  1. Hey Jef, I'll be there! Can't wait to see you
  2. 17 out of 20 - better than I thought I'd do
  3. That's awesome Lisa! So glad you met your goal, I know this means a lot to you. Looking forward to walking with you Sunday
  4. I just registered and my daughter is going to register also, so that's 2 more. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  5. Fantasy car is a Vette. Reality car is a Prius. Fortunately I have both but don't drive the Vette as much as I'd like to since use the Prius for commuting. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  6. The last time I had friends jumping tandem I just exited the plane before them and they thought that was way cool just seeing me jump out. Have fun! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  7. Just did my first jump with a tandem and loved it. Last time I had friends doing tandems I just exited before them and did a solo. So much more fun to actually be on the jump. Dove out right behind them and flew down to them. Very cool! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  8. Mine had to go to Germany too. Took awhile but came back with new software upgrades and I didn't have to pay extra for anything - postage, upgrades. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. Thanks for the article. Being an introvert myself I found it very interesting. Something I've always found amusing is people's reaction when they find out I skydive, which is typically "I would never have thought you were a skydiver". It used to really bug me, but now I've come to expect it. Funny though how people tend to think that someone who is an introvert would be less likely to participate in a sport like skydiving. 10. And it felt great! Just wanted to follow up on a previous thread I'd started about getting back in the air after a scarey mal, and I wanted to thank everyone who posted and offered support and encouragement. Although I wasn't able to follow up with the thread for long (my computer sucks), I did go back and read the posts when I was able to get back on and they did help a lot. Yesterday was beautiful at Elsinore and the 10 way speed meet was tons of fun, but the best thing was seeing my friends again and being welcomed back (I hadn't jumped for over 2 mos.) and told I'd been missed. I've always thought the best thing about our sport is the people, and once again you've confirmed it. THANKS EVERYONE! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  11. Just a little bit more info - we think the reason i had this mal was due the fact that I had recently changed to a bigger d-bag and had a new packer for Nationals. He thinks he may have switched the order of the closing tflaps of my rig, which normally wouldnt have made a difference but could have. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. Sure, no problem. Threw out my pilot chute, nothing happening, looked up, nothing, went for my cuttaway handle and pulled it but as I was pulling it was thinking, why the fuck am I pulling this when I have nothing out, so went for my reserve. Looked up to see a partially inflatted main, my reserve was just hangning there still in the bag and the bridle from my reserve pilot chute was wrapped around my left riser. I stuffed the reserve bag between my legs and was able to get enough slack on the reserve bridle to work it down the riser of my main to get it to fully inflate at about 200 feet before I landed in a cotton patch. I am thankful to be alive. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  13. Pretty much got back on the horse right away, so now have to get back on the horse again. I'll get there. Have already committed to a ten way team for a meet in a couple weeks. Should be good for me getting back into jumping. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  14. Had a very scary high speed mal, first round of Nationals. Knew I had to get back up in the air with my team so didn't really think about it. Now that Nationals are over and I have had time to think about how close I came to death I find that I am hesitant about jumping. Have only done one jump since Nationals. Was going to jump today (beautiful day in So Cal) but opted to stay home and play wii. Anyone else had this experience and can offer advice? 15. Does the size of the tunnel make much of a difference when learning to freefly? I'm considering learning to freefly at the iflyhollywood tunnel because it's close to where I live and they have a great discounted rate when you fly stand by during the week. But because the tunnel is so small I'm wondering if it would be more difficult to learn in. On the other hand it could be an advantage since I'd HAVE to learn not to backslide in a sit - my biggest problem . I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks! 16. When I was there last year they were doing high altitude jumps occasionally. Just wondered if they are still doing them. I'll be there next month and can only do one jump since traveling with a whuffo spouse, so would like to time it so I can do the high altitude jump if they are still doing them. And this time I will jump my own rig and not my friend Will's rig that was falling off (thanks Will, loved the jump but will love it more with my own rig). 18. Just got my Parachutist and was delighted to see the article about Andrea. Though we've never met Andrea, I feel I know you from these boards. Congratulations on your marriage and on the article in Parachutist. Your children are beautiful. My story is much like your's except that I didn't start skydiving until 50! Better late than never. Take care! Evelyn Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  19. You need to join a team. Then you are commited for the season and have to jump regardless of time/money constraints. And it is a lot of fun and you will improve your skills. Just a suggestion

Don't tell me. I've got it tevo'd to watch later . Actually no big deal, my husband is the one who is into it and he doesn't read these threads. Evelyn Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

  22. Hey Brandon, Sorry to hear that! Sucks being a doctor, huh? My team went to Eloy a couple weeks ago and did a couple hours training in the tunnel, awesome (Eloy tunnel is bigger than Perris tunnel so we could do all blocks). Hope work slows down for you so you can get more air time! Evelyn It is what it is. I just got my AFF so I'll have more jumping than I can shake a stick at when I am there. I had to take call this weekend so I could go to a wedding next weekend and then be off to the beach the two following weekends, so all is not lost. Good for you! Glad to hear things are going well for you. I still have fond memories of being roomates at the Eloy boogie and our awesome horney gorilla (maybe not so awesome to you since I wouldn't let go of your leg). Hope to see you again sometime. 23. Yikes!! Nothing worse than being geared up ready to jump and getting winded out. So sorry!! Evelyn Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

  25. Yeah!! That's the good thing, there's always next week! Team is training next weekend so I'll get lots of jumps, though hoping we can do extra jumps Sat. so I can do dinner with family for Father's Day. Congratulations on the graduation!
