Just a quick post so I can whinge a bit! I've got 9 consol jumps and only need 1 more to get Cat 8. Ive only needed 1 jump for THREE weeks!! Every weekend something has gotten in the way of me getting my Cat 8. 2 Weeks ago, the weather wasnt too nice and I had to take my parents to the airport. Last weekendit was my best mates engagement party so we took him away for the weekend. Weekend just gone i got the the DZ early but just missed the first lift. I was booked on the 2nd lift but had to pull out cos there were no spare rigs. I was put on the 3rd lift and my mate Mr Windy Twat comes to visit the DZ so lift 3 was on wind hold. Just as the wind seemd to start dying down, I had to leave to pick my parents up from the airport (inconsiderate people, flying on a saturday!). Sunday, my damn car decided to shed its old exhaust (for the 2nd time in 4 months!). Am I ever going to get Cat 8!! I know this post is about 'padding' jump numbers but its been mentioned in a few of the posts that some people 'thin out' their jump numbers for whatever reason. OMG, I know this is not the most original contribution to the discussion, but my GOD that video pissed me off. First the announcer is saying "his instructors watched him go bye bye", then he is saying "my instructor chased after me". Does anyone know what TV network made that? I am going to make it my life mission to yell at the producer of the show and Scott Lutz (the student), world class dumbass. I think you should definately convert. You only need to remember to to keep the palm of your hand facing toward the bottom half of your body so the bridle doesnt wrap around your arm (this will be your hands natural position normally) and to let go. Wont it depend on what type or ripcord container he's currently using? I did my AFF with a BOC ripcord rig. When I switched to throw away it was also BOC. I just watched this video. How can something like this be shown on TV? How did that numpty wanker sit there and say "I deployed the parachute..." He blatantly pulls the cutaway!!!! Surely this would of been pointed out to him when he landed?? What a wanker! And he didnt stop his darwin award attempt there... he flew straight into power lines!! Even if i'd never seen a parachute before, id be pulling at anything to try and turn the canopy away from them!! I'm personally not in this sport to impress anyone. I'm in it for me I love it, its fun and I want to learn as much as possible and progress on my own merits. If I impress on the way then thats a bonus. People who lie about jump numbers aer only lying to themselves. I dont think the only issue us students have is Safety and Training.
