I overheard a JM this weekend explaining to a new A guy how to do one. He said that he puts his hands out in front of him like he is gripping a steering wheel, then act as though you turn the wheel really fast, and also use your waist for torque. And I quote "it flips you right around". No, never. There isn't a roller coaster on this planet that I would ride and get sick on. I'm starting to think it's more a combination of adreneline and dehydration. I had nothing but two glasses of milk to drink that morning. That'll probably screw you up pretty bad right there. Does anyone else get nauseous when they skydive? I made my second jump this weekend, and felt like I was going to puke for about two hours after the jump. Is this normal? If so, what can I do to help it? For the record, I took some Dramamine before my third jump, and didn't have a single problem. I don't think it was so much the "motion sickness" that made me sick after number two, as much as it was the nerves from line twists, a bad landing, etc. I just wanted to know if anyone else gets naseous after they jump. I just got into work this morning, and about dropped a nut. If skydiving is banned at all federally funded airports, I must ask, what airports are federally funded? My DZ in little Goshen Indiana isn't one of them, is it? I'll be fisted if I can't jump this weekend. Someone who knows more about how aviation and the FAA works, let me/us know what constitutes as a "Federally Funded Airport". Thanks a mil. Mad, that's awesome, good work. I'm a novice, and have no clue how much, if any an effect skydiving is going to take on my life in the future. But I can tell you already that after just one jump, everything in life seems smaller/simpler/easier, and I can't stop looking at the sky. Ah, I can't wait for the weekend. Where can you order these things? Also, I only have one jump (by the end of this weekend I'll have like 5 or 6, fyi). So is it like bad-form for a newbie to wear these things? I don't want to wear one if there is some unspoken rule against wearing them until you have a license or something like that. Don't need any weird looks from the veterans at the DZ. A couple newbie questions: I'm very interested in Wingsuit-Flying some day. I've only made one jump (making several more this weekend). Edit: When I say "one jump" I mean just that, "one jump". Not one Wingsuit jump. Anywho: How many skydives had you made before your first Wingsuit dive? Also, how hard would you say it is to stay stable while flying with a Wingsuit? I enjoy reading some stories that people post here and there about skydiving, but it's hard to find one exact place to read that stuff. So if you wouldn't mind, entertain us with your best skydiving story. Haha...I'm 6'5" 165 pounds, redish-brownish hair that I can frey up just like Cosmo, and I'm clumsier than a pre-pubesent girl. I like my chances :) Maybe after I get my license we'll run into each other at some big-boogie or something. Interesting thread. Sure, skydiving isn't safer than driving. But if you look at deaths per participant, it is safer than Hot Air Balloon rides, SCUBA Diving, Bungee Jumping, and Hangliding. So yeah, it's a dangerous sport.
