  1. I'd love to go back to Costa Rica. The people were so friendly and the country was beautiful and it was so different from California, everything moved at a much slower pace. I really enjoyed the time I spent there and have been wanting to go back for a long time. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. We have a constant battle in my office. The guys turn the thermostat down and the women turn it up. The guys are always hot and the women are always cold. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  3. I'm having a shitty day! Spent most of the morning fixing someone elses mistakes. The other project assistant was out getting her passport so that she can go on her two week vacation (apparently when you're dating the boss you can take off all the time you want), so I had no help, everyone wanted everything NOW. And to top it off when I went to pick up the food for our weekly luncheon meeting, which I ordered yesterday and specifically told them I needed by 11:30, they hadn't even started the order. They apologized profusely and gave me a $10 discount, but lunch was 1/2 hour late. Luckily, I live a mile from my office, so as soon as I set up the luncheon I went home and now I am venting my frustration with this post and having a glass of wine.
  4. OMG, I feel so old . I was browsing antique stores with a friend recently and of course there were all kinds of things we remembered from our youth, including a manual typewritter. Another thing we saw was a 45 record player. Now if you used one of those you are really, really old. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  5. Are they all slackers over there on the left coast??!?!
  6. Congrats! There was a tandem cutaway at Perris on Saturday and the guy who told me about it was laughing saying that the student was totally unaware that they'd had a malfunction. I think if I was the student on my first tandem I probably wouldn't wanna know. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  7. I sometimes forget that it can be just as hard for fast falling people to fall slower since I've never had that problem. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  8. I just recently did 1 1/2 hours of tunnel time during a 4 way camp but we didn't do the speed drill. I'll have to try that next time I'm in the tunnel. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. [reply I used to jump on a 4-way team of all women. The best part about it was, I dialed in my skills with women of similar fall rates. I didn't have to wear much lead and my progression rocked by jumping with the same people and having goals, etc. Yeah, that's the thing, if I jump with people with similar fall rates I have no problem, can turn lots of points, but when I'm trying to match fall rates with someone I can't possibly catch up to the dive goes to hell and I get totally frustrated. 10. Although I have the jump numbers I don't think I have the experience, I have been a really slow learner. Yeah, we've got great people at Perris and when I'm ready I'll hook up with one of them. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  11. [reply Oh man...organizers would "love" you for doing that. LOL. They would probably love me for doing that rather than floating away like I do. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. [reply Start flying a wingsuit and set a world record. Wave it in the faces of the fastfallers every oppurtunity you get. Kris. I'm still a newbie, but would love to try a wingsuit when I am an experinced skydiver, like in a 1000 jumps or so. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  13. Yeah, I was thinking if I could learn to freefly I could just get into a sit or stand and get back down to the formation when I float away. I really like RW, but think maybe I'll need to do some freeflying to keep up. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

  15. Yaaay! Congratulations on your 21st! But don't think I want to jump with you! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. Off DZ landings don't necessarily have to be a bad thing. I had an off DZ landing when jumping with a coach (totally my fault, I was giving the count and had total brain lock - kept going in out in instead of out in out - finally my coach said just jump). Anyway my coach made it back but I landed out, but had a perfect stand up landing. I had gathered up my chute and was walking down the road when the truck came up with my coach and he said " I was worried about you". I had this big grin and said "I had a perfect landing". He just laughed. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  17. Quote Some good coaching might help you change your flying position to help you. i.e. flying mantis.[/reply Yeah, I've had a lot of coaching from a lot of different coaches. I learned the mantis position and even keeping my arms under my chest to eliminate drag helps some, but not enough. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

    Birth Order

I am the oldest of 3 kids. My brother and sister and their families live within a mile of my parents, while I'm 150 miles away. I visit once a month but my parents are more connected to my brother and sister and their families since they are so close. I've kind of jelous because my parents bought houses for my brother and sister and only bought me a jumpsuit. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  19. I love skydiving and will never give it up, but I am really frustrated because I am a lightweight (5'6, 115 lbs.) and it seems I keep getting paired up with heavy fast falling people and I am expected to match their fall rate. I have a tight, slick jumpsuit, 20 lbs. of weight, good arch, but I can't keep up. I'm going to have weights added to my rig and get a new jumpsuit with a ZP front. Hopefully that will help, if not I think I will only jump with people my size. Anyone else have this problem? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  20. 0:4:0 Fun but very frustrating cuz 3 out of 4 jumps were with fast falling people and I'm a light weight. I've gotta learn to fall faster Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  21. Landed in high winds. Don't know exactly what they were but non licensed jumpers were on wind hold. Pulled in a toggle and pulled and pulled, but still got dragged face down by my canopy. Crawled really fast onto my canopy and then sat there to keep it from going anywhere and was casually stowing the brakes and uncollapsing the slider when the truck came speeding up. Tim jumped out and ran up to me and said "are you okay?" I said "yeah, I'm fine". He said they thought I was hurt since I didn't get up after landing. I explained to him that I thought it was a good idea at the time to sit on my canopy. Guess not since I scared a lot of people. So just to let others know, this was new to me, don't sit on your canopy after landing, stand up to let people know you're okay. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  22. Mine says "I'd rather be Skydiving", which goes with my personalized plate "EV(heart)2FLY". I've seen cars with license frames that said "My other car is a Corvette". If I had a custom plate I've always thought it would be funny to have on my Corvette a frame that says "My other car is a (some kind of basic average car)" Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  23. Fortunately the DZ where I jump has a gear store with a great demo program. I was able to put down a deposit for new gear and jump with no rental fee for 6 mo./100 jumps, then the rental fee was only $50 per mo. till I ordered gear. Then once I ordered gear no more rental fee although I can keep demoing their gear until mine arrives (any day now). I was able to demo a lot of different containers and canopies, and downsize to a canopy that I will be happy jumping for many jumps. I decided on an Infinity container, Smart reserve & Pilot main. You really should demo and see what you like best. I've got the Aviator open face helmet and Oxygn full face. My jumpsuite is a Bev suit, which I love. I use a pro-track, mainly to keep track of my jumps and check my speed. As for weights, I use a weight belt (maxed out at 18 1/2 lbs.) AND I had weight pockets added to my rig so that I can add more weight. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

    Tattoo

That's great. I'm going to forward that to my husband. He's been talking about getting a tatoo for years and he's got the perfect head for that one . He'll probably be offended, but I'm used to offending him, not on purpose, but some people can be sooo sensative about their hair, weight, age.....
