  1. Where is Canada anyway?
  2. Thats kick ass man. I remember my first solo last fall....really neat feeling! congrats and good luck with the rest of your training...
  3. yea tell me about it. I feel so lucky. Their prices are unmatched. its like 27.98 an hour WETT for a 150.
  4. Well, this may be more of an answer than your looking for.. I used to go to akron on a free ride. I majored in physics..knewi wanted to be pilot but though i would benefit from the tech backround..plus it was free. I lost the free ride. So i figured id transfer to Kent State and major in aeronautics. better school...and god damn i swear 70% of the students there are female and hott as hell. But..i started my private at Skypark (www.flyskypark.com). Its better instruction (I think) and HELLA cheaper. I got my private for alittle over 2K....most places charge 6k. Kent State charges 6K PLUS tuition. But, im going to do my commercial and instrument at Kent. I figure if im going to spend time studying, it might as well be for pilot shit. plus its (ironically) easier to pay the 17K at kent for flight fees than the 5k it would take at skypark for the same ratings....because of student loans.... yea, if everything goes to plan ill have commerical and instrument by next summer. yeehaw.
  5. Congrats to you! Question is, did your examiner "teach" you anything during the checkride??? Buck Actually, he was very much oriented towards making it a learning experiance and i did learn some things. I was also nervouse as HELL and totally had a brain fart during the oral part...(weight and balance...got messed up)... but i dun care. Iknowi know the stuff and i passed so yay.
  6. I just passed my private pilot Oral/Practical checkride. say hello to a private pilot. yay for me.
  7. i saw it. its way long and i didnt think it was that good. there was a tbs miniseries called.. helen of troy. it was just as good as this one.
  8. I belive. I belive i can fly I believe i can touch the skyyy I think about it ev'ry night and day.....Spread my wings and fly away I believe I can soar.....See me running through that open door I believe I can fly....I believe I can fly.....I believe I can fly oh.. uhhh
  9. ya bill, it was great meeting you!
  10. ugggh. I will probably get it by just reading your post title. I swear the stuff is my Achilles heel. I always go to the doctor the min i see any of it develop. If i get it soon, it never gets worse and gets better quickly. If i wait... fortunately when i mountian bike i wear gators, and i havent gotten it in years.
  11. Is there a paragliding canopy that can withstand the opening shock of a skydivers deployment? Although I do like to go fast with my canopy, I am also interested in flying it for longer on each jump. I am wondering why skydiving canopies are trimmed with such a steep glide angle and whether or not there are any paragliding canopies out there that are made to be deployed after a skydive.
  12. I did my first x-country a week or two ago. I made the DZ fine, but was too afraid of not making it back to unstow my toggles and play. Instead i just tried to focus on the sensation of floating up there..so high, all alone (okay there were 7 of us, but they were pretty far away). At 10k i saw a bonanza about 3k below me...pretty neat. you can also see the coastline of lake erie (jumping at aerohio)...again, pretty neat. oh yea, and i had no problem with being confortable under canopy or needing padding or anything...after about 5min my legs fell asleep
  13. yea, when looked at from a simple "whatever is fun" attitude, I wouldnt mind being a jack of all disciplines and master of none. But, I want to do AFFI. So I must be awesome on RW to do that. anyways, Im going to focus on getting prep'd for camera flying. This gives me A-an excuse for splitting my time between RW and FF and B- allows me to focus on being a "total body pilot". going this route wont make me ready for AFFI at 500jumps, but thats ok. I have a goal (camera) and I will have fun getting there. yeehaw. ive made 50 jumps in the last 3 months...and im not slowing down. I have set out these goals GoalA-HAVE FUN Goal1-250 jumps by december goal2-USPAcoach course in december goal3-start messing around with camera during the winter. goal4-first paid camera jump by August2005. or somethign lilke that
  14. Oh, and id also like to say (not that anyone cares, im really just talking to myslef here ) that ive decided to split my time between RW and FF. I want to be a total body pilot, and although this is a much slower road to competency (if you split your efforts between two disciplines), I believe that in the long run, I will be a much better skydiver and will be having more fun. later peeps.
  15. Skydiving in general 1 - do it to be cool and part of an 'in' crowd. See you later when you quit the sport in 50 jumps - hack diver with ego issues. Enjoy your bowling and card clubs. 2 - do it for themselves. These are real skydivers and they'll love the sport and get better I think thats true. And, If I am completly honest with myslef, I think that, at least in part, I started skydiving for the wrong reasons. Fortunately thats a small part, and I believe i have since outgrown this. Dont ask me to identify the "wrong reason"...id be to embarrased to state it. Make no mistake, im in this for the long haul though
  16. Yea, well, I just shelled out 276.00 to fix my truck that broke down on the way to the dz this afternoon. There goes the RW suit money. heh. My sit is rock solid. I think im just going to maintain that and move to RW for a few hundred jumps. I want AFFI
  17. Just want to hear some options on doing freefly AND RW. I really want to be a total body pilot and be able to fly at an intermediate level on both RW and FF. Im just afraid of spreading myself too thin, and wake up one morning with 6 or 700 jumps and realizing that because i split my efforts on both disciplines, that I basicly suck at both. yea yea yea, ask your local instructors yada yada yada. I will, but im bored now and I dont keep any instructors at my house so id like to hear what yall think. keep in mind that I want to be an AFF I. later peeps.
  18. I bought a new hornet 210 a few months ago. I coudlnt be happier witwh it. you will love it. Great openings , awesome flair, and wicked turns up high. Of course i came from a big manta student, but still...im sure you will be happy with it. packs easy too.
  19. I bought a brand new hornet off of call ralph for 1,150. awesome openings and great canopy.
  20. I promise never to ask that of you. Can I have a free rig? Oh wait, does that mean i dont "get it"?
  21. See USPA IRM, especially page (16 of 27), section A.4.. That talks about AFF. See 12 of 17, #2 a and b about the privliges of coaches . This is highly commendable, and is in large part what this sport is about. However, you do not need a rating of any type to do this.. You do at a USPA dropzone... . See the url above, especially page (6 of 27). Respectfully, you have quite a ways to go before you are really qualified to coach any discipline.. I appreciate your cander, and I realize this.
