My baby is from a breed rescue - he was in a kitty mill. There were 300 cats when he was rescued. Most died. He was very sick and scared when I got him. We've had him for 6 years now and its taken alot of work to get him to let me pet him (took right up with my husband, of course) but now he's my boy! Its so sad people think baby showers suck. Its usually the only 'celebration' most moms-to-be get, and by the time it comes around they're usually miserable from pregnancy discomforts. My baby came too early so I didn't get a traditional one (people sent gifts and nice cards, but I would have liked the get together more... we didn't need 'stuff'), and even a year later I still miss not having that opportunity. Baby showers are supposed to be nice get togethers... not torture, and its not about themes either - its about the mix of people that shape the atmosphere. Agreed. I have mine at emigrantdirect also, at 5.05%. I believe its doing better than ING which only gives you 4.75% You could also put it in a money market account - I believe you have a week to get any money out of some of those. The only problem with that is that the interest rate rides the stock market - which right now would be a good thing, as the market is doing very well. The stock market has averaged 12% interest since the great depression. When I have the $25k saved up to cover emergencies, by next year, I will put it in a money market. Jen Arianna Frances

That's the exact reason I didn't jump at Perris last time I was there. It scared the shit out of me as far as sheer number of aircraft, people and landing areas. But I love jumping at cross keys. But they have a big landing area... If you aren't feeling absolutely perfect about a jump, don't go. If you have any doubt its better to play it safe than sorry. For those rejected by ins. companies the only way to get ins. would be through an employer - but you may even get rejected then, as some state's allow a 'preexisting condition' clause. You may not be able to avoid a high risk plan at this point. I ran into this problem and was only able to get it through my work. Arianna Frances

Boston isn't called the walking city for nothing - everything you could want to see is walking distance and public transportation is FABULOUS and cheap. Food can be found almost anywhere and for cheap - if you go in late April/May you will catch us in a good time of year. Plus, if you can get over to Cambridge on the T you can score a ride with the MIT club out to Jumptown for jumps Can't help with the housing issue as I'm not too familiar with the hostels in the area, but I'm sure there are alot of options.
