  1. No, what has happened is that bush has said using the pill is having an abortion. he is setting back womens health rights by years. He has been chipping at the womens right to choose ever since he has got into office, this is just another example. He would like to see a federal ban on abortion and with this redefinition that would include a ban on the pill. This is the thin end of the wedge, thank god he is going to be out of office before he has time to get that far. So when the law says its' OK to have an abortion you're good with that, but when it says you can't discriminate against those with a different view that's a problem. Just wanted to make sure I had your priorities straight. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  2. It's standard skydiving industry CYA S.O.P. I don't know why your so surprised by this. Sigh. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  3. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=3268106;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; Why all the secrecy? I'm concerned with the level of BS from some of the parties involved. From the post...What has me upset is that when we found out about the incident and asked what had happened we were stonewalled by all parties at the dz including our pilot. In fact the NTSB stated in a letter that "the certificate holders have not been informed" of the circumstances leading to the incident. Apparently the stonewalling was apparent to them as well. Nobody wanted to step up and take the blame here. After about 2 dozen posts it becomes obvious the pilot got a little agressive after the exit and did $50K worth of damage. If it weren't for the muscles of the passenger we'd probably be reading about total destruction of the aircraft and it's occupants. There's more doubletalk in this thread than any I've recently read. Example...As one of the aircraft owners, I think that you are right on point. I do not agree with Mark above and have less confidence in the DZO and pilot that our aircraft will be flown in a safe, proper manner at all times. I believe this incident was caused by poor jujdgement of everyone involved and there better not be another at the dz. The pilot could have easily lost the plane and 3 lives. Then, from the same poster this The pilot, who works for us, is a capable pilot with an impeccible record who I feel has learned a very valuable lesson from this incident. He goes on to say Although we do not know with 100% confidence what actually happened, we are confident we have determined what transpired and have an assurance that it will not happen again. Either you know or you don't. Am I missing something here? As jumpers we place alot of faith in not only the abilities of the PIC, but his judgement as well. Sometimes I wonder if we're getting our money's worth. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  4. Just a convenient excuse to not jump. She really doesn't want to, but likes saying she does but can't. Seen it hundreds of times. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

We're learning that, while she loves the cut up hot dogs used as rewards, they give her the shits something fierce. We're trying string cheese this week. Please don't dent the planet. 11. Not twisting anything Dave. I asked you a straightforward question. I'll ask you again. When the FAA or some other governmental body decides that leaving an airplane in flight for any other reason than it being on fire is too risky you'll be OK with that? You see, I've never questioned whether seat belts are a good idea...we all know they are. My problem is who makes that decision for me. And it's a bigger issue than seatbelt use. It's creeping in slowly every day. Small people in gov't making new rules every day to justify their existance. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  12. I'm not. But we got along without it for years. And I'm not seeing a corresponding decrease in jump aircraft fatalities because of it. It's a good idea that hasn't had much of an effect. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  13. The thing is though, seatbelt use does effect the general public. That effect is typically more moneys spent, not just in taxes, but also in insurance rates. It also costs persons money else where. There are losses in revenue due to slowed and rerouted traffic. A fatality accident will shut down that roadway for a minimum of 2 hours typically. A major accident (one that involves any sort of injury) can shut down a roadway for a minimum of 30 minutes. Basically my point is that when it comes to transportation, there is no such thing as an individual risk. It effects the general public, the local economy and society as a whole. You condone gov't mandated safety? So when the FAA says skydiving/parachuting/swooping is too dangerous and should be controlled/outlawed you'll be OK with that? Certainly there's a cost every time somebody augers. I'd just as soon not have the government telling me how I'm allowed live my life thank you very much. Please don't dent the planet. 14. Taking it out on the police is flawed. they inforce the laws, they don't make them. and they do not have arbitrary rights over which to enforce. I think they have lost the ability to use common sense. And they do have arbitrary rights over which ones to enforce. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3259398;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Flash back to just out of high school...late 70's. We were in one of the metro parks that surround Cleveland. Playing loud music and getting high. Turn around and here's the ranger. Long story short he destroyed our bong, made us put the weed into a puddle and proceeded to mix it in the mud, and told us to get out. That would never happen today. Please don't dent the planet. 15. Not questioning the value...I don't think anyone could debate that. I'm questioning the increasing presence of those who feel it's their responsibility to make those decisions for us. Think it's not a problem? When do they decide that skydiving is too dangerous? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  16. Saturday night we went out on the local lakes in a party barge to watch fireworks. Yes it's a State Park. There were multitudes of park police in their little boats handing out tickets for having alcohol on board. They even had night vision binoculars to use for busting people. I mean what is the intent? We were having a good time, being safe, not bothering anyone or getting stupid. The "capt." of our barge wasn't drunk but we had to sneak our drinks. I felt like a criminal and that's just wrong. 17. There's no doubt in anyone's mind that wearing the belt is safer. Having an AAD is safer. Not smoking, keeping your weight down, minding your cholesterol is safer. My concern is the gov't mandating to me. Where does it end? How long will it be until we're so squeezed by rules and regs that the "land of the free" is no more. This weekend was our 232nd birthday as a nation. Still a huge experiment and the jury is still out on whether it will work. I don't believe the founding fathers meant for the gov't to be this involved in people's lives. I drove from Canton to Cincy on Friday. A 4 hour drive. I passed 6 or 7 packs of troopers handing out citations. I call it fund raising. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  18. Pretty soon you'll be telling me I have to buy an AAD Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  19. Unlike others here I got pulled over Friday. 68 in a 60. They let the ticket slide but I had to donate $58 to the authorities because I wasn't wearing a seat belt. In Ohio you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet but you can't drive without your seatbelt. Anyways, I've always had a problem with this particular law. If I choose to be stupid and not wear a seatbelt that should be my personal choice. Wish the gov't would get out of my business. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  23. When a group of obviously well-educated and intelligent people like those of you who've been discussing this can't reach a consensus it lends credence to my theory that we just don't know for sure. We have the "GW is caused by humans" crowd...and the "GW is not caused by humans" crowd". The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
