  1. I went through exactly the same thing when I had about the same number of jumps you have. My jumpsuit was covered head to toe in grass stains. I can give you two tips. First, like the others said find the stall point of your canopy. Sometimes pulling the toggles all the way down stalls the canopy and drops you to the ground. When you are up high pull the toggles and see how far you can pull them down until your canopy stalls. You will know when you stall as you will start to fall backwards and the canopy will lose its shape. Once you find the stall point remember it so when you are landing you never flare past the stall point. Secondly, don't put your feet down on the ground. Like you I was used to jumping student canopies and a PD 170 F-111 canopy until I had about 90 jumps. These canopies continue descending even through the flare. Flaring slows the descent rate so you can have a soft landing. With a ZP canopy the parachute will level out when you start to flare. For this reason as you pull down the toggles raise your feet in front of you before putting them on the ground.
  2. Yeah I know....but Spain is my only opition, it's complicated.
  3. Anyone planning to go in August? I'm gonna be there from 14/08 - 20/08
  4. I went to Eloy one year and camped at the dz. When I got my tent out I realized I left the rain cover behind. I figured no 'no big deal' it's the desert and only rains a few inches per year. Guess what?? One night it came pissing down at about 5am. I had just enough time to take my rig and clothes inside the bunkhouse. Everything else including me got soaked.
  5. The pool will be open all summer. Rent a car from BCN airport, it's not that expensive, Check it out. THere are some gorgeous villas in Empuria + you have the beach nearby. Summertime is very busy in Empuriabrava there should be loads of nightlife, etc..
  6. Nothing out of the ordinary if the only problem was lines out of order on the links. Although, like you, I'd rather use a more compulsive, detail-oriented rigger. Mark Yes that was what it was, lines out of order on the links. Do you think the canopy would have flown fine all the same??
  7. I bought a rig from a rigger in the U.S. it was his personal rig. He must have repacked this rig about 10 times over about 3 years before selling it to me. He gave it to me with a fresh repack and I jumped it for about 4 months then I had it repacked and it was handed back to me with nothing said. I continued to jump it for another 120 days. I then had it repacked again, I was present this time for the repack. The rigger, a different rigger than had packed it previously, couldn't believe what he was seeing when he laid the canopy out. The reserve was installed incorectly. There were at least two lines over lapping each other. The question remains, how did this happen? Did the previous owner install the reserve incorectly when the gear was new and then repacked it at least 10 times without ever noticing? I think probably, since it was repacked again while I owned the rig and nobody noticed anything. It's obvious that a lot of riggers are not hanging reserves for inspection because they would have caught this problem right away. Although a simple line contiuity check would have caught this mistake. I put at least 100 jumps on this gear with an incorectly installed reserve. It really pisses me off to think what might have happened if I had to use my reserve.
  8. Can somebody upload the PD packing video to skydiving movies.com. I am sure they wont mind since they distribute it for free anyhow. It would help us non Americans who haven't seen this video.
  9. I have a lot of jumps in Eastern Europe and I am quite familiar with this aircraft. The drop zones that fly one usually only take it to 3000ft and use it for static liners and hop n pops. This is a real beast of an aircraft. It is not an ideal jumpship in todays modern skydiving world but people will do one or two jumps from it to mark it in their log book. When you see this aircraft, especially when you see it flying, you just want to jump out of it. Keep in mind it is a vintage, circa 1930's. Canvas wings and enormous wingspan.
  10. Start your S-Folds from the top down. Meaning- Grab the top of the canopy and S-Fold it towards you at this point you should have about half the canopy S-folded. Bag this part of the canopy. Once the canopy is in the bag neatly S-Fold the rest of the canopy down the center of the canopy that's already in the bag. Make sense!! Probably not, but it's the easiest way to bag a new zp canopy. Also, don't kneel on the canopy when you are trying to control it this will make it slide all over the place. Instead use your legs to put pressure to control your packjob.

  12. I want to make a video to be used as a promo and I want it to run in a continuous loop. So when it finished it will automatically restart from the beginning. How can I go about doing this. Is there any editing software that supports this function?
  13. Pack Like a Pro is not that good. It's informative I give it that but Billy Weber uses an F-111 canopy to demonstrate packing, I think that's cheating a little. There is another video called Trouble Free Zero P, but I have never seen it.
  14. its not such a big deal. I've bought loads of stuff and the suppliers have gladly lied about the price. Or better yet have them mark it as a gift and tell them to not include any paperwork, invoices, etc. with the package but to post everything seperate. When the post office asks about value play dumb and say it was a surprise gift and you don't even know what's inside the box.
  15. Have the sender under claim it at lets say $25.00 But you wont be able to insure it so if it gets lost that's your loss.
  16. Can someone post this video on skydivingmovies.com
  17. Hi, has anyone used Point Zero for rigging work and reserve repacks. I have heard mainly positive things about them but was wandering what you drop zone dot commers had to say about them. I need some work done on my container as well as a fresh reserve repack.

  19. My point was keeping yourself involved in the sport. If you drive away from the drop zone and never think about skydiving until 3 months later when you are driving back to the dz then that's the worst kind of uncurrent you can be.
  20. There was an incident in France many years ago where a jumper got stuck on the step of a Cessna from the leg strap. The jumper was left hanging face down and couldn't free himself or herself I think. The pilot flew low and slow over the water, luckily the drop zone was close to the sea, and cut the jumper loose dropping her into the sea below. She was unhurt. The pilot had radiod this in and rescue boats were waiting.
  21. In my opinion 'currency' is not about how often you jump. I jump sporadically becuse of lack of a drop zone in my country but I don't consider myself uncurrent. This is because I try as best I can to keep myself involved in the sport, I take my rig out, pack it, practce my EP's at least once a month. I watch videos almost daily, read the forums and subscribe to all the magazines. Not a single day goes by where I am not thinking of jumping. I currently have 300 jumps, my longest layoff was 2 years. On that first jump after 2 years without jumping I went up and did a 2-way FS jump, turned loads of points and did a tip toe landing in the peas with my Stilletto 150. It was as if I had never stopped jumping.
  22. parachutes de France were the first to come out with this design in the mid 90's
  23. has the SMG 92 Turbo Finist recently been certified to fly in the U.k.?? I haven't seen this aircraft before but it looks like a very interesting upgrade for Cessna drop zones.
