  1. I'm surprised you got your money back because you didn't actually make the purchase with your credit card. You used Western Union. Sending the gear to a rigger is a good idea in theory but the rigger can be in on the scam too.
  2. Try PJ Hayman. They cover everything including thrid party, personal injury and even death (but only GBP 5000).
  3. sliding off the side into a prop is one possibility however there are many more things that could go wrong here. A tail strike for example can easily happen. In the video you see a guy sliding right off the back of the plane. He could easily have damaged the flaps which I believe are right there. Having one guy do it for a stunt or publicity is one thing (i've seen some very nice pics of Felix Baumgartner sitting on the roof of the Pink Skyvan) but having the whole load up there is STUPID.
  4. "a parachute in a forest"........maybe an abandoned smoke jumpers rig comes to mind.
  5. are you sure it's called Jump. Or do you mean this onwwww.90percent.it
  6. it's appropriate because after watching the video I see that you never pulled....instructor beat you to it.
  7. I have video of Patrick De Gayardon being towed behind a speed boat whilst flying what looks like a BT canopy. It is mid 90's footage so probably about 140sq ft canopy. He launches whilst on the moving boat and is slowly raised higher and higher. He eventually cuts away the tether and flies the canopy down. One day I will upload it to skydivingmovies but since its on VHS I need to convert it and find a VCR etc.. To the OP: buy a Parasail. To the guy with the "big balls": It does not matter how high you are, the canopy can hook you into the ground or water at enough speed to mess you up bad.
  8. I suppose I can comment here. I jump a beat up, used Stiletto 150. I have recently put a brand new lineset on it and I can vouch that with the brakes set at the manufactureres recommeded setting it requires some effort to stall. You wont stall the canopy accidentally by over flaring. At least with the brakes set as they are. If you factor in wear & tear and shrinkage then the brake lines get shorter and anything can happen. However, that goes for all canopies and not just the Stiletto.
  9. I am more interested to know what gear was used? Definetely didnt look like a tandem rig the catcher was wearing. What about the stress of a terminal drogue less tandem (or rodeo) opening on a one point attachment harness system. Trusting the equipment will work is more of an impressive stunt than catching someone in freefall.
  10. its also possible to cause a step through when the canopy is in the d-bag and you rotate the bag in such a way as to creat a step through. This usually happens after you have made all your line stows and are ready to place the bag in the container. It's possible to pick the bag up and rotate in itself. I have seen it happen.
  11. It should come as on optional extra. Few dz's are using ripcords. Personally I havent seen one in at least 5 years. With regards the video, besides the bridle being hung up the student makes a really poor toss right into his burble. The bridle actually wraps around his hand which luckily for him clears itself. You can see his arm being pulled back. This does not help lift the bag off his back. It's one of those chain of events scenarios. Luckily with a good outcome.
  12. First off - Awesome vid. I always appreciate the knowledge you give back to the sport. You mention the possibility of lines melting. Were you not afraid of the damage you might have done to your canopy whilst spinning? Did you make a conservative landing? Would suck to have a line brake half way through your final turn.
  13. Every person and every pregnancy is different. What someone says worked for them does not necessarily mean will work for you. I wouldnt jump or want you to jump if you were my partner. If you make your living skydiving then I would consider it but if you just want to jump for fun......take 9 months off, the dz is not going anywhere.
  14. It's cool considering I jump the same canopy - Stiletto 150, at similar wing loading. Somewhat comforting I guess.
  15. My drinking team has a skydiving problem. The birds sing because they dont have to pack when they land. The older I get the better I was. If your main malfunctions cutaway and open your reserve. If the reserve doesn't work, put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye. A good 4-way team going in would sound like this: SPLAT. A bad 4-way team would sound like: SPLAT, SPLAT, SPLAT, SPLAT. Remember when sex was safe and skydiving was dangerous.
  16. Marios....thanks for starting this thread. A simple question about the nightlife in Empuria led to some great friendships, historic skydives, and lots of fun all round. Empuria boogie was a blast. Must do it again. Nick.
  17. Watch this. It's a big file, poorly edited, but its a great Level 1 AFF vid. Gives you that happy-feel-good feeling. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=4140&string=continuara
  18. will be there in 2 days time...counting the hours!
  19. A formation of Fokkers? A fuck load of Fokkers!
  20. Yesss we all must know... it's like a real life soap opera. I'm just kidding. My post was in jest. Look how quickly skydive radio fans jump to their defence
  21. so what was with the delay?? You came back on air and never explained why you were gone for so long. We demand an explanation!!!
