Kris.
  3. hey I am the "hundred jump wonder" what can I say
  4. I did post on 'a thread' that spoke about the issue. (Tandem ISP vs Traditional AFF). I mean no disrespect but your opinion or the opinion of a jumper with 100,000 jumps is only as good as mine. Coz its just that an opinion. No offense intended, but that's where the phrase "hundred jump wonder" comes from. Are you honestly arguing that a person with 100 jumps, including a couple tandems, can opine on tandem instruction with the same level of authorty as a tandem instructor with 1000 jumps? Kris............................................AggieDave 100 jumps...................................1000 jumps a couple front-side tandems...........a couple hundred jumps as a tandem instructor Now honestly...who's opinion on tandem instruction should carry more weight? Blues, Dave I guess I needed to explain my point a bit more in that post. On an issue like whether Traditional AFF or Tandem ISP is better. You will get opinions on both sides of the fence. And yes even if we polled only jumpers with over 3000 jumps. That is why we have the two methods of instruction. Lets us take an example. DropZone A: Follows AFF Every instructor that works here, or a jumper(with more than a 1000 jumps) that jumps here will tell anyone(that wants to start jumping) that asks them that AFF is the best method of instruction. DropZone B: Follows AFF Every instructor that works here, or a jumper(with more than a 1000 jumps) that jumps here will tell anyone(that wants to start jumping) that asks them that Tandem ISP is the best method of instruction. So who is right? I am not giving advise on how to do a hook turn or even how to land or when to flare. I am giving(in case you missed it) my opinion on which progression is better for a newbie. The same as Dave or another jumper with many more jumps than Dave who has a different opinion. Who has how many jumps does'nt matter in this case. That is why I call it trivial. I don't even know if Dave was refering to me in the original post. That is not why I replied. I was trying to point out that it was trivial. My first Jump was an AFF jump. I later moved to a Dz that had Tandem ISP and went thru that progression. I have experienced both forms of training(to a certain degree) as a newbie and 'advise' other newbies on which one is better if both are available. I would'nt touch the debate if it was brought up by an experienced jumper with a 10 foot pole. Kris
  5. I did post on 'a thread' that spoke about the issue. (Tandem ISP vs Traditional AFF). I mean no disrespect but your opinion or the opinion of a jumper with 100,000 jumps is only as good as mine. Coz its just that an opinion. My first jump was a traditional AFF jump. I later moved on to the Tandem program. I have an opinion on the issue and I will give my opinion when someone asks for it. I seriously wonder why you should be concerned about something trivial like this. Kris.
  6. Aha...... Kim you should make a few hop-n-pop jumps so that you can work on your canopy skills . Oh wait that would make you a cheater Kris.
  7. I agree. But that does not make you a good or even safe canopy pilot Why? I was in my traditional approach pattern and a canopy landed under me(He was crosswind..I was about 10' above the canopy). Later the DZO came up to me and asked me if I saw the other canopy. I told him "not until he was in my field of vision". Then I started to explain how I was the first to enter the pattern and how the other jumper was crosswind, etc. He said, "I know you are not at fault but that does'nt matter much if you have a canopy collision at 50 ft. Keep your head on a snivel and watch out for canopies at all times." While you can hardly call the other jumper in this case a good canopy pilot. However, I did not do everything I could to avoid the close call. Both of us were equally oblivious. Now I choose the spot I am going to land at and fly a pattern that puts me a safe distance away from the other canopies. I am also proactively watching out for other canopies. Kris.
  8. That test is messed up. All these are innovative ways to make people come to the site and click on the link after the test. Proof below. Your Attract-o-meter reading: 56% You'll do! You don't scrub up too bad, though you do resort to a few tried and tested tricks to, well, trick people as to your relative gorgeousness. Don't worry, we all do it. There is no shame in it as long as no out-and-out lies are involved, and those can stay between you and your conscience. A move up the ranks beckons for those who want it, however, with easy bonus points to be gained through doing something different from time to time - click below to see how.
  9. Do not try anything without discussing it with your instructors.
  10. It is on food network at 9 PM EST. This is a repeat with Batali vs Morimoto at 10 PM EST. Kris.
  11. I think it was kinda unfair the judges are from America and they obviously like southwestern taste. However they gave them both equal points for presentation. That is total BS. Kris.
  12. And who is going to win?? It is a fish battle, my vote is for sakai. Kris.
  13. I am on my first canopy a Sabre2 190. I jumped Original sabres as a student. I never demo-ed(sp?) any other kind of canopy before placing the order for the Sabre2. I have no complaints, however if I had the chance to do it again, I would have demo-ed the Safire2, Pilot and the Spectre as well. You have that chance, why not take advantage of it? Kris.
  14. Disclaimer : I don't know this DZ and I have nothing against anyone from there. And I never said they were gouging anyone either. It is definately unethical. If you don't agree on that then we'll have to agree to disagree. I realize that they are at 5K MSL and if they are flying to 13.5K AGL then a price of 22 seems better than fair. I pay 20 bucks at ~30 MSL for a jump ticket to 13.5K. I did not and do not claim that it is any of my business how anyone runs their DZ. I believe even an unregulated business cannot force me to pay money for a service that they did not provide me. As for the they could have called it a price increase...... yeah yeah....could have, should have, would have....we are discussing the email that is in front of us not a hypothetical situation. Kris.
  15. Would it be right to infer that on smaller sport main(sub 200 sq.ft) canopies, that the Pro pack leads to a malfunction with less frequency than a flat pack? Does the statement also imply that there is a higher chance of a packing error when Pro Packing large canopies? Kris
  16. I've done many all women events. The first thing you notice is that the planes don't get that ugly farty smell in them Maybe you are right but then we would'nt know
  17. Thanks for the input ManBird and Katie. I will work a lot on the exit and deployment. There have been a few freefly jumps that I have gone to belly at 9K and tracked (off the line of light). I will get a lot of tracking jumps in and some pointers from the experienced trackers at our DZ. Kris.
  18. It really should'nt matter if the increase in price is for all jumpers. IMO no one should be able to force anyone to contribute to a charity. How would you like it if the grocery store said you need to contribute $1 with every purchase made here today? So why is a DZ different?? They can increase the price of their jumpticket to whatever they want, but they are out of line in forcing every jumper to make a donation on every jump. Even if it was tax deductible. The appropriate way to ask for a charitable contribution is to encourage people to donate voluntarily. Not enforce it. I would be very agitated if someone forced me to do something like this. Kris.
  19. I use the small bands and yes they seem loose but they have worked fine for me.
  20. Thanks so much for the advise. I did intend to get Instruction from a real BM-I. I will do most of my exits from now in the tracking position just to get the practice even if I am doing something else on the dive. Since I am jumping out of an otter, I believe I will have to practice jumping out with legs together and arms next to the sides(wings collapsed) and then go to the tracking position(about 2 secs later). What about the openings? Should these be in a slight track? Or should I practice with the arms at the tracking position but bent knees thing? I jump a Sabre 2 190 (WL 1.1). Kris.
  21. From the time I looked at some wingsuit flight videos, I knew I just had to fly a wingsuit. I started jumping on Oct 5, 2003 and have have 111 jumps to date. I am waiting eagerly to get the remaining 100 or so jumps in so that I can get instruction and try a wingsuit. I need to hit the Gym and start to get in shape. Are there any birdman instructors in Houston, Texas? I have a Mirage G4 with a regular size PC Bridle and a "freefly pud" handle. Is it better to get a PC with a 100-120" bridle and a hackey handle? Kris.
