  1. Nice Pictures! I love close ups of flowers. I tried myself; hope you don't mind if I join the party. I took these with my Canon Powershot A560. It's a point and shoot. The first picture was taken at Balboa Park in San Diego and the rest were taken at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The last 2 are my favorites. They look good at full size too... kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
  2. PJ was always good for a laugh or a packing tip. Thanks for taking a (nervous) friend of mine on a tandem, which she loved. Blue skies PJ. You will be missed. Sincerest condolences to all family and friends. P.S. PJ, thanks for introducing me to Steve. kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
  3. Thanks. I sent the abstract to some of the people that I work with and they all got a laugh out of it. Thanks for posting it.

  5. Well, some of us chemists are in a lab all day. Need to make it interesting in some way. What journal was that in, BTW (JACS?)? Thanks - kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

  9. Abso-freaking-lutely. It's not Christmas until I've seen it or listened to it (it's on my iPod as well - and I listened to it on my way home from Thanksgiving dinner). But, I must say that the "Light the lamp, not the rat!" part from The Muppets Christmas Carol cracks me up. Every single time. kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

    RENT, the movie

My sister and I saw Rent, the movie last night (we've never seen the theater show). We turned to each other about 30 seconds after the first song ended and said this is bad (as in not good as a movie). I'm sure that it has got to be much better in the theater. I was counting the minutes until it was over. I thought that the cast was very good and the music was fantastic, but they should never turn plays into movies. There's something about it that just doesn't work for me. My sister thinks that it is because I couldn't/didn't accpet it as a "musical" rather than a movie with singing. She liked it. I was bored, and yes, I have seen other musicals in theater (not movies) and liked them. But, hey, to each their own. kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

  13. Sara was one of the nicest sweetest people you'd ever meet. Every time I made it down to CK we'd try to find a minute to chat (and usually did). She always had a huge smile on her face and you couldn't help but smile with her. I'm going to miss seeing her at CK. It just won't be the same. My deepest sympathies go out to you, Yonothan and Sara's family and all who knew and loved her. I did not know Ron, but my sympathies go out to all who knew and loved him as well. I'm so sorry. kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
  14. Kitty - You memory serves correct as far as names go. But, this is a different Sara than the Sarah that was on TLC. BSBD. kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

  17. Stacy - I agree! I went to La Salle University for undergrad and that involved driving through Temple's campus to an area worse than University City and almost as bad as Temple! Cars were always getting stolen and we had quite a few muggings. When we went out, we went to the suburbs - it was safer! I liked living in Center City, though. The Rittenhouse Square/Fitler Square area is gorgeous! Too bad my apartment wasn't...and neither were the other tenants. Hearing Eric Clapton's Cocaine at volume 11 at 2 am is not nice. kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
  18. I think that you nailed it on the head. It is incredibly boring up here. I go from living in the middle of the bustling city to living in what feels like to middle of nowhere! It's always boring and what few things there are to do around here are at least 15 minutes away. And, to top it off, I am 1 hour and 10 minutes away from Cross Keys and that's without the beach traffic! and there aren't any DZs closer to me (and I love CK). Mmmmm, Tastykakes! Peanut butter kandy kakes are the best! At least I can still get them up here, but WaWa is too far away.... kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
  19. Damn, I miss Philadelphia! I lived in the Fitler/Rittenhouse Square area for 4 years (Sept 2000 to May 2004 - I was a grad student at Penn). Now that I have gotten a real job and moved to the Central Jersey 'burbs, I miss Philadelphia. Oh and for the record - I only had a convenient dollar store for the last 2 years of my stay...now I have none. I miss Philadelphia! kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
  20. Yep - I've been to the past 3! 2002 - made my first tandem (didn't know it was the season opener boogie then) 2003 - yep - a blast, all of the big planes come back 2004 - well, the jumping was good. If the weather is good, there will be tons of people there, because all of the aircraft are back! There will probably be lots of people there even if the weather isn't that great. Cross Keys always throws a good party afterwards as well. Unfortunately, I won't be there this year, as we are heading down to Florida. But, I will be there most other weekends! Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this year! kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

    Wicked

I just saw the musical this weekend myself and I just don't agree with you (though a lot of the people I saw it with do). I was so bored during the first act that I took a nap! I liked the way the story was tied to the Wizard of Oz and some of the lighting effects, but that's about it for me. I couldn't understand what Glinda was saying or singing (the band either drowned her out or the mic wasn't picking her up very well) and I thought that the band was a bit too loud. I did like the set up of the theater, which really provides a great view of the stage from most places in the theater. I sat all the way at the top and all the way to the side. It's funny - I like seeing the opera, where people can easily sing about the same thing for 10 minutes and I didn't like Wicked. It did look like fun to be a flying monkey though! kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"

  23. The dark spots are the grass. He cleared about 12" of snow. I saw the last 10 feet or so of that landing. It was people gasping pretty loud on the deck. He hit, bounced and then landed on his feet. He was very lucky, but he didn't stay much longer after that... kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
