  1. Structural damage and overspeed during a turbulence/windshear encounter are not appliable to airfoils used in Skydiving.
  2. Is anyone jumping a deployable speedflier canopy? What is needed for that? What copopy is adviced? Any source to read about it? Thanks!
  3. I may be wrong but I thought aspect ratio was related to chord vs span of the canopy and not height vs width of the cells. Can someone confirm? One of us is severely misunderstanding the situation! Aspect ratio got some effect on openings and recovering from collapse. It does not have direct correlation with recommended minimum loading.
  4. You are looking on the wrong place. That's a BASE suit, so try BASE forums.
  5. Showing that people make mistakes and there is no such thing as too many sets of eyes on something. True, but think again. Strong Enterprises receives ISO 9001: 2000 and AS9100 Certification 7 April 2006 That means there could be lot more than one faulty cut-away pillow out there..... ISO 9001 does not mean that your product is flawless, but equally faulty under certain limits....
  6. You are right. It should have passed quality control, than inspection and assembly and only the 3rd, more experienced tandem master found the fault. Yes, that is a black pull-up cord for visual emphasize, so it was there only for this picture.
  7. What is wrong in the picture? Hint: the black thingy is just a visual emphasize.
  8. I hope that someone could check your rig grammatically before you jump.
  9. The bottom, toggle side was stitched, but the top was not....
  10. How to inspect a lower brake line? On packing one of my canopy I got one of my toggle with the lower brake line in my hand..... I have seen at least 2 different way of construction for them. What things should be inspected about them?
  11. I got about 100+ jumps on my CobaltCompetition @ WL 2.2-2.3+. It opens, flies and flares nice.
  12. Part of the problem is that the new generation is so enamored with the wonder of electronic gizmos, that they value those toys over the knowledge, experience and wisdom of "whining dinosaurs"... The best part that not all dinosaurs are whining, but some of them writing great books, create valuable courses and giving good pieces of advices and trying to keep newbies alive. For the whining ones: image if the next generation of gadgets are giving visual clues where to turn to make the swoop course/target.
  13. Indeed a bunch of whining dinosours. If it help to keep newbie swoopers alive than it's the way to go.
  14. You might have less resistance with cruising slower and more time for getting affected to the (down)wind.
  15. Why 1/4? I don't agree. See Big Canopies in Turbulence By Brian Germain So not half or 1/4 breaks, just no slack and ready to prevent your canopy surge forward.
  16. Can be some issues with commercial skydiving? bigger jumpships longer jump runs less landing area/jumpers Soft things? Club system: smaller community "just" an Otter, Caravan, Grand Caravan load in the air we do know each other even if we don't even jump with each other, we do know who swoops usually less strangers/visitors are jumping with us there is a ground person all the time - dangerous behaviour leads to consequences. moving other places if banned is not an option more organized - landing direction for HP area is agreed on the ground
  17. Try to think about it. How come that a medium to big load of skydivers are not killing each other with canopy collisions in other countries than USA?
  18. This whole thing is BS. How come that a load of 6, 10, 12, 15 or 18 can live without conflicts with a separate HP landing area? There are place were they manage not to kill each other even with an Otter load. Than what makes the difference? Loads, jumpers, WLs of jumpers and disciplines are mixed up everywhere.
  19. What does the jump number doing with jumping SOLO or not?

70 jumps on a Phantom2 and you're ready for a Venom/V4???? Who told you that?? Try to imagine when you got the smallest surface suit around and in case of a flock you got no range, others are just flying around you.......
