  1. wanna see an awesome save: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGhtpiWOZ5o
  2. Does this mean you can remove the camera + box and jump without the camera, easily and quickly?? I have been looking for a multi use helmet lately and this might be it. If I am gonna spend so much money on a helmet I'd rather use the same helmet for regular jumps and camera jumps.
  3. so now that France and Germany have had 365 day repack cycles in effect for at least a couple of years now, is there any feedback from the field. Anyone have any chops towards the end of the pack cycle? I'm interested to know in how the annual pack cycle is working for these countries?
  4. where are you staying, do you know yet?
  5. I will be there from the 28Dec -2nd January. But alas the wife will be with me and also my 2 year old daughter. It was my only condition, if I go they have to come too. No idea what I'm going to do New Years Eve with a 2 year old in tow!!? :-)
  6. I'm confuse Didn't we say these aircraft still run on AvGas or Jet Fuel, whatever.
  7. ok just to complicate things up a little more, how about using a reserve pilot chute and freebag with the tandem drogue packed into to freebag. That way the cypress can cut the loop, launch the pilot chute, deploy the drogue, etc...
  8. They also react better in a 2 out situation. Less likely to entangle with the main as they sort of make their way behind you.
  9. use a tandem drogue as his parachute not a reserve pilot chute. That way you can get some weights into teddy. The pilot chute will not slow him if he is weighted.
  10. I would have bought from him as he had a lot of interesting offers on his site. However, he took long to answer emails and when he did, he's answer in one liners and would never really tackle my questions. There were also a lot of discrepancies. For example he'd tell me a rig was manufactured in 2003 but on the site it would be listed as 2001. Or one time he gave me the measurements of a Mirage and serial no. I contacted Mirage with the serial no. and the sizing they gave me was different to what he was saying. I live in Europe and didn't want to waste money on phone calls so I chose to buy from elsewhere. Just my experience....you asked.
  11. make sure your cut-away handle/pillow is in the right place. Meaning - make sure it's centred on the velcro.
  12. Shouldn't tandem equipment be designed to withstand a drogueless terminal opening? If not they need to beef it up a bit. This is the second incident I am reading about on this topic in this forum. The guys in Nambibia weren't as lucky as that was a double fatality.
  13. Anyone gonna be there over those days?
  14. The coolest looking half shell is the Flyaway helmet. It was a skateboarding helmet from the 80's. It's now out of production but they frequently appear on ebay and the like. So you may be able to pick one up. I own one and have made numerous jumps with it. I'll trade it with you for the price of a new rig!!
  15. ask the original owner about it?? see if he packed a wet canopy into the contianer!
  16. Actually i did one better and I spoke to Aerodyne. They told me it should not go around the housing because when the main is deployed there is a chance the rsl can release due to tension on the housing and riser. It makes sense. I dont know why mine was routed this way but I want to get to the bottom of it. Can some other Icon owners let us know how your rsl's are routed.
  17. Hey pinkfairy, can you show me a pic of your rsl...I wan to see how it is routed. Does it go around the cable housing like mine is (see pic)?
  18. For the record...there is no main canopy on the rig. The risers are correct because they were flat when i installed them and the risers with the toggles are facing back...like they are under canopy. I know the proper risers are on the proper side because the rsl ring are both facing in..not out. The reason why i know that is becasue i was out at my dz this pas saturday and i looked at how another jumper's risers were set up...that and it was the same on the visual references that i got from the owners manual that was sent to me. Looking at other jumpers gear is good as its good to be observant but remember not all gear is the same. There is such a thing as Integrity risers (reverse risers), they face the other way round. Very popular in Europe on PDf containers. So if you are going to copy other peoples set up make sure you are comparing to the same model container.
  19. This thread got me worried. I used to own an old Javelin a few years ago. It was an older one manufactured in 1989. It had a rsl that was put on by a well known master rigger, it wasnt a factory made rsl. Many different riggers had packed this rig and every rigger had a different opinion of how this rsl should be routed. It used to really piss me off cos I never new what was right. Now I once again have an rsl equipped rig. See pic. Is it routed correctly?? It's going around the housing. Funny how the Icon manual does not mention the rsl. Maybe one of the Aerodyne guys can chip in!
  20. Ok I did it over and moved the knot to the proper place. It takes me ages to get it in the right place, and get each loop the same size. Pics attached.
  21. Not everyone has a dropzone nearby. So it sometimes takes weeks or months before they get out to the dropzone. So it is not always possible to go directly to a rigger or instructor. This guy wanted to get on with it and see if he could do it himself. Nothing wrong with that. Perhaps like me, he does not have knowledgable people at hand whom he can turn to. So this forum somewhat fills a void.
  22. ooops, I could have sworn I had it exaclty like the manual. That's why I posted the pics....to get another set of eyes. I will change it again and move the knot so that the mark is above the knot. Thanks guys for catching that out.
  23. I followed the PD main canopy manual and it said to put the knot where I did. see for yourself on page 10. http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/MainUsersManual.pdf What is the norm? Do people usually stick to the factroy brake setting? I am a conservative pilot. My canopy is a Stiletto 150 but I do straight in approaches only, no swooping.
