  1. I heard from Miles a few weeks ago after his 1700th base jump ever. He's good.
  2. oh yeah the cutaway deal is sweet. The super uber duper sick magic sleeve that matt wimmer and I designed is pure brilliance, and simple as hell I can give you dimensions etc...
  3. the streamlined ones work fine, but they are just a touch more dificult to manage and they are pretty snug around the ring thingies. stealth ones cover everything while leaving all the stuff on your shoulders with a relaxed feel, and the streamlined ones are just a little more material than necessary and that might get in the way or just be more to get out of the way when checking stuff.. shit i dunno just personal preference OK LEAVE ME ALONE GEEZ!
  4. personal preference that's all.

"i'll be free any nights" night jumps??? Who the hell is jumpng at night in NorCal?? good luck buddy
  9. S fly is good. i like that i dont have to hold on to anything while flying and that the wings are not so big, so you can still pull easily from BOC. I also like the fact that with the leg wing still zipped you can run and walk easily. I cutaway the arm wings every single base jump. This is faster than unzipping and since just one handle pulls em both, and you dont have to worry about unzipping the leg, it is just simple: pitch, swing thru, cutaway, steer. I had my rigger make an extra cutaway cable in case I ever drop the cable. S-fly may tend to get smoked by a vampire on a distance flight, but it is all the pilot. some rule in S fly, some suck in any suit. then again some flights are distance flights and you might want all the wing you can get. if easy cutaway, easy walk/run and easy pull are important to you go S-fly, if distance is what you really need for your sites, go vampire.
  10. fuck yeah. congrats young woman. Banff. pretty sweet.

    Virtus rigging

Anyone on this forum jumping this Hybrid rig want to give me their opinion of it? I just did a search on it and found this thread. I am planning to give this one a try / buy it, and would like to hear more about it... jt
  12. You guys need to ease up on the KNOW YOUR HISTORY stuff. Any young jumper would love to know about each of our preceeding base generations because unlike normal BORing history these are bitchen stories. I am a pro skier. I ski, always have, I am good at it, I have deep love and respect for the sport of skiing; always have. When I was driving to Kjerag with 3 skier/base jumpers I'd recently met. We drove thru a town called Morgedal, and another area called telemark. I then learned after 21 years of skiing that this was the birth place of modern day skiing, the ski resort and recreational skiing. I learned that words like ski and slalom were Norwegian words. I had never heard of Sondre Norheim before then and he was the man. He was the one who started extreme skiing or jumping off stuff with skis or just catching air one skis and having fun with it. He started it all and after skiing for 21 years i just learned all this for the first time. My home town of squaw valley even paid homage by having the olympic torch lit Morgedal first when Squaw hosted the olympics in 1960. I had no idea til I drove thru. There was no disrespect in the car, no animosity, nobody thought that I had no business caling myself a skier or a pro or whatever. It did not matter because these guys were normal nice bro.s without the sort of high-horse attitude that base jumpers who like to think they are special have. drop the attitude, go make BASE jumps, share a story if it comes up... GOD what a long post I am such a dorkzoner these days. geez.

  14. What is this jumpers experience level with jumping a budgysmuugler? Was this jumper current with jumping this sort of budgysmuggler? Does this jumper have the prerequisite 418 to 422 reccomended budgy dives prior to performing this jump? At what loading was he jumping this budgy smuggler? Would you care to elaborate please? IMHO BSBD BOC LOL HIDGAF? Does this jumper even know the history of jumping budgy smugglers?
  15. why would you care if someone did not know who Carl Boenish was?? That is how people learn by asking questions. Why was it a good thing there was space between the two of you? would you have been angry?
  16. WHY DO SOME CHOOSE NOT TO WEAR A HELMET ON JUMPS?!!! You just think you are TOO cool! GO GET 296 MORE SKYDIVES THIS SPORT IS SO DANGEROUS!! YOUR GONNA DIE! OH MY GOD!!
  17. %20 of the amount that you would pay before any discounts or deals. shake it off.. you wil be back, just tip better then.
  18. I would go to a nearby river or lake and completely submerge the canopy for a little while (5 min) spinning and moving it around a little like it were in a washing machine soak cycle. if you do not have fresh water the shower or a hose works fine too. Then dry it out... I usually opt for direct sunlight because that works faster .if you are concerned about UV just hang it up in the shade and let it dry out. after that it is as good as new. fresh water is not a bad thing for parachute fabric. really, it isn't. saltwater is no good, gasoline, oil and soda pop should be avoided as well, but even a salt water landing is no bigee if you just rinse it out.

    Best RIG??

the Fox without vents or multi is the best parachute. the best container is gargoyle or prism 1
  22. bert man: Humor: A I reccomend not getting the 5th line. I just sent mine back to have it removed. The 5th line may or may not make a parachute more prone to tension knots, but with the increased occurence of them in the last few years. and the increased use of the 5th line, it is soemthing many jumpers have not ruled out. coombesy had his 5th line removed after his Flik opened spinning with a tension knot. the 5th line might give you a better flare, but a base rig should be big enough that is puts you down soft everytime with standard configuration. the 5th line also decreases the need for a Deep Brake Setting, but DBS is easy to use and the factory DBS offered by apex (must ask for it) works great as long as you are jumping within their reccomended wingloading. it is becoming more and more popular to not use the 5th line on the flik.
