  1. I go to Ball State University (Indiana), and was wondering if anyone who reads these boards knows of a skydiving club here. I've heard rumors that there is one, but have never seen any documentation proving as much. If any students or alumnis of Ball State have any info on this, let me know...but I'm not holding my breath on seeing a reply in this thread, it's just a shot in the dark. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  2. Damn! Just a vision of something like that has scarred me for life! :) -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  3. Does anyone know if/how many people had to go under reserve for the successful 300-way record at Skydive Chicago? Just kinda curious if all 300 had a cut-free jump. Thanks. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  4. I just got into this sport a few months ago, so I wasn't around to see 9-11's effects on the sport of skydiving. For those of you who were jumping two years ago, enlighten some of us on some of the things skydivers went through during this time period. Thanks. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  5. I always am curious when I see a pilot taking a load up wearing a rig. I usually ask the pilot if they've ever made a jump, or if they even know what to do if they have to jump. They usually reply with "No, and No". So I was wondering if pilots have to go through any training whatsoever on learning how to fly a canopy. Also, if anyone has any stories of pilots who have bailed...entertain us. (Provided they have happy endings). -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

    Anyone Golf??

Thats me in a nutshell. I used to golf about 100 times per summer, this summer, I started skydiving...golfed twice. It just seems boring now. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  7. I've done my five student jumps from my Single-Plane DZ's 182. I suppose I don't really mind it. On my first jump, it was the first time I'd been in a small plane, and it was a little bumpier than I would've expected, but all's well that ends well. Is this standard? At my DZ, they make the students hold onto the wing (or strut) before we jump. Hold on, let go. That's it. Even after you're off the static line you have to do that for about your first 15 jumps, and I don't like it! -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  8. Hey man, I don't know your situation and what-not, so this may not be do-able. But why don't you just lose weight? If you weigh 300 pounds, there is a better chance than not that you aren't in the best physical condition, so lose weight. You'll live longer, and you'll get to skydive (which may result in you not living very long) . -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  9. Has anyone ever lived through a double mal? What's the most astonishing skydiving story you've heard, where the person did end up living? -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  10. Define "bounce" in the context of skydiving. I've heard this term, but know not entirely of it's meaning. Thanks. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  11. 40 in one day?!? Wow! Congrats man. So give is the logistics of how that went down? Were there just 40 rigs on the ground ready for you to jump or what? Who organized this? How much did it cost you? Etc.... Very interesting accomplishment, good work. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  12. I went head down the other day! Of course it was as I was spinning out of control searching for my ripcord, but I kid you not, I watched the video, and I was headdown for a good half second. It's an easy discipline. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

  14. I'm sure there's some Tandem Master who has slipped it in the backdoor on some college girl looking for a good time under canopy. But in freefall, I'd put my chips all in on "no". -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  15. You know, I'm geniuenly sorry that this woman's son died. That is awful, and no mother should have to experience the feeling of knowing she outlived one of her own children. That said, this woman can go fuck herself. She's taking vengence out on a sport and a group of people for her son's death. Well guess what lady, your son died because he was too stupid to steer a canopy...something several thousand people in this country do every weekend without a problem. Maybe she should've written a book about how her piss-poor son couldn't execute a simple task that would save his life. I get so pissed off at people who take up causes simply for revenge, or their own personal agenda. I get pissed off at a celebrity who finds out they have MS, then all of the sudden goes on this big "Find A Cure For MS" campaigne. They didn't give a shit about it before, but now that they have it, it's a big deal. Same thing with this woman, only a little different. Don't buy her book, she can have my $20 and shove up her ass. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  16. Ever since I was a little kid, I've told myself "On my 21st Birthday, I'm skydiving". Well, I couldn't wait that long, went a few weeks ago at the age of 19. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, if you're going to be in Angola, it's certainly not going to hurt to drop by the DZ some morning to see if it's worth your time. If you're gonna be there for a while, and you get bored, stop by the ISA in Goshen, open 7 days a week, I think you'd like it there. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

I've heard of it, although I have never been there, I haven't really heard anything great about it either. The best DZ in Indiana is Skydive Wayne County (or Skydive Richmond). But that's a pretty long drive if you're in the Fort Wayne area (what, like two hours straight down I-69?...I guess it could be worse). You might want to try Indiana Skydiving Academy (edit: it's in Goshen), that's my DZ. It's nice...small...but quickly growing. Only about 45 minutes from Fort Wayne depending on how fast you drive. Good luck. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  21. Everytime I leave these forums, I get signed off automatically. Even if I check the "Stay logged in" box when I sign in, as soon as I drift to another page, it signs me out. It's sorta a pain to have to sign in every single time I come back to these boards (which is quite often). Does anyone else have this problem? If so, is there anything I can do about it? Thanks guys. Nice forums sangiro, best I've found on the net (and not just for skydiving). -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  22. Do you guys know anything about the difficulty/requirements of getting into these other demo teams in the other branches? I like knowing the Navy has one. I'd rather join the Navy than the Army, no offense. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  23. Ron, awesome reply. I really appreciate it. So long as we're talkin, would you classify it as "hard" to get into the Golden Knights? Like, roughly what percentage of people who try out actually get in? Oh, also, are the GK simply a demo team, or are they trained for combat too? Thanks again for the great response. Anyone else got any advice? -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  24. I am a 19 year old college student majoring in Criminal Justice. In a few years, once I have my degree, I am considering joining the military for four years to boulster my resume for trying to get into the FBI. Since taking up skydiving, I've been wondering if I would like doing it in the military, which leads me to ask a few questions: 1.) Do you think that jumping in the military would make me lose my passion for skydiving? Like, would it turn from a hobby into more of a job? 2.) Take something like the "Golden Knights" or a squad of equal prestige. Can you just get right into a group like that with only 100 or so civilian jumps? Anyone who has been in the GK, let me know what the entry requirements/standards are for such a thing. 3.) What would you do? Do you recommend jumping in the military in one way or another? Anyone who has jumped in the military, your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Of course, so are the thoughts of you civilians too.
