During my AFF I landed mostly on my feet (except my first jump when I landed in a tree, but thats another story!) and i think its because of what my instructor told me. Since you say that your instructor has said you are starting the flare at the right time you should try what I did... as you start the flare count one thousand, two thousand, three thousand. As you hit three thousand you should be pulling the toggles all the way and just about be landing. I had the same problem during AFF. Legs out was the only signal I was given and it was on every jump! When you practice on the ground you are using force to keep your legs bent because of gravity , but when your in the air, you have to use force to keep your legs straight. Its strange at first but you will get used to forcing your legs into position. I got mine in 18. 8 AFF Levels and 10 Consols. Edit: Heres an extract from the BPA Designation and Classification of Parachutists: AFF graduates may not be awarded Category 8 until a minimum of ten consolidation jumps have been completed. Your in the same boat I was.. I started skyding myself. AFF myself. Believe me, just do it. If its what you want to do then do it. You will get talking to skydivers from day 1. Most people I have met through skydiving (not many yet as i'm still a newbie!) are some of the best people ive ever met. You wont regret it!
