  1. I took a moment and looked at my profiles. They look nothing like yours do. Mine show me under canopy in around 3 seconds. And my speed doesn't spike like that. I do wear mine on my wrist so i'm not sure how that affects the outcome. Patrick
  2. At my home DZ we have a Cypress requirment. Becuase of that the rule we have is that a cypress save due to lack of attention or altitude awareness and you are done. Buy you a bowling ball and call it a day. Not that i've seen this rule used but it's the statement i have heard made. Patrick
  3. we have quite a few experienced jumpers/K-state students at our dz... Right on. Those are some cool guys. At least the ones i have met from there. I hope to make it out for a few jumps some time this spring. Blue Skies, Patrick
  4. I go to Central Missouri State University. Honestly I don't know any at my college that jump. Went to the boogie in deland last year for Riddle. Had a good time. College "kids" seem to be cocky, at least when the start and it doesn't improve when they are drinking. Patrick
  5. I recently had to order a new d bag from wings and got the new anti twist. When it arrived i was actually surpised to find an additional flap on the bottom of the bag that the bridle attached to. When i hold it up by the bridle it looks a lot like a freebag with the triangle shape at the top. I have been jumping mine with a crossfire, which is my first eliptical, and not being one who flies through his opening very smoothly have had no line twist or issues. Not sure if it's the bag or i am just lucky. Personally i like the new bag. And the bag i got does have the option of stowing on top or the sides for your lines. Patrick
  6. This is something serious. I had the same thing happen only i wasn't lucky enough to keep my pilot chute and d bag. I lost both on a hop n pop. So one more neglected area on our gear to check. Since then i have switched to a slink. Patrick
  7. I bought my PC101 on ebay for $400. It works great. Now i might be just a lucky one but it's worth looking. Patrick
  8. I bought some plastic inserts from SunPath for my javelin. They worked just fine with the older risers. Patrick
  9. Sunrise is awesome. I have talked to Ankie more than once down there and she helps me right out. If there is a question she calls me. Turn around time is awesome as well. Patrick
  10. Lara is awesome. I had the chance of meeting her in Deland back in March. The customer service is awesome at Alti. Thanks Lara...
  11. Ok so my DZ started up a wednesday jumping for it's staff. Giving us a chance to jump during the week when weekends get hectic. It's been a very nice change. So tonight was a little slow with only a few jumpers. We did three loads, two hop and pop and one to altitude. First two went great on the third jump, which was a hop and pop, i deployed only to see a bag and pilot chute floating about 100 feet behind me. I immediatly thought someone used their reserve. Nope everyone under the right canopy. Turns out it was mine. Some how the link came undone and was floating behind me. I made lots of attempt to catch it while under canopy but only succeeded in landing off. I watched it till i had to turn on final. Then i lost it. So this weekend we are going on a hunt for my stuff. So tonight was good and bad. Patrick
  12. Dropzone posters, In my previous post i realize now that the time was embelished. I want to appolagize to Aerodyne for this. The customer service i have received has been excellent. Mr. Anderson was quite helpful when we talked. Thank you all there for your hard work and help in this matter. Patrick
  13. Me and my roommate have been waiting on a new lineset for our Hornet 150 for at least 14 weeks. They told us it would only take 8. Not bashing them becuase they have given good customer service in the past. Just this sucks...Waiting to jump my canopy. Patrick
  14. Just so you know i have been through this scam. What they want is for you to cash the check and send them their money that would be left over from the purchase. They don't want your gear. Just the money. By the time the check comes back you are out the money you sent. I have a counterfit check from my transaction. Luckily it looked so fake i laughed at the guy. He was from Aftrica telling me he had a client who would send me the money. Good luck and blue skies Patrick
  15. This may be a question i know the answer to but what is a "SCR". Maybe i just don't know. Patrick
  16. At this point i only have a neptune and love it. I use is at a visual alti. It's very light weight compared to my old altimiter and the updates they are constantly coming up with are wonderful. Patrick
  17. My chest strap is where it should be. I was wearing a camera helmet on the jump adding only about 2lbs to my head. But the extra weight helped snap my neck forward. Luckily only a few sore muscles and now i'm actually ok. Thanks for all the advice just thought i would throw this out for people to see. I know i am very lucky in this situation. Thanks to all. Patrick
  18. This weekends weather was beautiful and i was taking full advantage of it. Saturday managed to get 5 jumps in. On Sunday i was a little rushed between jumps one and two and did a very hurried pack job. Went up to do a very uneventful 4 way. Everything was great until opening. I pitched and in less than 250 feet was open under my Triathlon 150. I received riser burns on my left arm and my chest strap hit me in the neck. After getting to the ground i checked my leg straps, nice and tight like they always are. But when i went to pack i realized i didn't fan my slider out from the previous jump. So Sunday i truly learned what difference a slider can make. Today i'm a little sore but all is good. Patrick
  19. That was more of the point i was attempting to get across. It's not that you can't jump and that they won't let you it's that there is a high likely hood of having to do more than just show up and jump. Patrick
  20. Even if you bring your log book. The issue most DZ's look at is now they have a student who is new to them and is looking at a new landing area, gear, and staff. To keep your learning curve at it's best i would recommend staying with one dropzone till done with student status. This is my three cents. I work as a packer and coach at my DZ and have talked to students who are wanting to change DZ's. Some are more than prepared to come and work with us but some are so far behind it's scary. Not saying you are behind. Either way most DZ's that i know of are not big fans of students moving around. But i may be wrong. Give them a ring and ask. Then you willl know for sure. Good luck on the whole thing. Patrick
  21. First off if you are planning on traveling to another dropzone away from home you will need a license. Most dropzones will not let an unlicensed jumper just make a jump. You would need to probably go through their training program in order to jump. This is just my experience from my home DZ. Good luck to you and blue ones. Patrick
  22. What do i think. Well i manage a Papa John's Pizza and i don't like my drivers to smoke before they work. But to tell you even if they only smoke afterward it can affect their work. But so can cold medicine. If i had any question about my riggers ability i would take the work else where. So i guess this is me saying i don't like the ideas of riggers smoking. I don't smoke but i do drink. Drinking falls under such a different guidline to me. Still don't want my rigger having a beer before he does my repack. Patrick
  23. For my own knowledge what are you jumping now. Student gear wise what size main have you been on. What are you used to at this point. Your instructors/S&TA should be able to guide you for a great rig. Depending on the size main you are wanting to get will help you decide slightly what kind of container. That is if you are buying used gear. Looking good is nice but for first gear safety is the concern. My container now isn't the prettiest but it's a comfortable and safe rig. Good luck on that gear and early congrats on the license. Patrick
  24. On the hard housings i called SunPath for my javelin and they told me which ones to buy. Then my rigger put them in and everything is great. So basically i would call and ask...Easiest way i see it. Patrick
  25. Most people i know jump in things like that. I normally have a pair of baggy pants and a long sleeve shirt. Right now the jump is more important than the suit. Especially when i can afford one or the other. Patrick
