  1. Would DZ owners count as jumping for free? UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  2. Just reading the description of skydiving on that website, apparently there are 30000 BPA members (does that include students? at the AGM they said we only had 5390) and a crap quote: 'It's better than a bungy because you freefall at 200mph. You get a sense of freedom and pride.' Jo Wallace Speedy. Silly BBC UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  3. Personally I think they should combine 6 and 7 UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  4. Racism Happens. Im from Birmingham! UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  5. AFAIK porters are very common in france (arnt they made there) and whats wrong with them? they're fast and have enough room for any of the events. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  6. We have a girl in our club who is 5'2 and she came through raps. Our club has nothing smaller than 280/260s for students so there were a few jumps where she even had trouble stearing and anther when she fliped on her back and cos the rig was so big she couldnt get back over . But she eventually got her cat 8 and has no trouble keeping up with anyone (shes nearly sunk on me before). But she had trouble getting 2nd hand kit so had to buy new. Nearly tracked out the hire kit once (fury 220s) and Im sure you could fit through the hole between the rig and her back when she arches. Shes fine now shes got her own rig. 7. AFAIK there must be no reserve rides at all (includes collisions) Also, it has to be all out, all in. So with this upcomming 328 way attempt (or however many) even if they get 327 in with one person sinking, and no reserve rides it doesnt count as a record. 8. How about 10 way speed UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  9. Yup, always wears a student raggy old thing and tapes it up. Long blonde hair and the biggest pair Ive ever seen. You may have heard the phrase "Free the Durham 2" chanted around/about her UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.

  12. In this country (UK) you're not allowed to jump pull out untill you got a C licence (200 jumps). PS, alot of people keep refering to throw-away PC as BOC. all BOC means is Bottom of Conatainer, and you can have BOC ripcords or BOC pullouts aswell as BOC throw away. Other positions are ROL (rear of leg) that people used to use before BOC became popular. And again you can have ROL throw away or ripchord. They like to teach people who are coming through RAPS at my dz ROL to start with because it can reduce hard pulls. All AFF is taught on BOC though. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  13. Other bullshit I can remember: In ER when Dr Greene is dying, he says he wants to do a parachute jump. For his first jump he does a solo, last out the plane, lovely dive to pin, nice body position, uses a throwaway then comes in to land doing a beautiful carved swoop landing. Wish I could do that on my first jump. Also, from what I can remember of Erasure, Arnie jumps out a plane at about 500', deploys a round using the cutaway handle and lands wonderfully accuratly on top of a car. Some wierd distortion of reality going on here. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  14. I have no idea how long you have been in the sport, but Id have thought that there will be people around that jumped in the 70s and 80s with no AADs that lost altitude awareness and managed to get their reserve out by 100, 200ft whatever, just like a cypres. If those people had been permanently grounded, Id think thered be fewer really experienced people around.... which would be a great loss to the sport. Maybe the top instructors/coaches in 10 yrs time will be the people who have cypres fires today. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  15. We once had a first time s/l student standing on the step of the 182. When the instructor shouted "GO!!" he looked back in and said "What.. Now?!!" UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  16. In this country I have never ever seen a pilot wear a bail out rig. Even the few experience skydivers that fly. The best skydiver pilot also leans out the door while flying the 182 to spot UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  17. Assume the cypres had been turned on on the ground at the dz where Im gonna get out... I would. Think of all the new kit and jumps you could get with that. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  18. If you dont convert, you'll have one hell of a time trying to find 2nd hand kit, So you'll probably have to buy new. Also what happens if you drop the ripchord? Only problem with throw out is if you get lazy with it or dump infront of your arm. But its def worth using. Remember you're not allowed to jump a pull-out until you got a C-licence, but again that kind of equipment is harder to find 2nd hand. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  19. I have a question: Im really interesting in being really good at RW. Im also interesting in doing Skysurfing and flying a wingsuit, but freefly hasnt really appealed to me that much (probably cos of my rig, and tbh Ive never tried FF) Are most skysurfers FFers? I know you need good FF skills before you can do it, but is it strange for me to be more interested in SS than FF? I know I have no where near enough jumps, and not the right kit for it, so I wont be starting any time soon. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  20. Cos all this skydiving kills our brain cells (the beer). And I saw Cyprus for sale over the weekend for only £480. Nearly took the offer up UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  21. Any chance that the dz you're changing to is peterlee in the UK? UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.

  23. Well done. What time did you do it cos I left about 4 yesterday (sunday) after doing 6 out the skyvan over the weekend. But couple of beer fines for me: First skyvan First tracking dive (18 way for someones 200th, WOW) Thanks to langar, what a great boogie. And special thanks to the people organising the tracking dive letting me and my friend on, and weed for the video. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  24. We have at least 1 pilot I know can give you a perfect spot, in cloud, without GPS. He uses the radio beacon distances or something to work out where he is. Very nice. UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
  25. Its not a myth but a question I get asked alot when recruiting is "What happens if both your parachutes fail?" I would have thought the answer was fairly obvious UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
