  1. Go to FL, thats what all the cool kids do. I've had my best jumps in FL, no lie. the northeast boogie is in January at lake wales, good time to go! Arianna Frances
  2. Sorry, typo above, I have 15 mini DV tapes some are SP some are LP, I'm estimating the 20 hours... it'll probably be more Arianna Frances
  3. Ugh... thats what I was afraid of So much for having this all done for Christmas! WMM has alot of limitations on editing, which other programs are available (hopefully freeware as I'm broke). Thanks all, Jen Arianna Frances
  4. So I'm putting together an end-of-the-year DVD for my family as a holiday gift. I have 5 mini DVs full of video. I have had no problem using Windows Movie Maker to make short films (less than 5 min.) previously and it was fun. But now I'm having to capture ALL the film onto my hard drive prior to even getting to the editing phase - this will take 20 hours There has to be a better way... help! Jen Arianna Frances
  5. dude... that would be so much easier to read with switch/case statements. Probably faster too. JAVA rocks, seriously. I realize you're not going into programming when you are done, but it really does a better job logically than lots of other langauages, and you'd realize that if you were coding for a living. I miss JAVA some days Arianna Frances
  6. My daughter spit up in my face a few months ago - while I was smiling at her, so my mouth was open. I gagged and almost threw up... but breastmilk tasted sweet actually. Arianna Frances
  7. Totally agree. I'm trying to fight Toshiba to fix a charging circuit problem on a 6 month old laptop and they say its not there problem, where as the retailer we purchased it at is having to swallow the repair bills on them. They're getting screwed because of a faulty product. I will never buy another Toshiba Laptop. I have a Dell 1750, or is 1705... anyway, its for my work and its awesome. I have a compaq for my personal use (I'm using it now) and the only problem I have with it is that the touch pad is annoyingly placed in relation to the keyboard. When we replace my husbands Toshiba next year he'll be getting a Dell. I'm so mad for him that his Toshiba is a piece of shit - he saved up for months for that thing Jen Arianna Frances
  8. I've got a computer science degree, programming concentration. Career prospects are pretty good up here in the north east. I currently work as a .NET developer but I really like JAVA too. JAVA is in high demand and .NET is a close second (although ADO and ASP are higher, and I'm just learning them now). Positives: I can work from home. This really depends on the company though. My little girl has been sick alot this fall and I've been able to work from home. Negatives: I sit at a desk all day long... and as of late I've been doing the same boring debugging stuff to the same boring programming we've been developing for 2 years. But again, this is more to do with the company than anything. I want to last with this company for 18 more months and then see about a change. Good luck! Having a degree is always good, no matter what it is in. My husband works for the biggest investment company in the US and one of the fund managers has a degree (his masters) in French Literature. What can do you with a masters degree in French Literature? Become a multi-million dollar fund manager and drive a paid-in-cash BMW SUV Jen Arianna Frances
  9. For some reason I find this extremely funny Moderator was the LAST place I expected to see you Ian Congrats?... Jen Arianna Frances
  10. omg... what a poor dog. That stuff scares me to no end. Growing up a neighbor had the sweetest dog that used to eat EVERYTHING. He ate some twine from a package in our trash and it twisted around his intestine... he died on our front lawn In the owners defence, I really haven't a clue how many bottle nipples we have - but I'm sure its in the 20s. We don't leave them laying around though cause our cat likes to play with them... Arianna Frances
  11. Act your Wage. Its the only way to do it! 1. Don't take on debt, pay cash for everything. 2. If you don't have cash, don't charge, don't buy it. 3. Save for emergencies, before they happen 4. Plan for retirement 5. Save, Save, Save... Anyone can be a millionaire just on their salaries if they just stopped spending when they don't have it. I will be a millionaire one day, and have no debt to go with it... anyone can do it. Jen not a slam at your slappie, just happened to reply to you as you were the last response in this thread Arianna Frances
  12. I did the same thing 3 years ago, quit to go back to school full-time (rather than the part time I'd been doing for 4 years) and finish my degree. It was so danm fun to be back in school! Finished the degree, got a job and a $12,000 pay increase! Congratulations! Arianna Frances
  13. I'd be wearing of the validity of that site. A ticket in Attleborough, MA (border town to RI, where I live) got me a suspended license in RI. Arianna Frances

Out of all the programming languages I have had to learn over the years, JAVA remains my favorite. When you get a bit more experience, you'll see why Arianna Frances
  16. Good to know - thanks Rob! Arianna Frances
  17. His much older brother, an airforce alumni, is helping him with that. I think he was sure plumbing was out This is good! Thanks! How about a disposable camera? Would that be ok? Uh oh, why? Arianna Frances
  18. Just 2, and cried uncontrollably for almost an hour Jen Arianna Frances
  19. My 20 year old cousin was recently laid off from his job as a journeyman plumber. He's decided that he doesn't want to be a plumber anymore, but he doesn't know what he wants to do - so in the mean time he's decided to enlist with the Air Force. He only just saw the recruiter last week, but he's sure he's going to enlist. I don't know when he'll have to leave but I want to get him a 'good luck' gift, something he'll find useful while he's training and such. I figured many of you would have a good idea of what would be good for him, so I welcome any insight! Thanks! Jen Arianna Frances
  20. I saw the rockettes two years ago with my mom - matinee, 2 o'clock show. I wear jeans and a nice sweater. I think the standard is matinee - casual, not dumpy. Evening show - Business casual to Dressy. Don't bother packing nice clothes - those shows, no matter what time of day will have people in various states of dress anyway Jen Arianna Frances
  21. Due to personal experience, I can say 'yes' Arianna Frances
  22. Have you tried Harry & David's fruit cake... *wipes away drool*. I don't care what the description says, I swear it weighs about 10 lbs. and could break a coffee table. Its delicious! Arianna Frances
