  1. so technically the boc pouch needs to be shifted also, towards the center of the container. Hmmm.. I'm thinking about doing this to my rig, it's an older ('95) Infinity.
  2. Thanks for posting the pics. Anychance you can take one close up. They are all pretty far away. I want to see it up close so I can see the type of material, where it is sewn, etc..
  3. Have you seen the Travis Pastrana video, it was posted on skydivingmovies.com some time ago. It has some incredible jumps involiving Travis jumping his motorcross bike off the Grand Canyon. Apparantly he never had any skydiving training and just did a intensive base course. That's what I was told anyway.
  4. I just ordered a pair of Curv-z from Aerostore. Similar design and much cheaper.
  5. Chances are your canopies are not going to open at exactly the same speed. One might snivel more than the other, etc.. So you will have vertical separation from one another
  6. Try this company I have used them in the past http://www.pjhayman.com/
  7. It was the first elliotical canopy to hit the market in the 90's. Shortly after PD released their version called the Stiletto (ever heard of it). :-) My friend jumps a BT-40. It tends to open hard but once you get used to packing it you can sort that problem out. It flies nice, fast, sharp turns and good for swooping. The performance is very much like a Stiletto but the Sitiletto opens much softer.
  8. It's all marketing. RWS is hoping to get people really worked up about the skyhook that they choose a Vector for their next rig. It's much more profitable to sell a complete system with skyhook and all than have another company build everything and pay a samll royalty for your invention.
  9. Answer this poor guy's question!! Perhaps he cant drag a rigger around with him everywhere and the owner is not willing to give the rig to a stranger. What are the basics to look for? You don't need to be a rigger to look over a rig. Any competent skydiver should be able to inspect the equipment we depend our lives on. I'll start you off......Look at the main risers, look for wear around the grommet area (wear may suggest that equipment has been subjected to some hard openings), look at the 3 ring release and make sure there are no dents or nicks in the metal, look at the harness webbing and look for worn or fraying bits, check the condition of the riser covers and the tuck tabs, look at everything and ask loads of questions. Good questions to ask are: No. of jumps on container? Packed indoors or out? Home drop zone of user ( climate conditions play an important role, I would prefer to by a container with 500 jumps from a someone in the Midwest than from someone from Eloy), is owner a pond swooper, has the container ever been wet.....
  10. I have used PJ Hayman in the past, I found them very efficient but I never had to make a claim (touch wood).
  11. Please post a pic of this bridle protection mod. I would like to see this.
  12. Is Colin still the main rigger at Empuriabrava? I will be going there later this year and need some work done on my rig. If he is still in Empuria I will save this work for him as I know he is one of the best riggers around. Anyone know his email address?
  13. In this video, why is Felix wearing a base rig? Is it just to prove he's a base jumper. I mean with a jump from 10 grand what's the point? Wouldn't it be better and safer just to wear a regular skydiving rig. I think he is trying to be too much of a showman.
  14. one of my friends is one of the partners for this company. They operate out of Soulac in the south of France in the summer months. http://www.airboss.nl
  15. That's awesome. I managed 9 dead centres out of 10. I like the low wind ones you can take them low!! :-)
  16. What apartments are you staying at?? That's a good price! Not sure I'd agree with that. Last year gremlin and I paid $55 per night (i.e. ~£15 each) for a nasty motel in Casa Grande. This year we are paying just under 12 euros per night each (i.e. ~£8.60 each) for a nice self catering apartment in the centre of Empuriabrava.
  17. I find it crazy also....it sometimes makes me think about quitting. I haven't lost any close friends (touch wood), but my AFF instructor died (Ron Green). I know a bunch of people who I've shared the aircraft to altitude with that are no longer with us. Also, 3 aircraft which I have jumped from later crashed killing all on board.
  18. What's the jet that has been used at Espace Boogie in the past!! I've seen the videos but dont know what aircraft that is.
  19. Forget the AN2 its a piece of crap and very slow climber. Try for an AN28, fast tailgate. Or like Rev Jim suggested some popular European jumplanes like the LET 410. It's an awesome aircraft.
  20. If you have seen problems with reverse risers, why have you not replaced your risers with conventional risers? Would you go against the manufacturers recomendations and change the risers on your rig. PDF rigs all come with integrity risers, I have contacted them in the past about changing the risers and they don't recommend it, they don't even manufacture a standard riser. So if PDF owners were to change they would have to use a riser from another manufacturer. Mismatching gear is recipe for more trouble. If you were told that Aerodyne's miniforce system was the best would you rush out and change your risers even though the particular manufacturer of your rig told you not to.
  21. Don't get me wrong I wasn't rtying to bash any one company. I think the Icon is a fantastic container and it will probably be the next container I buy. I just find it interesting between the similarity of designs with equipment within the skydiving industry.
