Dude. I kinda know how you feel if you look back to some of my very first posts. I asked for certain advice about canopy shit and didn't get what I was looking for and just got the "your gonna die" treatment. I was super pissed. Then, I just thought everyone was being jackasses and had no clue what was up and how I was superior to all mankind. J/k... Now that I have alot more experience (yet still not enough) I realize I was the one being the jackass, and thank God I was lucky enough to not kill myself. Now when I teach people I tell them mistakes I made and hopefully they'll listen and not try to figure it out themselves. There's too many people that think they're different and can do it their way, then get fucked up. So, I hope that your as lucky as me to not die when thinking your the shit. Cuz your not. Don't think your an exception just because you grew up around the sport. So, hopefully you'll continue to jump and be safe and someday realize maybe everything you've done isn't so smart, but be glad you made it through it all alive. But what do I know, I'm only 21

OK...so bullshit has been going on for a long time that basically involves a few airport employees disliking the dropzone for no real reason. They're trying to get rid of us! Todays newspaper had this issue on the front page...including ME landing. Hehe. I thought it was kinda weird considering I didn't even talk to the news guys when they were here. ...but that's not freefall Either way it's up to her or whoever is deciding. Which she has expressed to me that AFF sounds more exciting. There was more than one reason I told her to come to ESD and do AFF. Heck, she could come to us and do S/L. It's safer over here and she knows what I'm talking about. But simply put, from what I've seen from alot of students, going from a tandem to S/L is not that appealing. Even first time students that come to do S/L and realize the lower altitudes, choose a tandem instead.

I know eventually you gain delays...but compared to AFF where you start right out with full altitude...

Overall, here, they cost about the same. Your just spending more at once to get thru AFF and off student status. S/L costs the same but is drawn out. Less focus on canopy control? They're the same. You have to land a parachute with both. Period.

Does that mean the reserve itself being completely submerged in water or a swooper chowing and going completely in?

I'm pretty sure a PD reserve that has gotten wet should be sent back to the manufacturer. That shows PD thinks something bad comes from getting wet. *I don't know if the previous incident involved a PD reserve...just stating something I was told.

Come next door and do AFF. You might not like static line since there's no freefall...but Wright Brothers doesn't offer AFF...so come to Eugene Skydivers! :)
