  1. Well, actually, PD does not sell any reserves that have coated lines. Even on those made currently
  2. Way too many possibilitys to list here Sent you a PM
  3. I've seen a DZ use a tandem rig as a student rig before. Tandems are rated high enough for big ol boys. The trick will be find a DZ that will do that for you. Don't worry though, I am 6'3 265 and I do just fine.
  4. Could be that the canopy once had dacron lines and spectra was wanted by the new owener. I've seen that done before
  5. If I had to guess I'd say the reasoning behind making the Soft housing VS buying hard housings is purely economic. If they make their own housings, the profit margin goes up. Granted not by all that much, but if you add that savings to all the other possible savings during production, then multiply that total times the number of rigs built, it begins to add up. In addition to the cost benefit, the manufacture also avoids the inevitable delays associated with receiving the hard housing from the supplier. this results in faster production times per unit and happy customers who receive their gear on time or early, which equals more sales and on and on.
  6. Heres a little known fact about RI soft housings. The RI soft housings received a bad rap along with the soft housings from SunPath even though (to my knowledge) the RI housings never had any of the same or similuar problems that some jumpers had with the Sun Path style soft housings. According to Sandy Reid, RI switched to the hard housing as a result of fears by the consumers. Not actuall incedents in the field.
  7. (To me the ultimate satisfaction would be to sew a whole rig together and take it over a cliff and be confident enough about my skills to trust my life on it! Now that would be satisfying!!!) the first time I jumped a rig that I made, I stood at the edge for what must have been an hour mentaly disecting the rig on my back. The process went something like this... "did I remember to properly attach the vertical piece of the harnes to the lateral piece around the waist??? Yea, I remember doing that." And on it went untill I had gone over the entire rig building process. I'll never forget how good It felt looking back up at the cliff I had just jumped from and thinking, "I guess Mom was right, I can do anything I put my mind to"
  8. Just thought I'd mention to all those who visit it the thread link in the last post. Sewing is the best thing I have ever learned how to do. I became good enough at sewing so that I didn't have to get a real job for almost 12 years. Of course, eventually sewing turned into a real job but thats beside the point. There is virtually no product made using sewing machines that I "need" to buy. I just make it. If my P/C wears out, I just make a new one. Cost? A couple of bucks. If My BASE rig gets dirty, I just make a new one for around $500.00 less than I can buy one. If I need a custom, one of a kind James Bond style back pack, I just make it. My advice to any one is, find the patience, learn how to sew, or weld, or wood work, or what ever. Make things. Be creative. Don't wait or pay for some one to make it for you when the satisfaction of creating something your self is only a short time away.

O.K. I'll argue with you. Your funny looking and your feet smell
  10. All I need is one parachute, a helmet, a good pair of hiking boots and some knee pads. Oh yea, a little altitude is nice as well
  11. Success. I've been at it for a while performing the mod that my buddy told me about and I have to say thank you to everyone who gave me input. You all just save me from having to buy a new wing suit. Now the suit fits great. I'll take some pics and post them later. Thanks again. Kevin
  12. I got a great idea from someone. My suit has the single zipper on the front and that make it difficult to get in and out of. My buddy suggested that I add two more zippers starting at the knees and terminating at the collar. this he says will make it much easier to get in and out of. I've taken a look at some pics of the classic II ( I have the the classic I) and I think doing this mod will be no problem. While adding the zippers, I can also add just a bit of material to each side of the new zippersl and that should give the suit the extra room I need. Hows that sound to you?
  13. Your dead wrong about controlling any one. That my friend will never happen
  14. Thanks. Kevin922 Just got in touch with me with this info and I've placed a call and I'm awaiting his response
  15. I agree with you. what I was referring to was standardizing teaching standards. Not regulations. I guess I could have been more clear
  16. Yes it would be a good idea but will be extremely difficult to make happen. Ever heard the expression herding cats?
  17. thanks. I found him and I am waiting for a reply
  18. Stupid question time. How do I find him to PM him?
  19. I'm Looking for someone skilled in making Bird man suit alterations. I got a phat deal on a used suit but it's juuuuuust a bit to tight. I have sent an e-mail to the manufacture and I am awaiting their reply but in the mean time, if I can find some one out there who can do it, do it well, and do it quick, that'd be bitchin. I'd do it my self but honestly, I'm not that skilled at making suit alterations. Any help? Thanks Kevin
  20. First let me say that I have no idea how much work it would be to discover the trends but I wonder if RH would be so kind to consider taking a look. If so, that would be cool. Do you know him well enough to ask?
  21. This may have been asked and answered already and if so sorry for the repeat. It seams that there has been a substantial up surge in the number of people receiving their BASE numbers and I’m curious if any one has any real data that shows when this up surge actually began and, has it slowed down any and if so when.
  22. Over ten years away and counting. BASE#390
  23. I've seen what he is talking about and if the set up is correct, a premature deployment is not possible while wearing the helmet. The P/C stowes up in the "roof" of the helmet and when the head is in it, it is a very very tight fit. Unless you have a helmet that has lots of extra room in it, then it may not be possible to retro fit your helmet with a P/C
  24. I just thought about something. Are you talking about the Swift Plus reserve or the Swift 5 cell? there is a big difference between them and the Swift Plus is a MUCH better canopy
